Marner won't make Philly a true competitive team alone, nor would he waive to go to Philly.

Ignoring my desire to say Flyers aren't a star away from competitiveness, why would Marner waive for Philly?

Maybe if it comes with a Chychrun extension. Bonk is our best defensive prospect and is likely the only other untouchable next to Michkov.

Laughton is overvalued by management for his character and work ethic. Would this be real value wise? Yeah most likely. Will the Flyers take it, probably not.

I think it TK is moved it'll be for a package of picks and prospects, not a fellow contract year ufa and a single mid round pick.
Outside of that the value is leaning in the right direction but a higher pick, most likely a 2nd would be involved as TK was a near point per game player.

How exactly? We haven't moved draft picks other than a 4th for veteran backup. We traded our solid defenseman to Colorado for an extra 1st. Briere isn't pushing for star power, he's pushing for futures.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>athrin</b></div><div>OTT would be offering something else than chych for TK and keeping him would be a big mistake, when rebuilding a team needs to trade players that will bring in the most to help the rebuild, TK is tradeable, couture is not without major retention. the way Briere is doing things, philly will remain a bubble team for 5+ years, not good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to get top end picks. Your Centers are most likely the worst in your division and your D aint that much better and your Gs are ooof. The only reason PHI sniffed the playoffs this year is because NJD craped out hard, NYI sucked for parts of the season and pens self imploded at the end.</div></div>
We almost made the playoffs because our goaltending was good until our goalie got arrested on a potential sexual assault. After that our backup had to pick up the starting role and wasn't prepared. Defense was frequently injured and needs repairing.
We were in the top 3 in Metro for most of the year, so discrediting it as "everyone else just sucked and you sucked less" is pretty superficial. We had brushes of genuine good hockey, and beat multiple of the top teams in the NHL. We just lost all semblance of consistency at the point where it mattered most. Didn't help that Torts kept making questionable roster decisions throughout the stretch.

Mismatched value. I doubt the Flyers want to give up on Cates after one down season. Sophomore slumps are common and we shouldn't jump the gun. His defensive game was still solid, he just lacked point production.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>athrin</b></div><div>for a team that is supposed to be rebuilding, that would be realy dumb, the only reason PHI even sniffed the playoffs was because the NJD craped the bed, WSH and PIT are on the downward trend and NYI sucked for parts of the season. I personally disagree, you need to keep a couple big guys on your team to help shape a style for the young guns to follow. TK plays that role as what people want a Flyer to be, so I think the two sticking together would be beneficial. However, if the Flyers get a good rebuild package offer then they need to take it.
A 1 for 1 Chychrun wouldn't really be that package.

Improve but wait for the right C
That's actually a pretty intriguing trade for Frost. Kudos. I think it could be a good deal for the Flyers.
I would say NJ wouldn't pay their top 10 pick for Ullmark, but seeing as you have already acknowledged that I could see maybe their 2025 1st if they have real hope in a bounce back, though it would likely come as a top 10 protected pick.

Still not under the impression that Byfield should get 10 million yet either. He's only had one season, no need to go poach someone for an extreme price with only a sample size.

14 million for Byfield is certainly something. That would make him outpaying McDavid, MacKinnon, Crosby, and Matthews.

Fan Opinions on Possible Players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>Agreed I just feel like our drafting is so unpredictable (Michkov, Cutter, Patrick, etc) that I wouldn’t mind someone like Lundell who is only 22 and already proven to be a solid player.</div></div>
Yeah Cutter was a huge mess, but to be fair on Patrick he was projected to be the potential 1st overall between him and Hischier. Unfortunately his concussion problems just completely tanked that.
Michkov still looks to be a steal, and since Danny has proven he can be a diplomat with the Russian side, I have barely any worries about him.
