Forgot to delete the pick going out of NSH my bad lol. But I wanted to clear a RW spot and money for the future years since he’s got 4 years left at just under 3M

You're right, plenty of time. I doubt he spends 15.3M on his current FAs so he's gonna have to sign or trade. I still think he'll take a cap dump from someone as long as it has a reasonable term left and not too expensive.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>They need to hunt for a big goalie not a winger at least not a 10m one.</div></div>
There are none on the FA market, I doubt they get one via trade as they don't really have the draft capital for it. Not to mention that I doubt that they think this way with how they've treated their goalies recently.
Logan Thompson also had a very good AHL and NHL campaign last year and did more than enough to push them to the playoffs. They couldn't bury 1 shootout attempt out of the last 17.
I agree they shouldn't target a big FA winger but VGK's history says that they'll keep doing this

I just saw the trade and you're absolutely right. But my question is how are you going to reach salary floor. You are going to take on contracts. Now you are right, Vegas would send a pick but I doubt it's a high one either. Martinez is not an expensive liability combine that to the LHD depth.

Dubois
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyDanz</b></div><div>Absolutely correct. Now that Fiala went to LA with minimal return, Dubois goes for less—significantly less. Doubtful Chytil is any part of a deal; same with Kakko or LaFreniere or Schneider. Lundkvist is at the top of Winnipeg’s returns.</div></div>
Difference is that Minnesota doesn't have room and had to trade him. PLD said he wanted to test Unrestricted Free Agency during the next offseason no matter where who he plays for in 22/23, which delays the situation by a year. He is open to sign another year.

I doubt the Oilers match a 4.2M AAV which corresponds to a 2nd RD compensatory pick. You could save yourself a second for Pulju.

Do not rush things
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RedWing9119</b></div><div>It's not a sub 4 million dollar contract because it's 2 years. 7.6 million is more than the Marleau deal stretched out over a longer period. And since Mrazek would need to be bought out (he'll never play here again) the situation is the same. Plus the contract is backloaded. If they want to buy him out: more power to them. That doesn't change the price to dump him to us.</div></div>
But still I believe the Leafs want to fully get up under that contract without having to deal with any cap penalty. They will always be around and slightly over 80M yearly for their cap. They got some prospects coming up that would require money during the later year of the buyout (unless if something bad happens and they blow up the core 4, but still it’s hard to move those big contracts while saving money).

I’m OK with the trades.</div></div>
What would be your lineup from line 1 to 4. I am confused. Fabbri is a LW right but he isn’t on line 1 nor on line 3. Also Berg on the 4th is temporary.

How much do you want. A first for a sub 4M contract??? Last we’ve seen a first get traded in a cap dump was for a 6.25M contract in Marleau I believe. People also forget everything before his Leafs season. Unless if you want their finnish prospects but they’d rather go in another way.

2M too short? Go on the CapFriendly tool. Select active players that signed around 22/23/24yo and look at the AAV for Norris’ production. 7M+ ? He has the potential but I think it could go badly. We see player taking good money on short deal to get even more later.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YoungPattyKane</b></div><div>Underpay on Norris, Kubalik might not even get qualified, no interest in Fiala at that price</div></div>
Out of all the active players that have signed a contract between 22-24yo the average AAV for a similar production is 5.5M to 6.5M, choose an AAV between that (ok give him 6M/yr). The Hawks would be dumb to not qualify him. Even if they don’t I’d still pick Kubalik up.
Finally the Fiala trade is more of a gamble. I’d understand not trading for him. But everywhere they are rumoured to be the main favourites. You also had 5 1sts in the last 3 years it is not like you are lacking of young guys to develop. Remove the late pick if you want but I’d do a 1st (that would take 1/2 years to show up) and a mid round pick

Then I really hope you extend Andrew Copp knowing that the RFA’s are coming. A first, second, a pick and a player for a 3 months rental ? That wouldn’t be fun to watch “not for a rental or any player”.

Wouldn’t be so sure pal. You’re looking too much into potential. A scratched player in favour of a guy like Strome playing on one leg and a Kravtsov that the Rangers didn’t even use last year. Maybe change the 2nd into a later pick but don’t think that the Rangers wouldn’t even look at the trade offer.

True forgot about Fabbri and I also thought he was a center. It doesn’t make sense know with Veleno also at 3C. To be honest it’s just Kubalik for a 3rd. Any team that wants him

From what I've read they he doesn't expect to start the season. But he should play at some point during the next season. If not then I'd send him to AZ where contracts go to die (for a late round pick)

I doubt the Leafs wouldn't match but they'd have just 3.6M left for Kase, Engvall, Blackwell, Mikheyev, Liljegren, Lyubushkin and not many picks to send Mrazek or a Kerfoot elsewhere. If they match then it's Ty Smith's spot
