Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>To move back about 10 spots?
No thanks
I don’t think any team does that</div></div>
Based on any pick chart you want to look at this is an overpay. And those charts are all just based off of former irl trades.
Based on the Sound of Hockey pick value chart: https://soundofhockey.com/2022/06/06/examining-the-value-of-nhl-draft-picks/
Tampa Pick 21 OA: 217.59
34 OA: 121.36
Late 4th: 6.18
<strong>Total Points 345.13</strong>
Buffalo Pick 11OA: 338.98.
So as you can see the trade above is basically dead even, if not favoring BUF a little. If you don't like it that's fine but to say no team does this just isn't correct.

Where's Vlasic? Pass on Lebanc. Poolman is done playing - concussion syndrome. Pretty sure the Reichel at C experiment is over too.

Calgary not doing that for that very reason. the 2025 draft is better
SJ would take Smith and a 2nd for a 7th

In an interview way back, Mark Eaton seemed to think Slaggert has some possible top 6 power forward upside. Sometimes these mid and late round draft picks end up having what it takes to contribute in that kind of role. I don't see it with him. But, it would be a welcome development. haha

Markstrom and Hanifin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Markstrom makes no sense for NJ. He's 34 and is having his best season in years. NJ has a great young group that will be contending for the next decade as long as they add a goalie. Why buy high for a 34 year old? Why not retool this season, considering all the injuries, and contend next year? Trade for Saros in the offseason, who is 6 years younger. The injuries surrounding NJ (As well as the hockey canada case) have greatly impacted on ice play. I just don't understand what people think they can achieve by being buyers this deadline.</div></div>
I wouldn’t be buying either outside of a few lower tier targets and long term fits. I’d go after guys like Pettersson in Pitt, Trenin, Jake Evans.
And I’d see about a Spencer knight. Or also about guys like Kaliyev and Turcotte in LA

I LOVE #8…huge TK fan. Have been saying for some time that the Sens should go after him. He’d fit perfectly into what they need, but with how well the Flyers are doing and TK, I don’t see them trading him. Actually read Flyers talking contract extension for him.

I got a feeling Stone's going to LTIR which will free a good chunk of space
They can use it to add 5.8M Buchnevich then go get Hanifin at 50% ret and maybe move someone like Carrier out to free some room
Either way they always manage to get the room somehow lul.

TDL adding depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>But it's not just one bad game. Did you hear Cooper's comments tonight? It's win 1 lose 1, win 2 lose 2. Their goal differential is +2, which is bad for any playoff team. Vasy has been inconsistent all year, Sergy is irreplaceable. Hanifin is reportedly interested in signing in Tampa, but with what cap space and trade assets can they bring him in? They really don't have the assets to make deadline adds in general. What are they going to do, have no draft picks? I can see this being a retool year where they cash in on trade value and restock the roster in free agency. They can easily contend again next season.</div></div>
They have prospects and future picks still available. They aren't moving any roster players for a haul, so the best plan should be to use some futures to improve depth(and hopefully get it right this time). They could add pure rentals but I'd rather them get a couple of players with term or if ufa/rfa, that they'd likely re-sign. The picks from these next few seasons won't be of any help to this core in winning any more Cups if anyone is being realistic, so if they can be used to acquire better depth, so be it. Brisebois has shown no problem moving picks, and to a lesser degree, prospects, for key additions. While they shouldn't gut all of their best current prospects, if one or two have to go to improve the team now and for the duration of this group's window, so be it.

If you want them to retain that much so that you acquire a top pair dman at 7Mx6.5 years, it’s gonna cost a lot more than 2 mid-late 1sts. Add Knies to that package to get them even a little bit interested

Chicago 24-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Hopefully none of this is happening, aside from the Reichel extension. Vlasic is going to get significantly more than that. KD isn't dipping into free agency, and I doubt most of these guys even make it to free agency. Even aside from all that, there isn't a young up and coming NHLer I want less than Zegras. Reinhart and Guentzel would be great if we were ready to end the rebuild, but CHI is far from ready to add. All this would do is create roadblocks and likely get us stuck in mediocrity for a long time. Also, if CHI is gonna win another lottery, I think I'd rather it be the 2025 draft. Hagens is better than Celebrini, in my opinion. Or, at least, he is going to be.</div></div>
I really wish I would stop seeing Zegras to the hawks on this site. Just simply not the type of player I’d want to bring in.

Only one of those UFA's the Hawks might target is Tarasenko. And they won't be giving anyone a 7 year deal except maybe Vlasic on his new deal. If that's all it took to get Zegras, Hawks probably make that deal. But it's gonna take more than the Hawks are likely willing to spend.

Even if Kane does put up the same or more, for how long? Every player going to the Leafs is also older than Nylander except for Raddysh who is the same age as Liljegren. So, really they would be shrinking their contention window a ton. Obviously, CHI isn't the team to be giving up young players for Nylander but if the Leafs aren't at least getting some younger pieces, it's definitely not worth it. I know Murphy and Jones are younger than Jarnkrok and Brodie but that doesn't change much for me as one guy is a ufa and the other depth.

Interesting development on Klingberg by Dreger
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Comes down to better Defence for your Goaltenders and more Scoring, Grit & Meanness from your 2LD/3LD I guess
Tanev is a better Defender than Brodie, who seems to have a lost a step and both Tanev & Zadorov are MUCH better than Giordano, McCabe, Timmins and Liljegren and any other D-Man TOR has
They’re essentially what TOR needs, hence why Leafs Fans rarely propose any Trades for other D-Man and why all the Rumors out there are about Tanev & Zadorov
You would be the minority bid you don’t think Tanev & Zadorov are wanted or needed by TOR, but of course, you’ve been around awhile and know quite a bit, so… 🤷♂️</div></div>
Sorry, I don't believe in this nonsense about toughness and grit. I would prefer good, instead of this phathom "grit and toughness". If it's so important and Zaradov and Tanev have it, why are the Flames out of the playoff with them. Hanifan and Andersson are the the top Dmen for Flames, then Weager, and then Zaradov and Tanev. How is that a massive improvement for the Leafs ?
Timmins hasn't played this season, Liljegren and Klingbergt are injured, and the Leafs are doing "OK". No need ot give up a whole whack of futures (which the Leafs don't have).
Now I admit the Leafs may have to get a Dman at some time, especially if the cap allows Klingberg to "disappear" via LTIR;
Never hear about one Tampa Bay trade for Dmen...when there GAA is worse than the Leafs despite some so called high end Dmen. It just seems to me that there is there constant decades old nonsense that all Leaf Dmen are bad, and any other NHLer is better.

Hard to form a system when there’s poor team structure and the team pretty much relies on McDavid and Draisaitl. It’s also on Holland for making pretty much 0 changes in the off-season.

Under 20 years old, as soons as a player is sent down to any team in the CHL, it's for the entire year.
Unless there is a medical emergency, then he may be called up for a few games.

Do they make a big move
I think the Kraken making a big move is certainly a distinct possibility, though next offseason is a more likely timeframe for that sort of thing. I even think targeting another top-four defenseman makes a lot of sense in helping them upgrade the roster. However, I don't believe this is the move. Parayko's a good player, but he's also on the wrong side of 30 and signed until he's 37 at a steep price. I'm not convinced he's worth that contract, and giving up Borgen, Kartye, and a first round pick for a player who might very well hamstring the team down the line wouldn't be a wise deal for the Kraken to make in my mind.

Might be a fair trade. But I wouldn't do it as a Hawk. Three years of 2.75m cap might look OK now, but if Hawks want to splash in the UFA market in the next two season, keep as much cap as you can.

I think there’s zero chance that Bouchard’s agent takes that deal. They know as well as everyone else that he’s going to be racking up big offensive numbers on PP1, so if the cap hit is $4.5m it would have to be on a short bridge deal.

Hawks have their 1-2C punch for the next 15 years with those two, and if either one needs to transition to wing, Reichel/Nazar can also play C. The top end speed Moore has is exciting, I'll take that Dylan Larkin comp all day at 2C. Slam dunk for the Hawks.</div></div>
Yea, you can’t miss with either. I think Moore makes more sense though. They wanted to secure the Center positions and build down the middle. Never say never with Perreault though! The Rangers are a graveyard for prospects. The Hawks could buy him in a Dach-esque deal down the road.

I like Moore a lot, but would have taken Perreault personally. Perreault and Bedard could be the next McDavid and LD combo. That said, not upset at all with Moore as he's a heck of pick at #19.
