Yeah, i just think Debrincat fits in with the guys Yzerman signed last summer (copp etc) but you’re right, he didn’t trade high picks for those veterans.

Okay, go back to 2020 draft and tell me (outside of the top 5 cuz the DET pick is no.9) who is an established NHLer 3 years after getting drafted

Fair enough. The opportunity to lock in a guy for 8 years, who’s only 25, whos hometown is DET, who’s scored 40 twice in 6 years (would of been 3 times if not for short season in 2020) is appealing to a lot of people I bet and I don’t think the line in the sand is drawn over 8 slots in the draft.

Fair enough. I think it’s too ballsy for DET to pass up debrincat for 8 slots in the draft, when they have been **** for a long time and probably want to win sooner rather than later.

How many years has Detroit been terrible? They really wanna hold on to no.9 pick and wait 5 years for the kid to develop MAYBE. Debrincat is legit and your nuts to think otherwise

Yes i did. I just think it’s non sense. A two time 40 goal guy who had a down year and still netted 27, who’s eligible to sign a long extension, who’s 25 years old, can easily fetch a 1st and 2nd. Cmon.

Also thinking that 7OA in '22 is better than '9OA in '23 is also absurd.</div></div>

2 time 40 goal guy, eligible to sign a long extension, and you guys think these are negatives? IF he is willing to sign with whoever he gets traded too, he will easily fetch a 1st, 2nd etc. just imo

True... I’m assuming they have no choice but to shed some salary because they need to sign guys like Pelech, Beaulliveur, Palmeiri etc. and would consider trading Pulock only because it’s a position of strength at RD with Mayfield and Dobson.
