Player level is a clear downgrade, but the cap space it grants could be used further to make great moves.</div></div>
At this point, Strome is not a downgrade from Benn. Only difference is Benn has more versatility playing wing or center.

This is brutal....
Shattenkirk no thanks
Chicago declines that before you finish proposing the deal, then you don't even sign the asset you get LOL
Hoffman would have been the better add this past off season instead of Pavelski
Toffoli is meh
Faksa deal is on point, Gurianov and Hintz will ask for more than that. Especially Gurianov for multiple years.

I see a lot of trades on here with Lindell and I just simply don't understand it. He is so so good and Klingberg is Karlsson Lite. Im moving Klingberg and getting a nice return to fill other holes if I am going after a guy like Krug or another top pairing d-man. Watch what Lindell did to the top line for Nashville last year in the playoffs. He reminds me of a prime Brent seabrook or Hjalmarsson and those guys you win cups with. Klingberg is a poor mans Karlsson or Brian Campbell.

If I'm moving a D and signing Krug, I am trading Klingberg for Drouin and keeping Lindell as he is a wayyyyyyyy better defensman then Klingberg. PLus, Lindell has a longer term reasonable cap hit and Klingberg will be getting a bump in two seasons.
Im also buying out Pavelski over Benn as Jamie still plays like a top 6 forward. Pavelski is over the hill and was a poor move by Nill. He doesnt align with the Stars system of stout D to quick offense.

Benn's contract wasn't exactly a mistake. He was awesome before and earned that contract. There wasn't any other way to keep him in the roster.</div></div>
THe mistake was Pavelski's. I think Benn earned that deal. I agree fully.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Imo DAL declines the TOR trade. Overall I see Klingberg being better than Nylander, and Gurianov has been great.
Also if there's CBO coming, the only player they should consider buying out is Benn, sad to say, because of that contract being too risky. Love the guy, but the risk of his contract becoming a liability is too high.</div></div>
I don't agree that Klingberg makes more of a difference then Nylander. Nylander is what is needed up front for this team to drive offense.
Benn can go either way. I think over the next five years, he is making more of a difference in the line-up than Pavelski ever would. That was a mistake by Nill. Benn still has it, and honestly, idk that we can make a decision til they hire a new coach.

Understandable. I get what you're saying. Klingberg can play defense and he is able to play the offensive style as well. But the Stars strength is on defense and they lack playmaking. Gurianov has proven to be very responsible defensively and could help up front and also replace the scoring hole Nylander left behind. I think overall, it is a very fair trade.

Klingberg is better than Tyson Barrie and much cheaper. The Leafs don't need to change personnel as much as they need a system change. BUt this gives them a signed RHD to help stabilize that side and continue to let the young studs like Sandin and Holl continue to develop.

Okay, I agree on Draisaitl not being where he should. Having Draisaitl and Eichel ahead of Bergeron but not Matthews is ludicrous. Draisaitl is sooooooo bad defensively.
Now Carlson....the guy has been incredible and for some crazy BS reason, they are considering Josi the favorite over him for Norris. Josi is great, but he has not done what Carlson has. We are not talking about Erik btw...

Could of swore he was out for a couple different injuries last year. Anyways, nothing wrong with having too many guys that can play wing and Center. Plus Compher is good enough to be a 2nd line player and isnt really getting that having Kadri there.

Yes, wayyyyyy better than Klingberg, hell, if you watch the Stars play, Lindell is better than Klingberg too. Klingberg is good offensively, but that is it. On Makar, they are both elite in different ways. I think Miro gets the tougher minutes and matchups. Hard to tell cause all D-men develop at different rates. Either way, these guys are both elite.

The Pavelski trade makes sense, but the Stars would probably throw Buffalo a pick to avoid retention. I also don't know if you would want Pavelski. He looked lost away from SJ system.
