Also Veleno is definitely extremely skilled, but he was part of that terrible Canadian squad last year and I don't think he had a good showing. I could see them not necessarily wanting to bring him back.</div></div>

OTTAWA GOES ALL IN for first overall
Ottawa certainly need no help locking up last overall. They’re about to go a full season without stone and Duchene and their biggest offseason addition was Ron Hainsey.

Trade Caggs Sign Perlini
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jco5ta5</b></div><div>I can’t see Dahlstrom getting a spot over Boqvist and I can’t see Stan trading Caggs. He coveted him for a year until he made that trade happen. Maybe if Hawks are sellers at the trade deadline he might be traded since he’s versatile and on last year of contract but even then Idk.</div></div>
Considering Dahlstrom is going to be the 7th dman to start the year and get scratched a good amount it doesn’t make much sense for Boqvist to step into the lineup, especially considering he likely needs time to adjust to the pro game against men. Time in the A will do him well

We’ll see if they’re still the deepest when they have to clear 7.5 mil in salary and fill out the rest of their roster.

If I were Stan Bo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackBurton</b></div><div>I disagree with 50% of this, I think with the amount of dumbass GMs still obviously out there (Fletcher, woof), someone could be convinced that Gus' points matter way more than the fact that he sucks all the balls at defending, and be conned into a late first. But yeah, not Saad.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JackBurton</b></div><div>I feel like that is all just conjecture, I never saw it discussed anywhere with any credibility. And I think Stan would've taken a 1st for sure. I think he asked for a first, and was likely offered 2nd rounders. But hey, that's my conjecture, I know ****all about it anyway. And when I say Saad wouldn't get a 1st, it has nothing to do with what I think he's worth, where I agree with you he's definitely worth a 1st. But any team trading for him knows what the Hawks are up against, and they'd use that to their advantage. Too few suitors for Saad to make it likely that Stan could talk his way into a 1st, in my opinion.
Saad, for me, was overpaid at the time of his contract. Now it doesn't worry me. But at the time, I knew he was being paid when it was really Hoss who was making that line go. I don't think any of us realized just how much 81 made 19 & 20 go until that line was split up/Hoss no longer wore the Indian Head. And now we're paying for it.</div></div>

Elliotte Friedman has said Gus would definitely get a first and a decent one at that. Saad has been speculated with Carolina for ages now and it would make sense for Carolina build up their roster now after the great year they had.

Use Cap Space as a Tool
Vegas is going to have to give up a lot more than moving down 2 spots to get rid of the Clarkson deal. They are in a spot where they're going to have to give up a decent asset for anyone to take it on. For everyone saying just throw him on LTIR, it's not that simple, there is cap implications down the road because of that and it will restrict them from getting things done this offseason.
