I’d rather Joseph over Risto so I’d decline the Sens trade

8th seed playoff push -MODIFIED
Definitely would reject that. Greigs a 2 way guy, plays great at both ends of the ice. Probably tops out at 40-50 pts a season but plays a great, complete game. Not to mention he’s an absolute rat and gets under the opponents skin.

CAR whats his cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>Obviously the purpose of the posted trade is for offsetting risky contracts to be swapped in Korpisalo and Rakell. Removing one of those contracts from the proposal defeats the purpose of the entire deal. Smith is a rental so he is no long term risk.</div></div>
If the whole purpose of the deal is to exchange bad contracts, I’d just keep the cheaper one in Korpisalo and hope for a bounce back. Goalies are weird anyway, one season there great, next they suck. Rather take that risk than paying Rakell until he’s 35.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>Sure just keep Korpisalo then. Because no one is taking that contract without assets coming back or cap hit going out.</div></div>
Well Rakell and Smith have the same cap hit, was more thinking the pens keep or move Rakell in a separate trade.

Id probably do it if you switched out Rakell for R. Smith! Just don’t like the term on Rakells contract really

Do you think Liljegren would be a good partner for Chabot? I’m just not too familiar with Liljegrens game! I don’t mind the deal, or even Ottawas 2nd and a prospect could work!

Draft Day Trades
So basically Ottawa trades 6 OA, 27-32 OA, and Boucher for Risto, Laughton, 15 OA and a 2nd. Id probably do Laughton for Bos 1st and Boucher, not interested in moving a high pick for Risto.

I’d do Branny for Fast 1 for 1! Think we could get a little more back for Chychrun but if the pick is say 15/16 overall id might bite! Take Kasty out though, keep him for depth.

Chychrun to PHI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>athrin</b></div><div>so you would trade a top 4 Dman in his prime for a very late 1st and a 4th liner..wow you realy dont want the sens to even finish outside the bottom 5.</div></div>
I mean we probably would get a bit more, but I don’t think that much. Cates would fit great in the bottom 6 and PK, and recouping a 1st (likely late yes so maybe add a 3rd or another prospect) would be ideal. Ottawa got Chychrun when he had 3 years left on his deal, teams aren’t acquiring that, they only get 1 year. The value isn’t going to be the same. And to be fair, we’re finishing bottom 8 with him anyway, not much more losing we could do.

I’d probably do this! Although id push for a 2025 pick rather than 2024, but that’s just me! Colorados 1st and Cates and I’d do it!

New year new look
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Fast is the better player, and Ottawa are DESPERATE for bottom six help. Fast is undeniably the more valuable asset between the two</div></div>
I think you overrate fast and underrate Brannstrom personally. Fast is useful, but he’s 32 and his production has gone down this year. He’s capable defensively which Ottawa would covet, but there not gonna throw away Brannstrom and a pick for him. I’d give you the 4th for Fast, not much else.

Brannstrom is gonna cost more than 1m. If that’s all it took to re sign him Ottawa would just keep him. Also, why would Ottawa add a 4th too? You’re getting the better, younger player?

Looking at them
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>I could see a Matt Murray type of trade happening.
Sens pay a team a 3rd round pick and retain $500,000, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a team out there that takes him.</div></div>
I could see that too! Retain 500k -1m and a 3-3.5m G isn’t terrible. Especially for a team like SJ or something that could use one, gain extra picks and likely wouldn’t start to be competitive until the contract is almost up!

Korpisalo’s buyout isn’t terrible, think they could go that route if there aren’t any takers. Don’t think many people will be looking to add him though. Buyout most likely I’d think.

With the way this season went and having to forfeit a 1st (likely 2026) I can’t see the sens doing this in advance. Maybe at the deadline if things are looking good but definitely not in the summer!

Ottawa declines. Ostapchuk will be a great 4C and he’s cost controlled. Has size, can chuck them, defensively responsible, exactly what Ottawa needs in there bottom 6. Think they’d be more interested in adding b6 vets to play with Ostapchuk than to trade him. Kastelic I could see being moved for a late round pick, or they may just keep him too since he’s cheap depth.

Can run:
Sanderson-Zub
Defensive Guy - EK
Kleven - Vet / JBD</div></div>
I’d agree with that! Better than what’s there currently! I wouldn’t mind a Chabot-EK swap if other plans fail!

Love Karl but not sure if he’s the Dman we’d want to target. I’d rather move Chychrun/Chabot for picks/prospects, try and sign Roy/DeMelo and use the picks and prospects gained to target a G or a more two way/defensive RD via trade talks if you’re unable to sign either Roy/DeMelo.

Next season with Lindholm
Doubt Lindholm signs that in Ottawa. And I’d probably rather use the money on a RD like DeMelo or Roy than for Lindholm. Pinto has done great as 2C. Stutzle, Pinto, Greig down the middle is fine, maybe target a cheaper middle 6 guy that can play C and W?

I think the sens would accept right away lol that’s probably too much coming back. Think Maccelli and Gunther would be no gos as well. A package centred around Durzi + 2024 1st and some other things (prospects/picks) I could get on board with!
