Ridiculously high overpay. This is a better return than Hanifin just got.

1. Why would Sweeney's job be in jeopardy? They've had the best team in the league for the past 2 seasons.
2. That is not even close to getting Lindholm.

Ya I just see it as a framework. Would be fine with Raty over Podz. Probably some picks/other prospects involved but nothing too major.

I'm not huge on those two either but they do fit the mold of what Pittsburgh is reportedly looking for (I know there are conflicting reports). Both guys are former 1st round picks that are probably ready for full time roster spots next season and would definitely inject some youth into the lineup.
Debrusk is also younger than a lot of Pittsburgh's players and would be a roster player coming back that doesn't signal to the locker room that they're completely giving up on this season.

Blockbuster with Pittsburgh Myers to LTIR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>except that isn't what every scout says.
what you looked at one scouting report on cap friendly and now think your an expert.
That is rich.
The scouting reports on him basically describe an offensive defenseman. He skates well, can pressure up ice.
They call him strong... but only at his level.
As I said above, how he played in juniors and the NCAA is not going to cut it at the NHL level.
At the NHL level he projects as an offensive defenseman. He lacks the strength and size to be a defensive D. Which is why little is written on his defensive game.
He also lacks the high end offensive skill to be considered a 1st pairing D. Something scouts have also pointed out.
Which is how you get "best described as a 2 way defenseman" on capfriendly. Because his high end lacks both.
If you watched him play you would know this. Because his whole defensive game is based on his skating. He can close a gap... great. That's basically his whole game, he can skate and decent shot and pass.
But when he hits the NHL and they park on him down low, he's done and will be exposed. Because he doesn't have the size for it. Which is why no one ever says anything about his defensive ability.
His defensive ability is basically transition game limited.
That might cut it at other levels, but at the NHL that won't work. Nor will his current game be nearly as good when he hits the NHL level and all the other players are just as fast if not faster than he is. Again effecting his defensive ability.
Maybe again you should watch players play before making comments instead of reading some half ass scouting reports that don't say much of anything most likely written by people who don't know crap about a player anyway because much like you they don't watch.
But at the NHL level he's an offensive defenseman. Period. This isn't a guy you're putting into heavy D zone starts or someone you are going to trust on the PK.</div></div>
You are out to lunch on this one champ. Literally every scouting report talks about his strong defensive and transition game and room for improvement offensively. Even his head coach at BU has reiterated same.
"As advertised, competitive, good defensively, great skater. He is very coachable and wants to get better everyday. He has not been out-matched physically by anyone in college hockey." Pandolfo said.

After a blockbuster deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>No, they just have no value.</div></div>
I agree Truscott has no value. He is just a throw in. Judd Brackett left the Canucks right after Truscott was drafted so not sure if he was one of his guys or not.
Aman has some value though. He's a 24yr old penalty killing 4C with 2yrs left at 825k. Some size and solid skater.
Bogosian was acquired earlier this year for a 7th round pick after passing through waivers. Can't imagine his value is much higher.
Duhaime comparables usually return a 4th round pick (Motte, Lazar are a couple of examples). I'd be fine with say a 4th + 6th instead of this package but I feel Aman would be more interesting for Minnesota than a couple of mid to late picks.

Blockbuster with Pittsburgh Myers to LTIR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>hardly, he's not even a very exciting prospect for the penguins.
Yager still remains their best prospect and I doubt they would do this deal for such a lower return and taking on such a bad contract to make it happen.
They can move Smith easy for a 2nd. Multiple teams are interested in him. They don't need to trade him for a freaking cap dump.
Jake will get a better return than a late 1st and a prospect that has no real place in PIT. Where is he going to play. They have Letang and EK for the next 3 years.
Wallander isn't exactly defensively solid to take on that 3rd pairing role. He'd just be another offensive defenseman on a team that doesn't need another.</div></div>
You clearly have no idea who Willander is. He's a two-way dman that is strong defensively and if anything needs to improve his offensive game to become a top pair dman rather than a 3/4 dman.

I love Willander but this is a win now move. Canucks only do this knowing they can extend Guentzal too.
Canucks window is this year plus the next 2-3 years (Demko and Hughes contracts). It could obviously extend past that but those years are probably their best chance.

There have been reports that smith is actually generating quite a bit of interest though so I wonder if they prefer moving him out without bringing salary back or bringing a shorter term salary back.

BUT, I haven't watched him play; I'm basing what I know of the prospect on various podcasts / talking heads regarding VAN and various scouting reports. Based on what you think, I'd be more inclined to keep him and send a mid pick.</div></div>
He apparently doesn't want to sign in Vancouver so he's kind of a freebie here for Minnesota.

No disrespect but that is not accurate on Truscott.
Aman just turned 24 a couple weeks ago and is signed to 2 more years at 825k. He is a reliable 4C that has been one of our better penalty killers. He's been in the NHL all year but has been healthy scratched a couple of times. For the most part he's been a regular though. Nothing special but responsible youngish C with some size and decent skating ability.
Truscott is a LHD that plays in Michigan. He's likely nothing special. Turns 22 in April and is 6'1 and just an all around reliable dman. He is the captain at Michigan and prior to this year was paired with Luke Hughes there and Owen Power the year before. His player type is kind of like a Tanev but highly highly unlikely it is at that level ever. Probably a depth or AHL dman.
I would be fine with a mid round pick instead of these guys but figure they might actually be a bit more interesting for Minny that a 4th rounder.

Meh I disagree. Grushnikov is a project able player type to be a bottom pair tough PK dman. Klimovich is still getting healthy scratched at times and struggling with the technical side of the game and has 4 pts in 20+ games in his third season in the AHL. I don't think he adds any value other than here is a body you can have.
