MEIER

There’s not a lot of teams who are contending who can afford the QO. Carolina sees him only as a rental, NJD can and Buffalo was only just checking in.
Meier will get a 2023 first and a A~ to B+ prospect and a mid tier roster player. He will be viewed as a rental by the majority of teams</div></div>
Carolina is set up to have more cap space than NJ in the offseason. Carolina is also likely get a better price because they're willing to trade him without an extension, while Fitz isn't.

Fair Trade for Meier
Sharks should take that if they're really digging for guys like Mercer/Jarvis and can't get them. Although I'd argue that they Jets shouldn't make this trade for the same reason Mercer/Jarvis shouldn't be available.

NJ RUN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>python3504</b></div><div>Would the team have the cap space to sign him for 9-9.5X8?</div></div>
Yes. How much money he gets will hurt the re-signings that can made for our UFAs though. Worst-case scenario for cap casualties would be losing Graves, Wood, Severson, Tatar, Haula, Blackwood and replacing them with the pipeline. Graves and Tatar are the only guys I'd really only be interested in bringing back though depending on price.
I'd be surprised if Fitz were to trade for Meier if he's looking for that much though. He'll look for cheaper options.

Timo Meier
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>Hypothetical here.
But what if MTL RS of 50% then SJS rs of 50%?
How much more is that worth to NJD?
It would give you 4m cap to acquire a full 23 man roster and a 7th Defensman for your rotation.
It would also buy MTL favor in a Karlsson deal</div></div>
The hope is that Hughes can jump right in and Smith would be the 7th defenseman. I'm sure SJ would also take back AJ if he helped get the deal done. Regardless, cap shouldn't be much of an issue in a Meier to NJ deal.

He sure did play terrible last season with a heel so inflamed that his skates didn't even fit. And you really think SV% is a good stat to evaluate a goaltender?...
Really don't care at all if he's back in NJ or not next season. But he's at least an average goaltender (when healthy). NJ's got a low bar for what goaltending is good enough, and being average is good enough.

Meh.
He's young, has a positive xG and has shown that he can steal games. His SV% is terrible because the bulk of his starts were when the Devils were allowing like 20 shots per game. Only reason I think Fitz should move on from him this season is how injury-prone he is. People need to re-evaluate what league average goaltending is these days. Scoring has just gone up like crazy.

? Chychrun is younger and signed for the same term as Vejmelka. If Chychrun doesn't fit their timeline, then neither does he. They'll have to re-sign him before their window opens anyway.

There's no path to trading Luke Hughes, you'd legitimately have a better shot at trading for Owen Power, which obviously isn't happening either.
It would be a slap in Jack's face to trade Luke.

I think it's more just the article is a mess, all due respect to Peng.
But if Nemec is a "A-B tweener", that would imply that Nemec+1st wouldn't get it done... which is just absurd. If I posted an ACGM of that trade on here I'd get torn to shreds. I don't think him and his source(s) are sifting through all their notes on other team's prospects while they're answering some random users questions.

Hi Sheng, would you view Nemic as an A-prospect? I would want Hughes more than Nemic but given who Luke’s brother is on that team I don’t think they’re going to give him up. https://sanjosehockeynow.com/san-jose-sharks-timo-meier-trade-return/

He’s a B, along with Holtz. FWIW I actually asked three different NHL sources, about my Grade-A and B evaluations</div></div>
Fair enough, I see the comments now, thanks.
And to that I'd only question the logic of why Holtz and Othmann are considered to be on the same level. Maybe him and/or his source are just weirdly high on Othmann, but who knows.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>poeticentropy</b></div><div>I dunno if Holtz actually is or not but according to the reporter's sources they considered Muk and Holtz B not A, which has context to the reported ask of 1st+ 1 A or 2 B. I am just saying that if people are citing this article for a source of what SJ wants, they need to include what the writer says their source values for those prospects and not interject their own ranking. This ACGM is posting the ask from that article which is why I'm responding with this info</div></div>
I don't see Muk or Holtz mentioned at all. Just that Luke Hughes is "a definite Grade-A." (no sh*t)
He mentions Brennan Othmann as a Grade-B, who is an under performing 20 year old in the OHL with 1st round pedigree. And if that's the case, you guys can go ahead and swap Holtz for Stillman.
But I don't think how the "Grade-A" or "Grade-B" tags are evaluated in the article are based on the source, I think they're just based on how Peng evaluates them. And they're done rather poorly, like as if they were done by somebody who just reports on the Sharks.

Yeah, you're not bringing much credibility to it by mentioning how that reporter brought up Luke Hughes.
My point is that I'd personally put Gritsyuk, Clarke, Muk and Casey in the same tier and Holtz is a better prospect than all of them. Just getting tired of all these ACGMs going the same way:
"Holtz isn't a Grade A prospect'
"Then switch him with another good prospect'
"...But we want Holtz"

I mean, that's fine. But if Holtz is considered a B prospect by Grier, then Fitz might as well send an actual B prospect instead of Holtz. Like Gritsyuk or Clarke.
The only reason Holtz is so involved in these trades is because he's seen as a top prospect. If Grier doesn't view him as that, then we've got PLENTLY of other B-tier prospects that have a lot less potential than Holtz.

Very unlikely that Bryson would even make the lineup. I don't know what this ACGM is supposed to be.
Wood can probably be had for next to nothing if he doesn't pick it up after the all-star break. Tatar isn't getting traded for nothing though.
