No Landy Long Term Outlook
Levi is the truth, but he isn't what the Avs would look at imo. They tend to target Russians, ex- Caps, and back ups looking to become a starter.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>There is plenty of room for an inexpensive rookie that can score and make plays; even if he ends up playing wing, they have a spot for him no problem. I see him having a far better shot at the NHL than Olausson. And if he looks like a legit 3C option, you trade Colton to make more room to re-sign Georgie or add elsewhere.
I wouldn't want to trust a rookie G with the Cup window; it can take a long time for goalies to fully develop.
Let's tap the brakes on Kovy being a $4.5M player; dude hasn't even played a game of NA hockey yet. We'll see where he is after next season but he'll still be an RFA so no need to project throwing a ton of cash his way just yet.</div></div>
This all this. Kovalenko has always profiled as a bottom 6 guy, and in the last 2 months I’ve seen Avs fan start acting like he is a top 6 guy that is going to be an instant stud. Ritchie is almost the opposite, before his draft year some were projecting him top 10 gets hurt, plays hurt the whole season, draft stock takes a hit and falls to COL. There is a reason COL would not trade him at the deadline and I’d be more than okay if on his elc he took the 3C role from Colton making Colton a trade candidate.

2nd attempt for a Markstrom offer
Scratch Colorado from your list. No cap space for Markstrom even if they wanted him and the Flames wouldn't be getting Ritchie either. It simply doesn't work for the Avs and only works for the Flames.

Whether or not it's close in value the likelihood of the Avs having any interest is so slight and the likelihood of Ritchie being involved even more slight that the other 30 teams are probably more likely future homes for Markstrom. There is simply no cap space for Markstrom in Denver.

They gave up a stud in Byram to get him.

Avs say no.
1. Overpay
2. Unnecessary
3. Can't afford him
4. Those assets are more valuable to them individually than adding Markstrom.

Ritchie probably isn’t ready next year, and don’t need Martinez with Malinski and Behrens(probably), don’t need Talbot with Annunen, and if Landeskog starts the year on LTIR that’s probably it for him. Don’t know Walker takes that deal but sure.

Make an Avs one if you know the team well enough. A 5m 2c is affordable for the Avs without moving additional pieces like Manson. A Wood move is the most likely.

The 9th overall pick, in a weak draft might I add, is likely to be about an ordinary 2LD. Or what Girard is right now. And that is after years of development which does nothing to help a contender like COL in the short term.

Easy no for the Avs on that Girard trade. It's not even close. Annunen will be back up next year but don't see them moving Prosvetov like that either. Keep him for if a goalie goes down. The D is nasty and that Mitts contract is probably in the perfect mid-territory to be declined imo.

cap circumvention
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Is this some sort of joke? Do people ever get tired of whining about this? Apparently not. They played all of last season WITHOUT him on LTIR in case he did come back but now they're gaming the system? Also, get your facts straight: he isn't coming back any sooner than mid-May and it is extremely unlikely he comes back for these playoffs at all. Given the timetable for his recovery, it's practically guaranteed he isn't coming back before next season. He has a serious knee injury and highly risky cartilage replacement and hasn't played for two years. There is still the very real possibility he never plays a game of NHL hockey again but you think this is "cap circumvention." Give me break and get a life.</div></div>
They also had a chance to do this in 2021-22, when he had arthroscopic surgery before TDL, and they didn’t. Instead they traded locker-room favorite Tyson Jost to make room for their additions. Landeskog didn’t come back until game 1 of the playoffs, but they wanted to make sure they could get him in sooner if he was ready. And they still won.

Thread:
cap circumvention
Two points:
1. https://www.nhl.com/news/colorado-avalanche-gabriel-landeskog-injury-status-update
‘“He's not going to come back too early -- it's just not going to happen,” Bednar said. “He has a timeline that says, 'You're not coming back before this date, doesn't matter how good you feel,' and we're sticking to that.”’
Surgery was on May 10, 2023. Timetable was 12-16 months, meaning the absolute earliest he’ll be back is mid-May. Dropping a player into the conference finals (if they get there) after he’s been out for two years is far from “intentional cap circumvention”.
If he does come back, he’ll be the first athlete to successfully return to a major-league level after having that surgery. Just getting back on the ice is a win. This has potential to be a Joni Pitkanen situation, to put it in familiar terms.
2. If the LTIR business is allowed under the CBA and other playoff teams are using it to their advantage, why wouldn’t a competitive GM use every available advantage to make his team better?
