Forgot to include a note about Calgary sending pick/prospect to Isles as part of deal. Perhaps that is Bolduc, maybe someone in Calgary system.

They'd rather get picks and/or prospects.
About Petro: Sorry, but I just can't get all that excited about signing a soon-to-be 31 y/o D man to a long, expensive contract that will be an albatross in 3 years when they go to re-sign Mac and have already doled out serious bank to Landy and Makar and had to re-sign Byram.</div></div>
For some reason I thought Hjalmarsson is 35, must've been looking at Goligoski's DOB. So this is not the advantage I thought it would be to Arizona. I won't delete this team, but I'll rework it sometime.

I'm not an Avs fan, btw. Just working through some ideas for how things might shake out in this strange offseason. Can't quite figure out where Pietrangelo is going to land. I'm a Blues fan, but not upset at the idea of not bringing him back. Army made a dumb move with the Faulk contract and now he has to sleep in the bed he made. Colorado seems as logical a place as any for Pietro, maybe higher AAV and fewer years, idk.

New Arizona GM was part of scouting staff that drafted Johnson. He's not young, but younger than Hjalmarsson, and gives a little stability, rather than letting Hjalmarsson walk after the season. Can cut payroll in other areas. Just a thought, I'm not thrilled with this trade, just trying to find a landing spot for Johnson to make room for Pietrangelo.

Also wants to win and have stability. Could he make more from another team? Quite likely, but I believe he will take a little less to be on a winner. Who can afford him? Very few current contenders/up-and-comers.

Btw, I realize I mentioned a young D in my previous response to you, but then they signed Pouliot and Dotchin.

Not necessarily on the block, but he's got one year left and might be too expensive to re-sign. So they could move him now, move him at the deadline, or they certainly could keep him and just let him walk after the season. Not sure what to say from Calgary in a deal. Maybe one of the young D and Jankowski, something like that.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about that one. I would add Kostin or Fabbri if they want someone more NHL-ready. And another or better pick could be added.

Seems like a win-win deal to me. Pitt gets a good scoring winger with only 1 year on his deal while giving up inconsequential pieces. And Florida gets a 4th line C, backup G and eats a contract to make the dollars work.

Yeah, I figure CBJ would prefer Lehkonen or even one of the surefire top 6 guys in this deal. But I also think CBJ has some depth that can take on more minutes, such as Josh Anderson or Oliver Bjorkstrand. If they can't land a bigger fish, I could see them going for depth at forward with hopes of Texier or someone else grabbing an opportunity.

I like Rick Tocchet's philosophy that he'd like 2 centres on every line for various faceoff and defensive coverage scenarios.
Also would like to say I'm not a Habs fan, just playing around with rosters for fun. I'm a Blues fan and they had quite a bit of success this year with natural centre Robert Thomas shifted over to RW. Certainly some players are ready for full-on centre responsibility at an early age but I like the idea of easing the young player in at wing. Blues fans expect Thomas to be a top-six centre for many years to come, much like Poehling for Montreal.

I don't disagree on the Carolina deal, but prospect plus pick is the main point. Frees up space. Korpisalo is probably not going to be available in that deal, but I thought inclusion of Kostin and a puck would get it done. Korpisalo is younger, has more upside than the guys you mention, and upside is not a bad thing to horde.

I did consider better alternatives for the defense trade. I ruled out Subban because of his age and being in the same division. I ruled out Letang because it takes away from Pittsburgh too much, they wouldn't do it. And his age. I considered Aaron Ekblad, but they're gonna be in win-now mode next season too, and wouldn't make this move. I thought Trouba really would be a good fit, but probably only in a 3-way deal and with a contract. Other possibile fits probably aren't moving (Doughty, Burns, Karlsson).
