Can we get Sevo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>siamro</b></div><div>As a Leafs fan I would love to pick up Severson but I doubt that Jersey would give him up for that package.</div></div>
It would be Amirov OR Knies OR Niemela. Even with the ritchie retention combo, a 1st plus 2 or 3 top prospects is way too much for a shutdown defenseman

alot of what ifs
Disagree with your assessment of the D. This is the exact Dcore that put up 7th in the league overall for GA in the "no defense" North. This year, the only difference is youre replacing a sub .900 freddy with mrazek... i think this could be a defensively sound team. Agree though that forwards are the big question mark. Not worried about the top 6 so much, theyll produce, worry is scoring depth. Someone other than spezza has to step up

Leafs Projected 2021 Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MrDinkiee</b></div><div>Leafs don't have cap space and everyone you wanted to acquire are gone or will cost too much</div></div>
Thats because you threw 5 million at Grubauer who the leafs are not signing. They'll get a 2 million backup and spend the other 3 on a better LW, like a Granlund or a Bunting, add in Galchenyuk on a min deal and that pushes Mikheyev and Engvall down

Leafs Projected 2021 Lineup
Mikheyev and Engvall are not going to be in the top 6. They'll sign at least 1 LW in free agency and either trade for another or bring Galchenyuk back on a cheap deal. No chance of those two in the top 6 though.

Nice Depth
The forward group is indeed nice but I'd worry about that D group. We finally found a stable 6 last year and removing Mo would really hamper it unless Sandin takes a massive leap next year... theres also not much in the way of wiggle room on the backend if Muzzin or Brodie goes down to injury. I think I'd prefer to keep Mo

Allen out and Hamilton Eichel in
I'd guess not enough for Eichel. That 1st is at the end of the round, Kotkaniemi was pretty bad this season and was scratched at times during the playoffs so his value is low. Druin is a weird one to evaluate without knowing whats going on with him. Sabres would be asking for the a 1st and Suzuki as a starting point, they dont want question marks coming back in an Eichel trade

Apparently the leafs said if they cant a deal with Rielly done over the summer, they dont want to let his deal expire - no source on that, it was just another speculation from one of the talking heads on Sportsnet, but it makes some sense to me as far as asset management goes

Nice build here. Trades seem more or less fair across the board. I wonder if the extra $1 million could be spent on someone better than Marc Staal, or maybe just use that space to bring Llijegren up as the extra guy

Reality pplease provide feed back
- I don't think Amirov is going to be ready to make the jump just yet
- Dermott had something like 7 points this season and is still an RFA, so unlikely he gets anything more than 1 million
- With the cap space here, I'd want to sign a better backup than Hutchinson in the $2-3 million range, as well as either a really solid 3rd line centre, or 2 third line forwards to bolster that forward group

Kyle Dubas Burner Account
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TrueCanuck</b></div><div>How exactly is this improving the team?
Coleman is basically replacing Hyman which is at best a lateral move, more of a slight downgrade.
Haula is basically replacing Kerfoot which is a slight downgrade.
Glendening is replacing Engvall which is a lateral move. Glendening is better on the PK slightly but Engvall is far better at 5v5 (where the game is played the most).
Driedger directly replaces Anderson and is a lateral move. Both are good in the regular season and then awful in the playoffs. Driedger likely doesn't sign in Toronto and looks for more of a chance to be a true starter.
Not to mention that Kerfoot has been thrown away here for nothing and his value isn't taken advantage of. After his playoff series he's actually got good value.
The defensive depth isn't addressed after losing Dermott and Hutton. So if there's 1 injury then the defence is screwed (Muzzin can't stay healthy in playoffs).
And Engvall has been thrown away to "anywhere" for what looks for nothing. As inconsistent as he is, he's better off keeping as a depth option and he can be buried in the minors for only $125K against the cap and can come up and play a good checking role if there's injuries.
This team is at best on even par with last seasons team. Is this an improved team? Absolutely not.</div></div>
For me, the argument about Glendenning vs Engvall is moot, Engvall isnt working out here and needs a change of scenery.
Kerfoot is getting taken by the Kraken if we dont trade him, that loses leverage for your return, maybe it could be a 2nd rounder from the canucks, but they could just say "ok, we'll wait for seattle to take him and make a deal with them instead".
Driedger is not a lateral move from Andersen, he's an upgrade. Andersen is 31, and had an 0.895 in 24 games. Driedger is 27 with a 0.927 in 23 games. Clear upgrade and a lower cost.
I think we can agree that the defense was not the issue this playoffs, it was depth scoring. With our current cap situation, its not going to be possible to address both.
Overall, is it a huge improvment? No, but thats just not possible with the flat cap. I think this addresses some of our weakness without sacrificing any prospects.

Glendenning isn’t worth 2 milly though you could probably get him for less. He’s basically a pk specialist and that’s it</div></div>
Yeah I figured, just not sure if someone would overpay him in free agency
