Flyers Avs 3C Swap
Have to remember it was Colton's RFA rights for that 37th pick as a guy who'd played primarily wing, not a signed Colton after (what looks likely to be) a career year whilst playing C and also have to factor in his being 2 years younger than Laughton. The Avs probably have to consider it though if it comes with a sweetener.

I know you're big on G but that list is definitely tradeable. All of them for different reasons. They simply won't be just giving any of them away regardless of needing the cap space.

NJD should/would offer the Avs back what they paid for colton

COL isn’t doing that, a top 4 dman and 3C for a bottom 6 forward and some meh picks. And BTW COL is not going to extend Walker.

No stanley cup
I get the frustration but you can’t be dumb enough to think Prosvetov is the answer to any question. Dude is in the running for worst goalie to ever play for COL in the NHL, zero rebound control and substandard lateral movement. Everybody acts all shocked by Bednar’s TOI plan, it hasn’t changed in the last 5 years, the top line plays 20+ minutes, the 2nd line plays around 18 ish, 3 and 4th split 20 ish minutes. The really question does Bednar have the stones to turn to Annunen in the playoffs because it isn’t close to how well they are playing. Georgiev had almost a week off and some of the goals he allowed last night are just total nonsense, and ffs can you not let in the first goal of the game every game you play?

He's been skating for about a month already. And from the video I've seen he looks pretty good already. I doubt he will be sidelined until December. Also, like others have said, CHI will likely be trying to get positive value for him at next years deadline. Making a swap like this would just be giving him away.

Firstly the Habs don't give up all those pieces. Secondly, none of those pieces work for the Avs. Mitts was brought in for one reason.......2C. There is no 2C in the pieces coming back. Therefore it's a simple no for the Avs on that alone.

Mittelstadt Comps
Given that a two-year contract takes Mittelstadt directly to free agency, the only rational possibilities are one season or long-term (five to eight). I think that 6 x $5.75 is right on the median.

rants
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Isn't it basically impossible for the cap to reach $100M in two years due to the limit on the maximum percentage it can rise? Isn't that why it's only going up $4M+ next season and then $5M+ the following season? I guess they could amend the CBA or come up with a new one before the old one expires but I am under the apprehension that under the current CBA, they can't just make that jump even if HRR is in line with such a raise.</div></div>
My main hope is because most owners/f.o's also want the cap to go up. Might be one of the few times the league n P.A can find a common goal. I thought the cba was up sooner, this will be interesting to follow and will show what Walsh is worth. I can see a strike or protest if the caps stays 16.5m under what it should be while paying 6% escrow(3%returned) when the league is openly making more than their agreement. I havent read it fully but I would have to assume those caps increase limits has to do with the debt that has been repayed.

Mittelstadt Comps
1st the pens aren't going to waste 4 mil on Colton. You probably going to have to dish that off to a team looking to hit cap floor like SJS or CHI.
I think you are aiming low on the contract.
as for comparable it's kind of all over here. Given not all are 2 C.
Frost went at 2.1 after a 46 point year.
Zegras went at 5.75 after a 65 point year.
Newhook 2.9 after a 30 point year.
Chytil got 4.4 for a 45 point year.
It all depends if you are going to get a RFA discount or not, it's not always the case. When it's not you are looking at 100k a point. Sometimes a bump for playing center.
If it's not slightly less. But the cap is also going to rise for the first time in years.
My guess is he hits 60+ points. I don't think he has any loyalty to Col having just been traded there. If he was going to sign for a discount maybe he'd still be in BUF?
Low end 6 mil, 5.75 average on some comparable + a bump for the cap going up. You are aiming not taking into account the cap increase.
High end, 6.5 to 7 The roughly 100k a point mark, slight bump on the center role.
I also think you are either going to have to add or subtract years here.
No way he signs 6 years. He's 26 next year. That puts him out at 31. Wrong side of 30. You are probably looking at a short bet on himself deal of 2-3 years at a lower cap hit, aka the 6 mil range. Or an 8 year deal. Paval and Zegs took short deals 3 and 4 years. Which is why the cap hit is lower. If you want 6 years the answer is probably no, they will push to 7 or 8 and then want premium. AKA 100k a point.
Most likely 3 year deal, 6 mil, the Zegs contract + a bump for the cap rise. They become FA at 28 and then sign a 7 year deal probably the best way to max his money as he gets his highest contract to 35.

Rantanen trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Thorne</b></div><div>Who would you get rid of next summer? On top of losing Drouin and Walker for nothing, COL has to get rid of atleast one roster player (Girard, Colton, Lehkonen) to make the cap work if they insist on keeping Rantanen. While I agree that keeping Rantanen probably gives us the better roster for 24-25, I think that by trading him COL can extend the cup-contending window beyond 26-27 (Makar extension).</div></div>
Colton. Not because I dislike him in any way but because he's the most replaceable. The only way you trade Rants is if you're thinking of doing something like going after Guentzel in free agency and trading for Crosby if he were to suddenly be available.

He would take his QO and walk to FA before taking a bridge.</div></div>
That's a good question cause I Googled mittelstadt contract and before he got traded a a website was saying they predict 2-3 year bridge deal for 4 million or long term 6x6 million. I was going off what they put

Stamkos Leonard Manson Skjei
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>I'm one who disagrees with that. Manson is much older than Girard and has less term; I believe they can find another 3rd pair level guy that can play physically enough to replace that aspect of Manson's game even if he can't replace the offense and puck-moving. Plus, Manson has a lengthy injury history; what happens if Manson gets hurt 20 games into next season and they have no Girard? I am in the camp that believes it would be a mistake to trade Girard rather than Manson if they do go down the path of trading a D to create cap space.</div></div>
Yep, you and I are very much in opposite camps on this one as far as which D to trade, I'd noted that one previously. I can however see both sides of the argument there. Thing is I'd prefer they traded one of the forwards over any more of the D even if Girard would be my choice there ahead of Manson. As much as I've liked Colton's play I think it was a mistake to sign him to that deal (they pretty much had to after trading for him and probably were hoping for less and I think it's come back to bite them in the proverbial) probably even more than signing Manson to his. He would be my first choice to move if any. He's the most easily replaced of the 4-5 mil contracts imo.

I wouldn't go quite so far as to say they wouldn't win any more cups and they could easily retool rather than rebuild, but that said, there is no real reason to trade him.

Yeah, you can drop the third line to keep Rantanen, but then you become the Leafs, too top heavy to win.</div></div>
LOL! You CAN have depth, you just have to be frugal with what you pay and trust some of the youth.
