KANE DECIDES TO TAKE LEAGUE MIN
Kane would probably rather withdraw 700k from the bank and light it on fire than put himself through a gruelling season playing a 3rd line role on a Canadian team.

Brother, you’re playing both sides of the fence here now.
Your original offer was Necas, multiple 1sts, multiple 2nds, more picks, multiple prospects. Then I say nah, Necas and two 1sts. Now you are flip flopping and saying no, it’s even less than that lol. Pick a side and stay on it.
And wtf is this “he has more points” crap? So what? I’m more confident in the two time 60+ point player (Terry) than the one time 70pt but previously two time 40 pt (Necas).

Bag Terry
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Yeah, I’m considering all of that which is why I said that might be what it would take for ANA to move the kid but it also wouldn’t ever be considered from CAR vantage point if they’re expecting Necas AND two firsts. That’s just a bonkers price regardless of them being in the latter half of the draft.
If I’m moving Necas in this deal it’s Necas a second and a B prospect for Terry at best. Which gets shot down and we go out separate ways. Terry is better but the difference isn’t that big.
Btw the definition of basis is that’s a starting point which makes your comment read like CAR starts there and potentially adds more. Hope that clears it up for you.</div></div>
“In my eyes, value should be closer to two 1sts and Necas for Terry. I’d use that as a basis of a trade” is what I said.
Basis definition being “the underlying support or foundation for an idea, argument, or process.”
Which means my comment should read that Necas plus the firsts for Terry should be the foundation of the trade (the trade as a whole, not specifically just the CAR package).
Your offer of Necas + 2nd + B prospect probably isn’t enough. But now we are being hypocritical as to what’s the difference between two late firsts versus a 2nd and B prospect? B prospects come from 1st round picks all the time (especially late late firsts). Are we talking a late 2nd? Early 2nd? There’s not a whole lot of difference between pick #28 and pick #34 (CAR owns PHI 2024 2nd rd pick)

I get this is fantasy but above you are playing out a scenario where the Oilers GM is magically selecting all the right players at all the right draft positions. Argument could be made for all 30+ other teams (that there GM picked the perfect player with each pick)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Two firsts and Necas for Terry? How much better is Terry than Necas all things considered? I get why ducks wouldn’t move him unless they got an overpay but both the deal offered in the thread and your proposal are pretty bad deals for the canes.</div></div>
Like you said, ANA aren’t motivated to move Terry unless they felt it was an overpay. Terry is the better player, there’s no debate there. You’re also not considering that those two firsts are late late last 4-5 picks of the round ( marginally better than say two ARI 2nds).
You should also read over the last sentence of my comment again and familiarize yourself with the definition of “basis”. Maybe ANA needs to throw in a 3rd rd pick, maybe a prospect, who knows, but the package I noted is what I’d expect the framework of this hypothetical deal to be.
You’re more than welcome to chime in and outline what your trade package expectations to be

In all seriousness though, the trade above is quite the overpay from CAR.
In my eyes, value should be closer to two 1sts and Necas for Terry. I’d use that as a basis of a trade

G - I see Holm over Zhigalov

I’d rather roll with the guy I know (Johnson) and sign a 3RW versus upgrading Johnson and rolling the dice with an unknown (Foudy, Kovalenko, Oloffsson) at 3RW

Don’t get it, time and time again, choosing to spend what’s left of our cap space on a #6 D upgrade when the glaring hole is at 3RW.
Great, we’ve spent what’s left of our cap to sign Jones and bump J Johnson to #7D. Meanwhile we have THREE potential red flags in our top 9F. Drouin could flop, RyJo could be washed and Foudy/Kovalenko at 3RW could fail.
No matter though, we upgraded on Jack Johnson….. Forward guys, we need another forward signing

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>They should try to find a better option than Meyers for the 4th line. He's okay but struggled a lot last season; his contract can be buried and he's waiver exempt for 10 games so they can call him up when injures arise. And there's no need to save space for the deadline because they have several contracts that can be buried in the AHL. Might as well just spend the money and get a decent player like Suter.</div></div>
I agree that Meyers hasn’t looked good at all to date but unfortunately, based on the way things played out, he’s pretty much a lock for the 4C spot
