Anyone disappointed we only did 1 trade
You have to remember that the devils could only really add 1 damn before the expansion draft because they had room to protect him. If they added a forward you are exposing and likely losing McLeod and I didn't see anyone moved for a forward that I'd happily lose him for. Also apparently the Devils were in on Senko but the blues wanted too much for him. We still have 30M in cap space to work with this offseason and even more, if Seattle decides they want a year of PK (although my money is on them taking Johnsson and betting on a bounce-back season)

Hall

Thats fine. If im the Devils I decline this anyway. Marner is good but not worth $11MM a year, especially with a flat cap.

Leafs Nation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Leafs are getting destroyed in that trade. Period. Anyone who thinks any different doesn’t know a thing about hockey.
Leafs do not need draft capital. Especially latter mid 1sts. They are trying to push now not rebuild. Even if they wanted to rebuild they would get twice that return for nylander. It’s not even close.</div></div>
You're right, they dont need draft capital, they need cap space to improve the right side. The only assets they can take on that doesn't eat into their cap space are picks and prospects.
The whole league knows that Toronto wants a good RHD whether it be Petro (who wont be signing at 8mill if he goes to UFA), Vatanen, Schultz, or Brodie and needs to clear cap to do so. Cap space is an asset and no good GM is gona do the Leafs any favors. This is especially true with the flat cap and limited teams that will have the space and desire to take on salary this offseason.

Making the right moves
NJ Passes
Sevo is the best of the 3 NHL defenseman the Devils have, hes not getting traded. I don't really believe the rumor that things have soured but even if they have NJ doesnt have enough bodies to trade him amd wont unless the package blows them away.

Leafs Nation
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>stevod_97</b></div><div>I was thinking maybe go with New Jersey's 1st but chances are they don't want to give up their own 1st but with 2 other 1st round picks, the Leafs might want the middle of 1st round picks in a deep draft. Plus the Leafs stock the cupboards with Clarke and McCarthy and if they have cap space to sign them in the future, they can sign them. Otherwise, they can trade them for more assets, but I do like the potential of both of them.</div></div>
i like this trade for both teams as well but I would want it to happen at the draft in case there is a guy NJ really likes at 18. Because i think pick 20 could get this done in a pinch depending on who's available and who each team is high on. At that loint in the draft the Leafs and NJ likely have 2 different guys pegged as BPA and would have a sense of when they will be available.
You are also correct in assuming 7OA is not getting moved by NJ.

Big investment to accumulate assets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>datools</b></div><div>Internal Cap and a desire to pitch to Hall, but yes I see your point, maybe just one of those two contracts would suffice!</div></div>
So my issues with this from the Devils side:
The Devils arent gona resign Hall (said prioritizing payoffs over $) and they dont need to dump salary to do so (or in general).
PK is overpaid but hes still an NHL defenseman and we have about 3 of those under contract atm (not counting rookies we expect to play this year).
Bahl is the most intresting prospect the Devils got for Hall and the whole deal almost didnt happen because the Yotes didnt want to include him, hes not getting moved this offseason.
Lastly, I like Duclare but I believe youre overvaluing him. He had a good year, but the 2 before it were meh so hes not a guarantee. He could be a 40pt player or it could be the case of someone has to score on a bad team (no offense NJ is garbage too). Its not 1 to 1 but he could be like Dzingle last year (although he played with Stone).
