<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cementhead73</b></div><div>Barrie... maybe if we can get him for under 2mil.. I don't see him as an upgrade on Bouchard. Bouchard was pretty close to ready 2 years ago, last year, they left him down for an extra year, just in case. His contract can't slide anymore. Barrie is about equal offensively, and has a terrible reputation defending. So Bouchard has a way better upside as he is still developing.</div></div>
What you say could be very true. But sources seem to believe that the Oilers are getting Barrie and I can't imagine we get him for under 4 million. I want Bouchard to play too but Holland said that he's not going to leave a spot open for him and that he's still got to play to earn a spot, so I assume he won't be in the lineup on opening night. But we'll probably see what the plan is over the next couple days.

Ya it’s just to anyone who has a spot to protect him. I just picked the caps because they appeared to have a spot open on left d. Not much thought was put into the team.

I would agree with that. The problem being that to get any of those guys, they would have to trade Nylander which apparently there not going to do. You could also sign Tanev or Demelo or Hamonic. Personally I think Vatanen is the best out of those guys.

Ok how about if you take out Bokk and the retention on Niederteiter. I still think you can Pesce, Niederreiter and a 1st but maybe I’m undervaluing Niederreiter.
Then just make it the Jets 1st going to MTL instead of the Leafs 1st.

That’s true, you could definitely lower the pick. The way I kinda look at it is Andersen is still a really good goaltender who had a terrible defensive team in front of him. Mrazek has better defensive team in-front of him but he’s just not as good as Andersen. So I kinda saw it as the Canes get a goalie they can trust for an entire season and Leafs take a chance on a goalie to move up in the draft and to free up some cape space.

Well I mean he scored 26 goals this year in 68 games. He’s been playing on a stacked team for years and now that he’s finally gotten the playing time he has succeeded. But now they can’t afford him. I think he can slot right into the top 6 and won’t cost very much to get. But I’m sure you could find some cheaper options out there, I just didn’t see any UFA’s I liked and Killorn was the guy I thought of.

I kinda think Kessel could have a resurgence next year. It didn’t looked like he slowed down or anything he just couldn’t find the back of the net. And he struggled under a very defensive system. Not many were able to score on the Coyotes this year. But I think he could easily get 30 or 40 goals again with McDavid. Which I would be okay with protecting.

He’s obviously not ideal. He’s not good enough to play 3c but I don’t think Sheahan is either. It would be more of a split like this year where Ennis-Brown-Kassian get more offensive time. I do think Brown deserves a roster spot and can quickly develop into a 3c.
The thing about Russel is that there is so little cap space to go around this year, that I think we have to pay something to get rid of him. Puljujarvi is worth more than Brown so adding Russel and maybe lowering the pick would get the deal done I think. Anyways, it’s just an idea, Oilers are one of the few teams with options this off-season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kafle22</b></div><div>you only trade larsson if bouchard is completely ready to play top 4</div></div>
I agree it's not ideal. But I don't think Larsson is as essential as before. Remember we went the first 22 games of the season with out him with Russell on the top pairing. We did pretty good. Obviously that's not a large sample size but with Benning, Jones and Bouchard, (all players who I think are better than Russell) I believe one of them will be able to take on top 4 minutes. And trading Larsson presents an opportunity of really giving us an elite offence with depth. We could wait to more into the season but I think most of the good centre options will be gone by then. But Holland does like to be certain of things so who knows. I just really like the look of that team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Yeah, this is WAY too much to give up for an Iafallo rental.</div></div>
On surface it defiantly looks to much for Iafallo. Coleman got a 1st Round pick and Nolan Foote (2019 1st round pick). Iafallo isn’t worth as much as much as Coleman. So we’re giving up our 1st round pick (hopefully a late one), Samorukov (good but doesnt have the value the Foote does) for Iafallo WITH an extension which is important here and a 2nd round pick. So yes Coleman is better so we’re not giving up as much for him. We’re giving a worse prospect and we’re also getting a 2nd round pick back. I think we can pay Iafallo relitivley cheap and he can play up and down the lineup. It might be a bit of an overpayment but I think it’s close enough. Just how I see it though.

Sure, Pouliot had a complete offensive collapse but Eberle was still a decent scorer and they had a offensive collapse. Not to mention, this is with two centred lines above him that are going to get 20+ mins a night (I’d prefer them to be in the 18-20 min range as I believe their offensive ability isn’t hurt but Tippett won’t do that). He’d be getting in the range of 10-12 minutes a night, which would almost kill his 5on5 offensive game completely. Take the forward line 3 and 4 more as a 4a-4b combination and less of a 3 scoring lines system.</div></div>
You do make a good point. I don’t know if this helps my argument or not but Nuge will also play on the number 1 power play and the penalty kill for us. So he could get like 15-17 minutes a night.

To be fair, he hasn’t exactly had the best line mates on the third line. I think last time he was playing with Khaira and Gagner. I’m not saying Benson and Kassian are all stars but there an improvement. Plus you could always move the wingers up and down the lines or move Nuge back with Draisaitl. It’s not like these will be the lines for an entire season. I just like the idea of 3 great offensive lines.

I think you could do both if you wanted to. Detroit has a lot of cap space and I’m sure a few roster spots available. I’m just not sure if any UFA’s will sign in Detroit. You would have to give them a pretty good deal that I’m not sure Yzerman would be willing to do.

The problem is that they don't have a lot of top-end talent. After Kopitar and Doughty, the dropoff is immense. There's help coming in the form of Vilardi, Turcotte, Kaliyev, Bjornfot, etc., but it's going to take them several years before they're up to speed.
Honestly, the 3rd and 6th round picks are more valuable to the Kings right now then the two players you're offering.</div></div>
Ya I didn’t really think a lot about the team. Just any team who wants them.
