Jarry for Gibson
No reason for Pens to do this imo
Gibson is older, higher cap hit & statistically the worse goalie

Minor Moves revised
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>The difference between Lindgren and Kaliyev is not a 2nd round pick. Kaliyev may be struggling to find a place on the Kings, but he's still a quality player with 4+ years of team control remaining. Lindgren is a solid backup goaltender that will be a UFA next summer.
If anything, it's an even swap.</div></div>
Lindgren has put up solid starter numbers on a bad Caps team. And if he hadn’t missed a week or two he’d have starter GP this season too. Not to mention trading for him would allow the Kings to spend only ~$2mil on goaltending again next year since he has proven capable of being a full time starter
Kaliyev is an occasional healthy scratch that has clearly lost favor in the organization. That trade ain’t 1 for 1
Maybe Kalyiev + a 3rd

The Snake is back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>I see what you're going for, and in theory the development climbs of Zherenko and Ellis make this sort of trade feasible if not logical in some respects, but I'm not retaining a big amount for multiple years on Binnington for just a passable return. As long as Krug is here, he's first in line for the take a large cap hit prize, and nobody else is in second. I don't want to stack up a bunch of dead cap. The1st could be useful, Casey could be a decent Faulk replacement in a while, but it's not enough for me to start digging a dead cap hole. And trading Binnington would likely have a bad effect on the team anyway. They might see him as the pope by now, he's saved their souls so many times.
Who else is nicknamed Snake?</div></div>
Was thinking blue fans might have given Jakub Vrana that nickname lol

No actual contender is gonna go after Gibson tho. So he isn’t gonna have the greatest choices outside of staying in Anaheim and hoping they start to contend for playoffs next year

Offseason trade idea
I would think they’ll just let Marchy walk rather than trade Karlsson. Mostly due to age and him being a center.
But if they were to trade Karlsson there’s no way they’re retaining on him for a team that has 13mil in cap space

24 year old stud 1st line power forward with term on his contract and no “trade clauses”</div></div>
Cristall, 1st & Iorio is closer to that than Leonard & 1st
“Great young piece” + 1st or top 10 prospect in the entire NHL + 1st
Which is it?

The pick is 15 rn based on points %
Players don't tank, management can only try. If the Caps had wanted to tank that hard they would've moved Dowd, TVR, Jensen, etc for peanuts at the deadline.
Also, there is like a 0% chance they pick top 5 (without winning the lottery). They're 15 points above a top 5 pick

Federick is "so much better" than a guy who has more PPG than him coming off an injury where he started a little slow.... suuuure.
Also add in that the Caps are a bottom team in GF/pg which makes Paccioretty's higher point/pg more impressive lol
I'll give you that they're similar skill level when you factor in defense. But "so much better" is homer talk bro
