CBO Approach
I’ve seen people trade bad contracts to the Leafs with some other picks or prospects. The Leafs use their CBO on the bad contract and get a couple futures out of it

Copp is good defensively. Probably the best defensive forward if he was to get traded to COL. Similar production offensively to Jost as well. So, I would say yes.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Heiskanen4Vezina</b></div><div>I’d rather pay Dickinson/Dellandrea significantly less than Faksa for the same role. There’s no point having Dickinson, Dellandrea, and Faksa on the NHL roster. All 3 play the same two-way style (all with varying offensive skill sets). Dellandrea is a part of this team’s future so he’s not going anywhere. Between Dickinson & Faksa, Faksa is going to cost more, play the same style, and is more valuable on the trade market.</div></div>
I'm not sold on Dellandrea being a full-time asset for our team the next year. It doesn't follow the way DAL has dealt before with their juniors. Imo Dellandrea is going to play for the AHL team the first year, with possibly having the 9 game tryout period in the NHL. Which is why I'd hesitate in moving Faksa.

Don't see either trade happening. VAN doesn't need really need Klingberg and DAL shouldn't trade Faksa.

It’s pretty close I think, the difference in public opinion is probably due to Makar playing on a team that scores a ton more which boosts is point totals. You really can’t go wrong with either.

Jesus dude you're building a massive strawman here. I think you should prolly logout for the day considering. Wait till the Bs wears off</div></div>
That's exactly what you would say because that's the type of stuff you are doing lol. You are saying Kapanen is worth this for all we know you are probably under the thoughts Kapanen is better than Aho, or Tarasenko, or Marchand because that's just the type of stuff you have done over the past year and a half that I have talked to you. You have only ever overvalued Toronto fans which is a given I slightly do it with the Blues, but I don't go overboard with it like you have, I mean seriously come on dude. I'm not being a strawman it's the same exact topic just making you realize that that is what you are heading towards saying with everything you say here dude. Kapanen had almost 40 points this season. He has limited minutes because last time I checked when he had a higher role he didn't do anything with it. So why don't you just give it a rest already dude. I'm tired of people on capfriendly who have their only point of view try to push it off on everyone else just because their fandom is way beyond hockey logic. I've done it in the past, and I have decided I'm not going to do that. I'm done arguing with someone who doesn't want to rationalize Toronto only want to inflate the skill with arguments that have no statistical or any type of proof for that matter to back it up. Until you can show me some type of proof that isn't coming straight from your asshole. I again bid you a farewell.

This trade is somewhat equivalent to offering Zaitsev and a 2nd for Debrincat.
So NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THANKYOU</div></div>
DeBrincat is way better than Kapanen. Kapanen is your third best RW. While I think Maatta and a 2nd won't cut it, I do not think he has insane value. A 2nd rounder and a B or better prospect should get it done.

CBO- Seabrook
I don't think the issue is value. TOR needs cap more than CHI if there's a CBO. I think it's just that Maatta on a Run and Gun team like TOR and PIT diminishes what Maatta brings. Maatta's a smart defensive Dman that's physical and makes smart plays. He's also slow. I don't think Maatta's a good fit in TOR.

If it came down to it, you'd be able to trade Tavares. CBO's, which won't happen by the way, should be for guys you can't move.

Money is not an issue, really. If we need to pay more for him, that's fine.
I just personally think he needs more time to prove himself. His current form have only lasted two months or so, before that he was a fringe NHL player... I want to see more.

Probably, but the Stars are trying to win now. Coleman has 19 goals, with none coming on the PP. He's also arguably the top penalty killer in the league and is tied for first with 3 SHG's.

Leafs offseason From June 26 to July 02
Now, here's what I don't get. Marner and the Leafs may wind up settling on that term and number, I kind of doubt it, but I recognize it's a possibility. I do not think it's a possibility that it happens before July 1st.
How does that conversation go? "Hey Mitch, here's two million less than what Matthews got. Ya ya I know you were healthier and outscored him and led our team in points, but you're a winger. Oh, and we're buying out an extra year of UFA. That's enough for you to relinquish your biggest bargaining tool, right?"
I know an offer sheet is always a long shot, but if he wants 10.5, and the Leafs are unwilling to give it to him, I really think some team will offer him a very short term deal at 10.5. 1 year at 10.5 from, say, philly? 2020 first, second, third, and a 2021 first for Marner seems like pretty fair value. Wack out a long term extension in January, and it puts the leafs in an extremely tough spot.

Seabrook Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NicholasM2699</b></div><div>Listen, I am NOT suggesting that we dont need the 3rd overall, what I am saying is that losing the entirety of Seabrook's contract allows you to sign Strome and the Cat and also add another piece to the puzzle. I think Eberle is a nice player at 6.5 that can play anywhere in the Top 6.</div></div>
Eberle is not a guy CHI needs. I'd rather take Hayes (in the worse case) for this money, especially if I'm drafting Byram. Does Seabs has bad contract, yes he does. what does he worth? Probably $3.5M max. So yes, you are overpaying about $3m a year, does it worth loosing Byram? NO. Byram is your top D man, so with ELC+$3M difference on Seabs contract he will cost you $3.9M. Not bad for first pair D. Now, what is Seabrook problem, its basically conditioning. Should he loose few lbs, train a bit better, he might improve his skating a bit and it will be even better. He still has great shot, top notch passing and good physicality. I woldn't worry about Seabs in the next 2 years.

That's fair. AND we're 100% allowed to have different opinions. I do think keeping the guy with the 2nd most games played in an Indian Head sweater ever...has value. To me...A lot of value in the short term. Especially with the number of D prospects coming up. Drafting Byram and putting him next to Seabs. Yeah that can help BOTH of them. Even swap Byram with Beaudin...that's still learning WINNING culture. 3 cups and how to win is important. There's a reason BOS is back in the finals...AND TOR which are UBER talented haven't been there in forever. Just my opinion. Also, how do you clear a net without Seabs? Part of their defensive troubles is they're so darn under-sized and weak on the back end. Clearly, Seabs is slow, but 3-4 years is the time to trade him. AZ is still going to be AZ in 4 years.

Kreider and Dvorak
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>So value wise, it's fair? Or you are saying it favors the Rangers? (This armchair is assuming DAL goes 100% all in next year)</div></div>
Nope. I said earlier that DAL is not paying Hintz or Robertson for one year of Kreider. Their prospect pool is too lacking and they've wasted quite amount of picks for rentals this year, so moving prospects is pretty much out of question at this point.
Besides, now that Hintz has become a regular NHL player, his statistics are actually quite nice. 13 points in last 20 games. It's not a stretch to assume he could be a solid 50-point versatile forward for DAL in the future. Long-term, that's much more valuable for DAL than one year of Kreider.
However, I could see NYR getting that kind of return from other teams that have greater prospect pool. DAL is a bad option in that since their prospect pool is relatively lacking.
