Edmundson trade idea - Thoughts
We’ll pass on Edmundson, thanks. Spence/Bjornfot can fill that role and are asset free.
Arvidsson returns a lot more than an AHLer and mid/late 3rd.
Only deal here Kings listen to is Arizona. Would be willing to swap Durzi, but Kings have made it known Turcotte isn’t for sale, so swap him for a pick.

Creating more cap space
Harder to find lower cap alternatives to some of these guys listed. They already have low AAVs.
Sean Durzi = Really Walsh maybe?
Carl Grundstrom = Tyce Thompson
Iafallo and Lizotte probably below market value

Dumo will want 2-3M, we can't afford that now. Irwin from an advanced stats perspective could work for us, we just need a decent goaltender and dont have the space.

Los Angeles Kings signed Vladislav Gavrikov (2 Years / $5,875,000 AAV)
Well, I guess we know how the rest of this is going to pan out . . . $7.3 million cap space now; Bjornfot, Clarke, Kupari and Turcotte or Anderson-Dolan all at under $900,000 leaves $3.5 million for Gabe Vilardi and we're complete. I guess to the making of laws and the making of sausages, another process we don't want to watch is the making of the 2023-2024 Kings.
I'd still feel better about this . . . a whole LOT better . . . if we had our 2023 first instead of our 2024 pick.

LA still in on Saros
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>I definitely agree on why would Nashville move in from saros when they are trying to compete. With brunette and Trotz running the show now I definitely don’t see Nashville selling…. But goalies just don’t return that much
Vilardi, Durzi, Anderson and a 1st is an extreme overpay.
No point in having a vezina goalie if you don’t have a defence infront of him.
And still saros won’t be returning a top 6 20+ goal scoring C/RW a number 4-5 offensive/ pp specialist dman a top 4 physical shutdown dman and a 1st.
Maybe more picks and prospects but what you are asking for a return is nearly 4 1sts in value and goalie just don’t get those returns</div></div>
There just really isnt any precedent for a team trading a vezina candidate goalie in his prime and contract remaining. This is pretty uncharted territory so people are either asking for the moon or working off of flawed comparisons to previous traded goalies. Saros is a top 5 goalie over the past 3 years, just turned 28, and makes just 5 million for the next 2 seasons. There just inst a direct comparable. Top end established starters just dont get traded unless there is an issue with them (age, contract, etc)

Grizz is severely overrated by Bruins fans but generally underrated by everyone else. 🤷🏻♂️
The fact that you don’t need to move cap makes it even better. B’s would rather picks/prospects for Ullmark.

Honestly it’s not really that terrible imo. Pay a bit more for a player we know plays well and hard or risk spending less on a player that may not play well or plays like gavrikov?
I’ll be fine with the deal if it’s only 2-3 years. He’s about to turn 28, that’s not bad.
The cap will go up way more for 24/25 season. Could possibly go up 4M.

I could see taking out the 2nd from L.A. and Montreal adding a B prospect but that is as far as I would go. But we do not have to agree on this. That is fine.

Thread:
Chaos In the T-Dot
Yep -- those are three guys the Kings won't trade and one guy the Kings won't trade for.
Marner is the worst of the Big Three for fit with Los Angeles. Whereas some arguable rationalization exists for Matthews to LA or Nylander to LA, none whatsoever exists for Marner coming here. Right now, we have $7.5 million in cap space with 7 -- count 'em, seven -- roster slots open, and since Clarke and Vilardi don't count towards the roster or the cap right now, this trade would put us $2.5 million over the cap with 8 roster slots to fill. These facts aren't my opinion -- this is inescapable numerical certainty. And adding more assets on our side to close the cap gulf just makes the problem worse.
Now aside from the cap definitiveness, let's consider the philosophical subject of roster structure. We're not going to sacrifice our future based upon building from the ground up to look like top-heavy Toronto or Edmonton, with stars whose cost is so high that it's impossible to assemble a proper supporting cast. We're doing fine; we're on the upswing. I suspect that the reason for the dozen-or-more-a-day Big Three trades to Los Angeles stems from the realization, conscious or not, that the end may be near for the Maple Leafs because if one of Matthews, Marner or Nylander leaves as a free agent, a collapse is possible. We can afford to add Auston Matthews as a free agent in 2024, but neither Marner nor Nylander fits the Kings either as a free agent or a trade acquisition, and both run completely counter to the theory on which the Los Angeles roster has been carefully assembled.

Canes should take that. Idk if the Jets would. Depends on the direction they want to go. If they're trading Connor they're probably moving for more of a teardown, so a top prospect such as Morrow would fit better than Teravainen.
