Not even in the ballpark. There's no chance Calgary considers this. Moving up 4 spots isn't worth Markstrom. Calgary wouldn't do it if they were getting Necas too.

Calgary won't have much interest in Chychrun unless he comes with a nice long extension but even then Miromanov won't part of the deal for him. Unless we acquire someone else he may be Calgary's 2nd best right shot D next year.

I think we were exceptional at drafting under Treliving, but I'll hold reservation on Conney's drafting for now. I'm not arguing that Andersson has a lot of value, I just disagree on him having more value than a 1C locked up long term making 7M, or a 21 year old 1st pair defenseman locked up long term. I think Savoie is a good prospect. I wouldn't trade Andersson for him 1 for 1, but I'm also under the impression that Buffalo is not interested in Andersson anymore.</div></div>
I could not disagree more. Treliving's draft record wasn't good at all. He gets no credit for Matthew or Sammy because Brian Burke wouldn't have let him take anyone else with those picks.

2024 Top 10 Draft Predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>- Maybe Demidov is overrated but I don't see him falling out of the top 5 due to a Russian factor. You have Anaheim who has a young star player in Mintyukov and a need at RW, and you have Columbus with like 6 Russians on their roster. Lastly there is Montreal who is in need of more offense. Even if Chicago passes on him, there is no chance in hell all 3 of those teams do too.
- Columbus has been heavily linked to Silayev and frankly there is no way Levshunov is getting past #3. As for Buium, he's not pure offense, he is quite decent defensively too, why he is below Levshunov in most rankings is because he played in a weaker NCAA division.
- I don't think the Yakemchuk take is that unrealistic. I just think they probably take one of the 2 OHL defensemen due to Staios' connections with the league
- Catton is small, everyone knows that. But in terms of pure skill he is easily one of the best players in the draft</div></div>
Chicago, Anaheim and Columbus all need centers more than wingers, all three teams could use a good defenseman more than another winger too. Anaheim definitely likes their players big and mean too.
Yeah I'm not that big on Levshunov either but he's still probably a top 10 pick. Personally I'd take Yakemchuk over him, probably a few other players (both forwards and defensemen) too.
Catton we'll never agree on... At least not until years from now when one of us is proven right... He's either as good as you think, overrated like I think or somewhere in between. :)

The trade Conroy agreed to in February
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HappySqrl</b></div><div>I haven't seen a credible source actually list the details of the trade. Everything I have seen tends to be either fanbase assuming the deal was terrible for the other team.
I'm inclined to think a fair deal is somewhere in the range of Markstrom and the 28th overall for Holtz and 9th overall.</div></div>
Calgary already has 9th OA, Jersey's pick is 10th but if the deal had gone down at the deadline Jersey was expected to make the playoffs which would have put the pick at 17th or later. It's possible the deal the two GMs finally agreed upon might have been something like Marky with no retention + 28th for NJ's 2024 1st + Holtz + a sweetener. But that deal got shot down by Flames ownership.
Now the NJ pick is 10th OA which is worth quite a bit more than 17th+ so yeah 10th + Holtz for Marky + 28th would be a good return probably too good unless there's retention on Marky.

If Brady tkachuk deal were to happen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jwills2001</b></div><div>"meh prospects like Mercer and Casey for him" Exactly what you said. And saying Casey would be lucky to make the NHL when he just signed his elc and will be getting ahl mins next yr and proved skill in NCAA. Im not saying these guys are future world beaters but come on. Calgary would be more than happy to have them, maybe just you wouldn't. Look at this like a GM, Mercer is a proven 20+ goal scorer at 22 (thats a pretty great piece to have on a team where your best scorer was Sharangovich (former dev). Also just saying you guys had a NCAA 5'11 defenseman taken in the third round who worked out pretty well (Adam fox enters the chat) so shutting down Casey cause he's 5'10 and second rd pick is hard to say when he kinda proved himself last season at the world jrs and at Mich.</div></div>
Again I did not say that. I said:
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Brady to NJ won't be happening especially not if NJ isn't even willing to trade 3rd line players or meh prospects like Mercer and Casey for him. That'd take at least your 2024 1st and a player/prospect a whole lot better than either of those two.</div></div>
That's Mercer a 3rd line winger and Casey a meh prospect. Mercer may become a good middle 6 forward eventually but he isn't one now. He's bounced around between 2nd and 3rd line wing but wasn't even able to earn a spot as 3rd line center over Nosek (and that was with Huala as 2nd line center). He's following the same path as Zacha and Sharangovich before him but isn't as good as either one. Devils fans need to look at what those two were traded for and come back to reality.
Comparing Casey to Fox is absurd too. Just because Fox is a small defenseman who became a star doesn't mean and even smaller defenseman is a star too. In fact history suggests the opposite is far more likely, the vast majority of smaller junior defensemen never become NHL regulars.

Typical Devils fan claiming I said something I did not say. I never said Holtz or Mercer are not good prospects, they just aren't nearly as good as you people pretend they are.
Casey on the other hand would be small for a forward and is tiny for a defenseman. He'll be lucky if he makes it as an NHL regular at all and no just because he's the same height as Quinn Hughes (and 20 lbs lighter) doesn't mean he's the next Hughes.

2024 Top 10 Draft Predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Extremely bold choices</div></div>
Well a few caveats:
- I think Demidov could drop out of the top 5. Personally I beleive he's overrated by quite a bit and then there's Russian factor too, how long will it be before he makes it to NA if he ever does?
- Iginla could drop a spot too if a few GMs like Levshunov or some of those pure "offensive" defensemen (Buium, Parekh, etc.) more than I do but I doubt that happens.
- I don't see Iginla making it past Montreal at 5th either unless Lindstrom is still available at 5th too.
- I don't see the Sens passing on Yakemchuk either. An offensive right shot defenseman who's big and has a good physical game too? He fits their needs perfectly.
- Catton is a little overrated too, he's a bit on the small side, isn't good defensively and probably winds up a winger in the NHL.

No worries about that since the Flames wouldn't do it anyhow. I said it was "closer than most of the crazy Habs trades around here" but it's still not something the Flames would do.

Fair value moving up from 10th to 5th for a middle 6 winger / bottom 6 center. The only problem is NJ wants a starting goalie, not a better pick.

More BS from the Jersey Trolls. Just because they keep repeating the same crap over and over doesn't make it true.
The deal was Mercer/Holtz + 2024 1st + Casey. Calgary asked for Mercer, NJ wanted to keep him and move Holtz instead. NJ also wanted retention, Calgary didn't want to retain. Then Casey got added but no word on if that minor addition changed Calgary's willingness to retain salary or take Holtz instead of Mercer.

Devils aren't the only team interested, the price is going up, possibly higher than it was at the deadline and that was NJ's 2024 1st + Mercer/Holtz + Casey. That 1st is 10th OA now rather than the 16-20 something it was expected to be if the Devils had gotten Markstrom at the deadline. It should be enough to get Markstrom + something else like 28th OA or a player/prospect worth a late 1st.
