And no longer needing a to draft a center Detroit switches their focus to drafting RHD and takes Reinbacher with their pick.

Detroit even does it without an extension, IMO. I see no reason, outside of money, that Lindholm wouldn't want to play with our Swedes long term.

Major Trade With LA and other moves to build a team few can match
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>I think I'm beginning to push my chips toward defense-first LDs, Gavrikov would improve this team more than Hanafin would long-term.
The Kings have not shown themselves to be consistent enough to make such a large move for 1.5 years of a player who will demand a huge pay raise.
Right now our biggest issue is bleeding goals, we could add more goals to offset this with Hanafin or we can focus on getting tighter and more responsible defense. I see the logic though, just disagree with it.</div></div>
True and very compelling. It bothers me that by the time all teams have played exactly 20 games, we will probably have given up more goals than everyone except bottom-feeders like Buffalo, Columbus, Ottawa and the teams behind us in the Pathetic. Even Arizona and Chicago may allow fewer than 68 goals. More to the point, most of the real contenders will have given up fewer than 60.

Major Trade With LA and other moves to build a team few can match
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>And Phillips does nothing for LA. Not only is he tiny, which the Kings already need to start getting away from, he's another center for a team that has center depth down to the 8th or 9th C position. Kopitar-Danault-Byfield-Kupari-Lizotte-Turcotte-Thomas are the current ones, but Vilardi and Madden also have been centers.</div></div>
You know, at the end of my original comment I had written "Off the beaten path, I think Allard and Phillips are window dressing," and I wish that I hadn't decided to remove that sentence.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeKeenanHatesMe</b></div><div>Because you’re afraid of trading with us? The value is basically spot on and the needs are filled for the Kings and for us.</div></div>
Partially, it's more I think the fit is wrong.
Short term the Kings are looking for a player to pair with Matt Roy, long-term they are looking for a player to pair with Brandt Clarke. Hanafin is a short-term solution to something the Kings might already have in Sean Durzi (albeit not as big or proven)
The Kings have several offense-first young players who have graduated or are nearly ready in: Durzi, Spence, Clarke, and Grans.
Their need is that 2-way pivot who can not only be an offensive presence but can shelter these offense first RDs.
Pair this with Calgary being more desperate as they expedited their cup window, blocking any success for their next two seasons will be paramount to any post-season success.

For the second time in living memory, I'm going to disagree with my pal <a href="/users/tryger" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@tryger</a>. As much as I love Viktor Arvidsson (and I <strong>LOVE</strong> Viktor Arvidsson), I'd do this. Although I can see the very compelling counter-argument that Hanifin has only one more season on his contract.

These Are Two Very Fair Trades

You blithely dismiss USA U-20/WJC standout Matthew Coronato as "a winger prospect," as if Winnipeg has anyone in the system rated as highly. Who would that be? It wouldn't be Cole Perfetti, who's the center prospect Winnipeg hopes will replace Scheifele, and it wouldn't be Chaz Lucius, who was drafted after Coronato and not selected to the WJC team this summer. So tell me why Coronato wouldn't be the #1 winger prospect in the Jets system.

2 Hughes is further along but the kid breaks in half with contact. That’s a recipe for a short career
3 Hellebuyck is probably my harshest choice but last season wasn’t his best
4 Nylander wouldn’t be overrated if he wasn’t a Leaf but because he is one that moves him way up the list. Your fans here act like he could never be acquired in a trade unless the other team gives up half their roster
Oh and Zegras is a player I like more than the others you mentioned but I’m sick and tired of people hyping up his lacrosse goals</div></div>
Quiet frankly I agree with what you say about Zegras he’s an excellent but I think the hype for his lacrosse goals is getting annoying which is why I stay far away from Twitter whenever I can as for Nylander you have a completely valid point, if he wasn’t in Toronto he’d be treated like any normal player his caliber but since he’s in a market like Toronto he gets treated like Steve Yzerman

WHY MATTHEWS WILL LEAVE
Again you get into this fantasy about "personal income" taxes. Why do you NHL players are subject to personal taxes on their whole salary. Why do you think Matthews pays Ontario or even Canadian taxes? Never hear about any player signing or traded to the Jays or Raptors complaining about more taxes, but the tax experts on CapFriendly think it's an issue.
Now I don't think Matthew is resigning with the Leafs, but certainly the reason isn't going to be taxes.
I know of one former NHL who made about 20m is his NHL career. He never touched any of "salary" and lived on other incomes the NHL and sponsors. Almost all of that 20m and more was sheltered in his "corporation"
Nice chart but doesn't meet the reality check of what "entertainers" pay in taxes.

Dude I’m agreeing with you. I’m saying the base difference though is there and translates to the loopholes. There is a reason why business owners have land in Delaware. It Varys everywhere but no matter what loopholes you have, you are likely paying less in the states as opposed to Canada. End of discussion.
