<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Your opinion on teams that won’t step up during the draft seems pretty short sighted. Both Detroit and Ottawa can easily deal with their one year contract players. All it takes is one of those teams with weak goaltending to step up.

Could argue the following teams will be in the market for an upgrade.

Carolina
Chicago
Colorado
Columbus
Detroit
LA Kings
New Jersey
Ottawa
Pittsburgh
Philly
San Jose
Toronto
Utah

Assuming that 1 won’t step up to lock in their goaltender before free agency seems pretty shortsighted to save a bonus payout on a goalie who is relatively cheap.

Several of those situations are better for a goaltender vs Jersey. I’m not quite sure why some Jersey fans have lost site on the actual goal of securing a goaltender. Ullmark is probably the best combination of age and cost on the market.</div></div>

And how many teams on that list would be ones that make no sense to trade for an Ullmark? SJS, Utah, CHI are just bad, they aren't thinking about an Ullmark. PIT is going to get a goalie as they get bad while they still have Jarry? Philly just got their Russian kid. Ullmark would waive for OTT? CBJ (also having to move Elvis?).

This is a stack list of teams that just don't make sense. If you want to add Markstrom to this conversation, he's already said he wouldn't waive for LAK but would for NJD and CGY fudged that up at the deadline and pissed him off. Markstrom isn't waiving for nearly any team on this list.

If CAR moves on from Anderson for a year, I'd happily go for him if CAR wanted to pay up for Ullmark early.
