Ya I think Vancouver would have to find a 3rd team to take the mikheyev contract which won't be easy right now given his play recently.

I even looked him up on the CapFriendly scouting reports (https://www.capfriendly.com/scouting-reports/players/jacob-truscott) and they also say he's needing to improve hid defensive responsibility to translate to the NHL.
BUT, I haven't watched him play; I'm basing what I know of the prospect on various podcasts / talking heads regarding VAN and various scouting reports. Based on what you think, I'd be more inclined to keep him and send a mid pick.</div></div>
He apparently doesn't want to sign in Vancouver so he's kind of a freebie here for Minnesota.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SimonVenell</b></div><div>Tell me about the guys the Wild would be getting for Duhaime. Seems like the Wild would probably rather just have a pick.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Beargold</b></div><div>Aman is a reliable depth-C who can be trusted, but does bounce back and forth with the AHL. Truscott is more of a meh 5th round prospect from what I've heard. He does have some offensive upside as a D prospect, but the two-way responsibility lacks.</div></div>
No disrespect but that is not accurate on Truscott.
Aman just turned 24 a couple weeks ago and is signed to 2 more years at 825k. He is a reliable 4C that has been one of our better penalty killers. He's been in the NHL all year but has been healthy scratched a couple of times. For the most part he's been a regular though. Nothing special but responsible youngish C with some size and decent skating ability.
Truscott is a LHD that plays in Michigan. He's likely nothing special. Turns 22 in April and is 6'1 and just an all around reliable dman. He is the captain at Michigan and prior to this year was paired with Luke Hughes there and Owen Power the year before. His player type is kind of like a Tanev but highly highly unlikely it is at that level ever. Probably a depth or AHL dman.
I would be fine with a mid round pick instead of these guys but figure they might actually be a bit more interesting for Minny that a 4th rounder.

Meh I disagree. Grushnikov is a project able player type to be a bottom pair tough PK dman. Klimovich is still getting healthy scratched at times and struggling with the technical side of the game and has 4 pts in 20+ games in his third season in the AHL. I don't think he adds any value other than here is a body you can have.

It's a lot of nothing but the 3rd round pick is too much for Duhaime alone. Comparables over the past few years usually return a 4th.

Ya exactly. As much as I hope we sign Petey I would be pretty happy with this type of offseason if we had to move him. Two 25 and under top 6 forwards that are both 6ft3 and have 70-90 point potential with positional versatility as well as an under 25 defensive top 4 dman with long term cap certainty.
I think it would allow us to not only not take a step backwards but potentially even take a step forwards with the overall makeup of the roster.

I think I'd rather the top 10 pick and use that to flip and go get a player that you want. I don't mind Mittelstadt but he will need an extension and I'm not convinced he is worth what he could ask for.
I made another post from the Canucks side where they use that 1st and 2nd to go after a guy like Necas who I would much prefer to mittelstadt personally.

I think Necas has 90+pt upside so I would have no issue. Plus Canucks are going to want to stay competitive in the short term which the 1st doesn't do. The expectation of that top 10 pick would probably be a player like Necas in 5 yrs anyways and could easily be worse.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Julius_Freezer</b></div><div>Then No Deal, VAN would need either a star player or a player with potential to become one, Benson and Power are expendable to BUF and if they don't wanna deal them then VAN can find someone else. Also that Necas deal is very unlikely, CAR is in "Win Now" mode and wouldn't deal a player like that for futures.</div></div>
I disagree. I think Cozens has the potential to be a long-term staple in the top 6 with first line upside still. I'd prefer Thompson or Power of course but still think this would be a very strong deal that would competitive with other offers.
Carolina is always balancing long term future with being competitive. If they don't want to pay Necas what he demands then I could definitely see them taking a package like this and then moving some other assets (or the futures they receive) to go after something that they want.

I would love Thompson or Power I just don't see that happening. I think this is a good return especially if you are flipping the picks for a guy like Necas.
Canucks end up with 2 young top 6 forwards and a young top 4 dman that are all cost controlled.

Ya that is fair. I think there is probably other packages cbj could put together maybe involving guys like Marchenko or Sillinger but I'd imagine they'd get beat by someone else if Jiricek isn't involved.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Indy</b></div><div>Then the 1st is off the table and the reason I say that is we haven't seen a massive blockbuster trade in like 6 years with more than 2+ high tier prospects/1sts moved for 1 person. What this package includes now is a former 5th and 6th round pick and even if you wanna include laine in that which is a 3rd and you are asking for a 1-4 pick being involved too? New Columbus GM would balk at that especially when our RHD prospect line is running thin. You are more likely to get a Russian forward than Jiricek at this point. I know people love to think X player is worth 4-5 firsts but until a massive blockbuster deal happens again involving that many S tier prospects/picks I don't think any GM is going to throw out that much in capital to aquire players no matter how good they are.</div></div>
I don't disagree with what you said. It's more that I'm not very high on any of the assets in this deal aside from the 1st.
Johnson is a nice piece but I'm not convinced he's a star player in his future. Laine is such a massive question mark right now and with his mental health struggles I don't think he would be a good fit in a high pressure market like Vancouver. Boqvist I have 0 interest in.
