Nah man thats to much, we've seen Meier, Fiala Horvat , Giroux, DeBrincat. Domi, Bertuzzi, Chychrun, P.Kane, Tarasenko, ROR, Ekholm, all get traded in the past year, none fetched 2 first round picks

All trades are fine besides the Colorado one, 2 firsts for Kuzzy is nuts, adding Girard on top of that? getting a bit to horny with that one

Sorry bro, but the Kadri boat has sailed. Y'all gave him a pretty bad deal and even with the retention the Avs aren't taking his cap hit

Anyone who pays Dubois 8.5M should be fired immediately
All of these trades should be declined by Calgary too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MrLaheySays</b></div><div>its not being a casual if you know the ****ty oilers are having cap issues and the players listed are a main source. stop trying to glorify what you listed as trade bait, otherwise youd fight for them, not dump them. The overall deal isnt bad for anyone just to clarify, but its easy to see what the main grasp/goals are.
i also think you could get a lot more for that Soup deal if you ask me.</div></div>
Those players are not the cap issues, It's Nurse and a bunch of slight overpays that have added up. Thank you for pointing out the unsupportive Edmonton fans though too.
See some shtty Oilers fans. This is what you create by continuously trading your supposed favourite teams players like cap dumps. The worst fans with part timers in the NHL IMO. More likely to join in putting fellow fans and Oilers players down than defend them.

3way with COLWPGVAN
Further to my comments above, this roster leaves the Avs with $3.3m to fill two middle 6 wing spots for a 22 man roster. They can focus on adding wingers at the deadline.
The core of the roster would all be locked in for 2+ years with no significant contracts until Rantanen in 2025, by which time the cap is projected to have risen to accommodate his raise. If needed Manson will be a pending UFA in 2025 and can be moved to open capspace then too.
If Landeskog returns in the summer of 2024 and cap is needed you can move Manson with 2 years left since his NTC expires then.

Offersheeting Miller would be significantly cheaper for the Canucks instead. They aren't giving up multiple high-end assets for a pending UFA

I think Garland is a little too expensive for us if his cap hit was better id say yes but If we do this idea you have we would have no cash for depth and signing players like sandy.

Girard is NOT the "odd man out" - the Avs want to keep him and will do so unless they get an offer they can't refuse. They would definitely refuse this offer.

That’s an incredibly steep price to pay for the Avalanche. A former first, a first, and one of their most promising prospects for a guy (68 pt scorer) on the last year of his contract, without retention, and two middle round picks.

Getting a haul for Toews
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Teams are frequently permitted to speak with agents and players prior to making a trade, yes. That does not however change the FACT that they are traded as a pending UFA and then sometimes sign deals after.
There are only 2 sign-and-trades in NHL History. The first was Hossa for Heatley, where Ottawa signed Hossa to an extension and then immediately traded him to Atlanta without telling him he was being traded during the contract negotiations. The 2nd was Matthew Tkachuk to Florida last year because Florida wanted to lower Tkachuks AAV and have him signed for 8 years but Calgary was the only team in the league that could sign him to an 8 year deal.
There has never been a sign-and-trade with a pending UFA as there is zero benefit for the acquiring team to pay extra for them to be pre-signed. And since conditional re-sign picks were made illegal in the last CBA update it is impossible to market a pending UFA as anything more than a rental. So yes actually it is completely unrealistic to think it could play out that way.</div></div>
This is all true. However, for the Avs to get full value for Toews in any trade scenario, he would have to agree to a new extension with the new team. So he would be given permission to negotiate with teams in advance. If he is going to be a rental anywhere, it will be with the Avs as he is far more valuable to the team as a rental than what he would bring in a trade return from a team that viewed him as a rental.
In the event that Toews wants more money or term than the Avs are willing to give him, I could see this scenario play out:
1. The two sides realize they are too far apart on $ or term to get a deal done.
2. Toews gives the Avs a list of teams that he is willing to sign a long term extension with.
3. Avs find a trade package with one or several of those teams that they would accept for Toews.
4. Toews is allowed to negotiate a new contract with that team(s).
5. If they come to an agreement, then the trade is finalized. Toews signs the extension after the start of the new league year.

You aren’t trading a top pairing dman for a winger because it is a whole lot easier to find a winger then a top pairing dman.
