Murrays worth
Most insiders are saying a second and a mid-level prospect. He's an arbitration rights RFA so that really hurts his value. If Pittsburgh is able to sign him to a 5.5mil contract or less before trading him his value might increase to a low end first+ some lower picks.

Sorry, but that'd put Pittsburgh over the cap. Also, why would PIT want Staal? An older, more expensive Bjugstad and we give up more assets? Not taking that.

Pittsburgh Next Year

JJ is a physical defenseman in his early 30s. There's a strong chance that he could be seriously injured and be eligible for LTIR. The cap shows no signs of going down unless it's renegotiated down in the new CBA in 2022. Even at that, JJ would be in the last stretch of his contract and there would probably be compliance buyouts.
If this doesn't happen, buying him out would remove a lot of the burden

This team needs more speed. Is shows with Rust hurt.
Jugs and Hornqvist are pretty good bets to be gone next year. All slower feet players out.</div></div>
I just don't think P.O Joseph will be ready next year. I expect him to be given a trial run next year, but I don't expect him to wow anyone. I think he's 2-3 years out of being a full time NHLer
Yes, we need more speed, but I don't think we'll be able to make any major moves until the Letang and Malkin contracts come off the books. They'll probably take pay cuts and then we could afford to bring in some major pieces to bolster the team

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AFOX10900</b></div><div>Why bring back Hayes... Lol, if you're going to bring someone back, bring back G. Wilson, but we have plenty of guys that will fill that role next year, A. Johnson can be there, Miletic, and maybe Lafferty and/or Angello can be that, and if we keep Blandisi he can be a 14th forward as well, and I'd rather any of those guys to Hayes lol
And MP will probably cost close to if not over 4 mil, bc the deal he took this year, especially over 4 yrs</div></div>
I mean, it's a minimum contract. I wouldn't argue replacing him with any of the players you mentioned. As for Marcus, I get that he probably would initially want that much, but I could see him taking less. Term is slightly unreasonable I'll admit though.

NYR 2019
I don't know if Melnyk is willing to take that deal. He doesn't really seem to care about the on ice product as long as he gets his money, and he'd have to pay Smith's salary while MacArthur's would be paid mostly by insurance.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgfresh78</b></div><div>Even though the pens would’ve had sundqvist in 2018 I still think the Brassard Trade happens. Idk why I traded Bjugstad for Montour but I feel like they would have traded for Montour had they not gotten Gudbranson. I plan on revisiting this later tonight and creating a fully accurate what if scenario.</div></div>
If you were going to do that, It'd probably be better to just use a custom team and explain trades using the description.

2019-2020 Pittsburgh
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DiehardRedWingsFan58</b></div><div>Jet's easily match a $6 million OS on Jacob Trouba, Realistically it would probably need to be in the $9 million range for Chevy to pause and take the picks. And we all know that Jacob isn't worth more then $7 million per long term.</div></div>
Even if they wanted to they couldn't. Despite Laine having an off year, He's going to be getting a hefty raise. Probably in the 7 million range. With that, they wouldn't have the cap space to match it. Combine that with other RFAs getting raises such as Kyle Connor. They could feasibly trade away players to afford him, but why would they when Trouba basically said that he would never play in Winnipeg again. It just doesn't make sense to make trades to match the offer on a player that doesn't even want to play in Winnipeg.
