TDL 2019
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>felixxx07</b></div><div>Look what Ottawa got for Karlsson, not sure Stone (for a half season) is worth more than EK65!</div></div>
Obviously the Karlsson trade wasn't great but management (stupidly) decided that Karlsson wasn't a part of their rebuild and felt as though they had to trade before the season. Looking back at the trade Ottawa has gotten: third line centre (Tierney), middle pair dman (Demelo), b grade prospect (Balcers), solid prospect with top 2 line potential (Josh Norris), a second round pick, a first round pick and a second if Karlsson re-signs with SJS which turns into a first if SJS makes it to the finals.
Stone would currently fetch a first, a good prospect and a mid/late pick (at least) if he were to be traded at the deadline if he doesn't get re-sign in Ottawa.

And I love to do these, so if you dislike, just stop read them!</div></div>
Why would Ottawa have to do something like that? Stone is one of the best right-wingers in the entire league. I guarantee Stone would get more than 2 mid level prospects and a conditional pick, even as a rental.

Trade with Colorado and Calgary
You’re not getting one of the top 5 prospects in the world a top 5 pick with no protection to take only the last year in Soderberg’s contract. Soderberg hasn’t been bad this year and keith’s contract is currently way uglier. Adding Chad Krys (a bottom 4 d-man at best) and John Hayden (a fourth liner at best) definitely does not get this trade to go through. You would have to add at least Boqvist an unprotected first this year and another top prospect to even get talks going.

Offer Sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Don't think the Leafs would match all at. Matthew isn't close to 12.5m McDavid. Isn't it ridiculous for any team to spend 16m. Gee look at Arizona cap. 1m left with a 20 man roster. So who's in cap hell?
As Sammy suggested a player still has to sign an offer sheet. Just my opinion, Matthews would prefer to play in a big market right Toronto, so in five years he can move to possible NY or LA...a big commercial market. 4m difference would be tempted, but 8 years in a non hockey market for a bad team, probably doesn't appeal to Matthews.</div></div>
You realize Matthews is from Scottsdale and still spends his summers there. He was on the record saying he was hoping Arizona would win the draft lottery to take him.

There is going to be much bigger market for Duchene than a late first and a B- prospect

At TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spanky227</b></div><div>rangers pass very easily-- it'll take a top 5 prospect to even get them to listen. You don't want to pay that so stop offering.
Petan isn't anything special (bottom six forward) and cap dump of kulikov is over the top. Limits the rangers ability to go after panarin in free agency (or stone) and doesn't make them better.
A center that is on pace for 73 points won't be that cheap, even as a rental (and that's factoring in his slow start to the season).
If we remove the slow start and do his avg since november 1st he has 29 points in 25 games good for a 1.16 points per game average. With 45 games left that would be 52 more points this year, when added to his current 33 points that would be 85 points.
This combined with positive possession stats and a rel CF% of 7.8 on a piss poor possession team, he will fetch a top 5 prospect and a late 1st rounder as a rental. Which is not what you offered here.</div></div>
I’m really not sure how you think any team is going to trade a top 5 prospect (assuming you mean league wide) for a pending UFA who has never put up more than 50 points. You’re taking a two month sample size and ignoring the larger sample to skew your argument while assuming he will maintain this scoring pace as though he won’t hit a slump or slow down as that is what is career history would suggest. What you’re asking for in return is way too much, last year statstny was traded at the deadline for a B-prospect, a first and a fourth. Even if you think Hayes is worth more than Stastny (which is certainly up for debate) I doubt he’d be able to fetch a return of a first, a second, a sixth a solid prospect in Dylan Samberg and some depth. Maybe take out kulikov from this trade but ultimately his negative value helps offset all the assets going to NYR.
