i understand that, but Buffalo should have no issue fitting those 2 guys under the cap.
i'm not taking anything away from Levi, but Sorokin is a top 3 goalie in the league and would dramatically improve Buffalo.
and i can't prove it, but feel like Barzal would thrive in Buffalo, that guy has been suffocated in NY.
if a trade like that happened today, Buffalo is in a wild card spot by Christmas and pushing the 3 seed in the Atlantic not long after.
quinn comes back, buffalo gets healthy - they are scary with those 2 guys.

Barzal and Sorokin
the basis for this trade is Barzal/Sorokin for Thompson/Levi - if Buffalo fans immediately think no, something is wrong with them.
the difference in Thompson and Barzal negates the value in upgrading from Levi to Sorokin.

Hard Team
there is zero balance in this trade - Marner may be the best player involved, but not at the expense of NY's 2nd pair and a kid that has finally hit his stride.
i'm not sure Trouba is even close to a buyout option - you can't act like TML is doing the Rangers a favor here.
Brodie and the other guy are meaningless.
do better.
they may be the 2nd lowest scoring, but they have also given up the least amount of goals.

i'm not too sure about that, buffalo wins this trade by a mile.
this is the type of trade that turns buffalo around faster than waiting on Levi, who should be in Rochester.
Barzal is a victim in Long Island, give that guy some room to play actual hockey and he puts up 80-90 points in his sleep.

It would be nice to know which half of these goalies you think are "awful":
Saros, Sorokin, Varlamov, Merzlinkins, Hart, Grubaeur, Markstrom, Gibson, Allen, Mrazek, Hill
i think any of the above are better options than Buffalo has now.

you are so focused on term for some reason, not sure why - trades like this wouldn't be done without some serious due diligence.
don't care if McDavid is signed for 15 more minutes, buffalo is still giving up the package i suggested.

you are living in a fantasy land:
Cozens/Dahlin or Tage/Power - throw in a 1st and two decent prospects not named Savoie or Benson and it's close.
there is no comp, trades like this don't happen.
i also believe Buffalo trading for McDavid makes zero sense and will not make them a better team.

Edmonton isn't going to win a mcdavid trade</div></div>
the only one that wins a McDavid trade is McDavid.
the trade you proposed doesn't hurt Buffalo one bit, not even a little sting.
a hypothetical trade for McDavid has to hurt the team trading for him at least a little...
in my opinion, if Buffalo ever tried to take a swing at McDavid - Tage and one of Dahlin or Power needs to be the starting point.

you constructed a trade for the best player in the world, without giving up any of buffalo's top players.
i'm all for being "goofy" and using this site to make outlandish trades, but thinking buffalo could land McDavid and still have:
Tage
JJ
Quinn
Power
Dahlin
Benson
Savoie
Levi

the Ranger's don't really need to give up a 2nd here.
his contract is pretty buyout friendly.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>1.) A 59 point guy (who for the purposes of this trade has a similar season) at age 25 under contract of course has value
2.) Kulich, one of the top prospects in the world who just had the best age 18 AHL season ever and whose ELC slid and could slide again this year of course "moves the needle"
3.) A first is a first.
A 1st, a high end prospect and a young top 6 player with term of course is a haul, you're just a hater</div></div>
not a hater. i'm looking forward to following Buffalo - watched some of these guys play the last few years in the AHL
if the Jets are moving Connor they don't want Mitts back - this is a rebuild, doesn't make sense - 59 points or not.
as for 1st's, 1-8 is a lot different than 15-22.
Kulich is a nice prospect - but i can't imagine a scenario in which the Jet's move Connor to Buffalo without getting one of Quinn, JJ or Savoie/Benson to a lesser extent.
all i'm saying is Connor is a PPG player that would instantly become Buffalo's 2nd best forward.
trading for a top tier player has to hurt - Kulich, Mitts and a first doesn't hurt, doesn't even really sting.

so why didn't you offer value?
Mitts means nothing here.
Buffalo's firsts, in theory, will not be as valuable as they once were since this team should be in the middle of the pack, potentially not even lottery anymore.
Kulich is ok but isn't moving the needle for a guy like Connor - one of the most under the radar guys in the league.

the ask is certainly not much -
Jokiharju and Olofsson aren't needed in Buffalo anymore and don't have a ton of value
Krebs and the 2nd are decent pieces
Rosen has some nice potential
why assume Thompson and Cozens would be forced out, maybe Lindholm moves to the wing?
if Buffalo is smart, they don't give Power "big" money next year - bridge.
trade like this puts Buffalo top 3 in Atlantic, not fighting for wild card (contingent on unproven goaltending - which they should still make a play for).
