He's a good 3rd pairing defenseman but it's bad from an asset management POV. And $2.75M is a lot for a 3rd pairing guy when the Oilers have 3 cheap young players who can step into that position next fall, one of whom is already there. As a target, it doesn't make a lot of sense for the Oilers IMO.</div></div>
I specifically said NOT one for one. The destination makes sense Non roster assets make sense if Seattle wants to move a contract that is the only one i have time for. maybe Eberle?

Secondly, the Blues were not trying to win a Cup and did not expect to make the playoffs (even though they damn near did anyway in the end) when they dealt Statsny, and Elliott was an offseason trade. These examples are from totally different circumstances, and thus irrelevant.</div></div>
This is probably getting hard for you. Im sorry on behalf of all Oilers fan...
ATTENTION OILERS FANS: HUSSO IS THE BLUES STARTER THEY ARE NOT TRADING HIM. IT WOULD BE LIKE ASKING THEM TO TRADE BINNINGTON WHEN THEY STARTED THEIR CUP RUN IN 19...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>What are you trying to say here - that he looks good compared to a raw rookie?? Oooo, sign me up!! Honestly the gap isn't large and Nemo will be better for the experience, meaning the gap will only shrink going forward. I'm still not seeing anything close to a justification for this idea.</div></div>
Its an immediate upgrade without being a full stop gap. Nemo still can get games in while adding experienced depth.... im not sure how you arent on the same page as me. Like i said i understand that it isnt a homerun swing but this is still valuable return that will help us win games now and keep building and growing a piece that will help in the future.

Not a serious up grade to Nemo i get that. I do think you are prone to set yourself up for failure deploying to many young/rookie defenseman. Soucy is somebody that could play RD and there is no issues with having to many good young defense, I think Soucy adds a bit more stability. His cap is super friendly as well compared to the two above....

Im not saying straight across, Im saying Soucy PLUS. I think he adds some more depth, can play a nice shutdown hard to play against game and can be deployed on either side. He is also from the area and local products have a soft spot in my heart. Soucy and a 3rdish range would be great value.

Our rookies are ready for a shot on LD (Broberg, Nemo, Lags) so Matta and Chiarot are terrible acquisitions, (one maybe but not both) spend that money on a Manson or De Haan for the upgrade on RD since Koekkoek isnt even a good AHL player now. Kane will fetch at least 5Mil+ on a one year in the open market as his previous contract was 7.5Mil so retaining his services are likely not going to be possible.

Yea I agree with this. Holloway would only be moved as the starting piece (I'm assuming about 3 other High quality pieces as well) to get Igor which I really don't think either team/Fanbase would be super stoked about.

I believe Ken Holland will over pay / get fleeced in every trade (2 seconds for AA LOL) so I tried to be semi realistic.

Kinda the price you have to pay at this point. We had the opportunity to get this thing right in the offseason and Kenny boy blew it. A late first and a Second aren't really a concern if you can keep Manson around and Georgiev and Skinner will run the net next year.

Who says no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>Neat, why would Philly trade a long term cost controlled asset at a position that notoriously takes longer to develop for a goalie that isn't close to equal, a RW streaky scorer that has had troubles scoring on McDavid's wing at times this year, a pick that will be in the bottom 20 - 32 of the draft and a D man that can't seem to crack a really bad D core..? Value can be what it is but those pieces from Edmonton don't help Philly in any way at all, creates a hole at a position that is hard to draft and develop and brings in very middling pieces.</div></div>
Because its the sum of all those parts.
Samu isnt cracking the lineup mostly due to old hockey men that where blocking him. I cant see that being an issue going forward with Woodcroft and Manson at the Helm. Has played very well in the AHL.
Skinner is currently trending really well and of course he isnt looking elite early i see him being an import part of this franchise for a while.
A first regardless of when the pick is still holds a ton of value in the league.
And finally Puljujarvi is soooooo much more than a streaky scorer and had proved to be one of our best two way forwards this year. If you have some time to check out his advanced analytics it paints a picture to how important he is to this team and he is on pace for 50 Points.

Carter Hart for 2022 first, Jesse Puljujarvi, Dmitri Samorukov and Stuart Skinner — Uk M.
Exec No. 1: Edmonton says no. That’s a lot — way too much for Hart.
Exec No. 2: Edmonton says no.
Pronman: Hart has bounced back this season so I thought this was an interesting gauge of his trade value. NHL personnel still like the player but probably not to the level of his value two years ago.
Directly from NHL Execs lol (Expert from Corey Pronman of the athletic literally a couple days ago)

But with Holtby as a 1-year rental, EDM could look at signing Husso as a UFA in the summer for free. My other goalie target would be Reimer in SJS, but with him and Smith both being signed next year it complicates things a bit, since Skinner will require waivers then.</div></div>
Yea I see Skinner being our guy next year, I could see Smith retiring this year and i would love to see him transitioned to a Goalie Coach and stay with the Org.

These are great solutions. I would be inclined to try and target Husso alternatively. Moves like this would be excellent.
