Risto to Ottawa
The only upside to Ristolainen's game is that he's really good on the power play. The sens don't need him for that because we have Chabot who can do it better, and Brannstrom coming by the end of the season. Plus Wolanin who was a fantastic QB for Belleville's powerplay.
Sens already have a guy who drags play 5v5 locked up on the right side in Nikita Zaitsev. Adding another one pushes a young RD out of the lineup, and likely ends up forcing our best RD, Dylan DeMelo, out as a free agent at the end of the year.

Love this D - thx to Yerdons article
As much as I wish it weren't the case, the prospect of the Lightning trading Cirelli is a pipe dream - I just don't see him being made available.
Assuming no changes occur to the forward group, your lines make some sense except that, if the 3rd line is going to be 71-37-43, then Rodrigues would be on the right wing and Sheary on the left to allow them each to play their natural handedness. I also like the fact you omitted Thompson because he does need more development time in Rochester but I suspect that Wilson will be demoted and Thompson playing somewhere with Okposo as the 13th forward.

Based on what...? If we can't get a return of at least them even with throwing in a prospect like Asplund or Thompson, it would be stupid to trade Risto

Only 2 options for Risto trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Your analysis is spot on. The question is how one could structure a trade that would work for both teams. As an Anaheim fan, I'm perfectly okay with the pain of paying the price necessary to make the Ducks a contender, but the issue is whether Ristolainen is that player. Obviously, I would trade Kase for Seth Jones -- but that would be a ludicrous trade for the Blue Jackets. I might trade Kase for Ryan Pulock and Anthony Beauvillier -- but I don't see that offer coming, either. Kase for Risto scares me because I've heard so much about Ristolainen's defensive deficiencies. I'm not sure that these teams are good trading partners again -- although there's something in the back of my mind about Eaves for Bogosian that would relieve some of Buffalo's cap stress . . .</div></div>
Finally someone who can intelligently respond to an ANA trade with Buffalo... that being said, I think a pairing of Lindholm and Risto would work because Lindholm is fantastic defensively and honestly a top 10 defensman in the league (talk about underrated...). Risto has never been paired with a player even close to his caliber and I personally think he would thrive if they develop some chemistry. I think Kase's concussion and injury history can be baked into his value, even if Risto's analystics aren't great. Adding in a top 5 prospect in Buffalo's system I think makes it more than fair

We have 7-8 4th liners. Why would we trade a guy who should be on the 2nd pairing for another one? Also, Dahlin's best partner statistically is Nelson.

You have this confused. Okposo is the "better" player, but Backes is a better bad contract. Okposo is twice as long.

Anaheim trade
It's a good deal.... that makes sense. Two concerns though
1. After moving Montour (still figuring out why), do the Ducks go back to the well. Seems counter productive.
2. Does this deal fit the Ducks internal cap?
The package is sound. But I dunno if tje Ducks bite.

Move CM to 3rd line with CS and ERod. Statistically CM is at his best with them. JL as your 4th line center.</div></div>
I agree with this assessment..... Ralph can not continue the mistake that was made when Berglund quit forcing Casey to #2C..... allow the KID to get his mojo back by making him your 3C for the season..... I like Sheary on that 3 line though a bit apprehensive with Vesey's Defensive short comings.
In relation to the Detroit trade I just do not see it happening as the teams are basically in the same boat. Detroit is not going to trade one of the foundational elements for Risto.
I think the better fit team wise to trade with if you are willing to package Risto & McCabe would be:
1. Winnipeg - with Roslovic, Perreault & Comrie in return
2. Winnipeg - Ehlers & Perrealult
3. Edmonton - Ryan Nugent Hopkins & Puljujarvi.... The Sabres would have to add for this to work
4. Edmonton - RNH plus ?????

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riley816</b></div><div>Most from Buffalo watch him play. Not just read his stats. A trade will improve the team. No matter the return...</div></div>
They have 6 NHL RHD, 3 acquired in the last 6 months, 1 on IR. Theyre also up to the cap and need to get stronger up front. Risto is the best option to get another forward to add to the pile

i think larsson will come back to center the 4th line. hunwick and wilson will get put on waivers and sent down. maybe even okposo too. i think olofsson needs a shot with line 1. mittelstadt, reinhart and rodrigues was a good line last year. i'd like to keep them together as reinhart and erod are good defensively. that lets johansson skate with vesey and sheary/nylander and the 4th line can be girgensons, larsson and TT/nylander for some offense. okposo is not part of the future, i'd rather bury him. maybe scandella can improve to start the season enough to be moved for something with retained salary once pilut is ready.

I disagree and think Sob goes to KHL. And Okposo turned out to be awful value at his contract number it would be great to get relief from that contract but I don’t think anyone wants to pay that much for a bottom 6 winger.

Dreamin
You maybe dreaming but I personally do not think that is too far off of what GMBots is holding out to make the deal with TBL. The Sabres would have to take on a cap dump as well in order to make the deal happen......
My guess is GMBots is thinking:
1. Tyler Johnson is the prime target but if he does not waive the NTC then
2. Gourde and if he does not waive the NTC
3. Cirelli plus a cap dump
If not then Risto will not be a TBL.

Duckie
You know with the abundance in right shot right wingers this might not be a bad trade. It would be one for one though. Ducks may have plenty of nhl defenders but are currently weak on right shots. Plus lindholm is the type of player that helps improve their D the partners, which is the type of partner risto could use.
