Flyers would absolutely accept the deal. They are healthy scratching Frost. To get a 1st round pick for him, they wouldn't hesitate.

Sanheim is signed to a big contract. But Hawks could use a LD bad, and with Bedard and an additional 1st, I could see them thinking pick 35 is expendable.
I know people want Sanheim to fetch a 1st, but no way it happens unless we take on a multi year bad contract in return. I think Philly would entertain it to get the Sanheim contract off the books and in a good draft class they probably feel good about value at pick 35.

Tkachuk trade feels like a lot would take out Emil Andrae and i'd probably be more ok with it.</div></div>
Nyquist was who I wanted, but we'd have to get him before the season started and can't afford it due to Ellis contract. Nyquist is probably going to be traded by beginning of the season. Once the season starts, we move Ellis to LTIR, create the room to add another forward. Logic didn't add up.
Hell, I'd give up more for Tkachuk if it means we for sure get him, but we have no shot haha. Next to zero.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Cannon</b></div><div>Fletcher didn’t want to move assets to pick up a hometown guy for free. Why would they pay assets for this guy? Lol</div></div>
Because they would be moving out cap in the trade to acquire him, he's younger, and he plays the style the flyers are clearly dedicated to building their team around. They drafted Gauthier, Kaplan. Signed Deslauriers. It makes a ton of sense.
With that said, Fletcher doesn't have the brain or negotiating skills to work out the necessary trades to make it happen, so this is just flyers fans hoping for the best despite knowing there is zero chance.

Wanna specify that this is a no trade version. I think there will be a few trades along the way. I think Ottawa at 7, Detroit at 8, CBJ at 12, some others in the late teens-20 range looking to move picks.

Zero chance Flyers move Provy for that. He had a down year or 2, but they'd rather give him a chance to reset under Torts and Shaw who have a history of developing defensive players.

I Like Bertuzzi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>You can do that without trading a high value pick for a rental.</div></div>
He's moving down 3 spots, and then giving up a 2024 protected 1st from florida. I personally don't think its a likely move either, but it is not egregious especially if they think who they get at 8 is far off from Gauthier/Jiricek. I would prefer to keep 5 myself, as Bertuzzi could be had without touching the 5th pick. With that said Flyers brass did mention they "could move down" but I think that is more just gm/scout speak more so than actively looking to do it.
But I was more so challenging the logic that they won't buy. Flyers are going to make a lot of moves as if they are a bubble team. They also have been linked to Bertuzzi for a little while.

I don't think many people think Philly should be buying, but Philly has said they want to compete now and re-tool aggressively to get back into the race. So any arm chair GM not doing that is probably unrealistic at this point. Also, in terms of the rental if Philly were to make this deal I think they would have to figure out a deal fairly quickly for Bertuzzi otherwise it doesn't make much sense.

I don't really love the Marchment signing personally, but he definitely would be a Torts kind of guy.
Under this scenario, I think the next move would be trying to find a way to unload Ellis. Or is it a foregone conclusion that he's going to be on LTIR for the rest of his career? I have zero clue what to make of his situation.

Flyers would then make other moves obviously to add to the right side after Ryan Ellis trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hullsy09</b></div><div>Gauthier is not “off the board”, he is one of the most likely picks for them</div></div>
Exactly Gauthier is like a consensus top 7 pick at this point and has been rumored there for a while. I also believe they could completely go chalk.
I also completely disagree with people in the top 10 not being Fletcher/Torts type.
Nemec, Jiricek, Gauthier. Good chance 2/3 of those are available at the flyers pick and all fit.

A torts type of retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Frankcarp21</b></div><div>I mean, the goal scoring is what I'd like from him mainly, but he also obviously brings way more to the table than JVR. Hes a better playmaker, 5v5 player, younger, and just about better at everything at this stage of JVR's career. As for Burakovsky playing with a better team, fair enough. For what its worth though, I think he would've put up way more goals and points if he got to play on the top pp unit.</div></div>
I totally agree with Burakovsky being better than JVR. Don't get me wrong, he's a solid player. I just don't think I'd pay that price tag for a guy that doesn't move the needle enough. Save that 7 mil to go towards a bigger fish. Fair point on the top pp unit though.

A torts type of retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Frankcarp21</b></div><div>I really dont think forsberg or gaudreau are leaving their teams. Burakovsky while probably going to get overpaid, is a good top 6 goal scorer</div></div>
Burakovsky benefitted heavily from the talent on the Avalanche and scored less goals than JVR last year. Obviously Burakovsky is better than JVR, but if its the goal scoring just keep JVR at 7 mil for one more year instead of overpaying Burakovsky for a longer term. Would rather just keep that cap open to go towards a better signing in the future than sign Burakovsky is my point. Burakovsky doesn't help this team enough to justify fitting in his 7 mil cap hit for 6 more years.
For the record, I'm not saying its a terrible move or anything. I'm more just saying its a complementary move. If we really retooled and figured out a way to get a top talent like Johnny or someone like that then you figure out a way to make space for another guy like Burakovsky on the 2nd line, but at this moment just adding Burakovsky isn't going to move the needle that much so might as well just keep the cap available for a real game changer signing/trade.

exactly and imo Debrincat isn't going to be worth it for the Flyers based on Chicago's asking price. We can't compete with the asking price and we will set ourselves back quite a bit trying. Rather lay off at this point. Shed JVR/Lindblom and just sign Gaudreau. Look for another move to add a piece to our 2nd line. Draft bpa at 5.
