If the Pens trade Letang I want one really good prospect coming back. Remove the 2nd if needed. I like Turcottes game for what the Pens need now and what they might need in 3 years.

The Avs trade is really a matter of what the Avs really want. Do they believe Murray is the quiet goalie that can get Mack a cup? They also have to start deciding who they are going to pay bc their roster is full of young talent. Burakovsky is an RFA. Zadorov is going to want some cash. Graves will need paid. Makar. Mackinnon is approaching his massive deal even.

I think now is the time the Avs start thinking long-term and what guys they want to lock down. If AB isn't worth this to them, maybe they move him in a deal for Murray and Mccann, who could go back to the wing in Colorado and get paid less.

Don't get me wrong, I agree. Not sure he is better than Guentzel, who is extremely underrated but that is okay. The Pens aren't moving him. The Pens like strength up the middle. They put Kessel on a 3rd line with Bonino and Hagelin, remember? It isn't about rating Lindholm as a 3C as it is distributing scoring and overall ability of each line.

Like I said already. Lindholm is one of my favorite players out west. There is a reason why I picked him. Johnny G doesn't fit what the Pens need imo.

No disrespect to EL at all.

It could be the case. But Rutherford will not just give Murray away... Contrary to hopeful fans. If the right deal doesn't come in, he won't trade him. Take away Lindholm and give me Murray at the same cost. We will also keep McCann and the 2nd.

I know that might be fine for you guys, as Flames fans. But people giving Murray away for nothing don't understand the game JR is playing. He is going to get the best offer for one of these guys. I will admit that they probably want to keep Jarry at this point. But if a massive offer comes in, like Lindholm coming in, Murray or Jarry, whomever. That is the guy that will go.

I love Elias, great player, plays D, can play all 3 positions in my book. Perfect guy for the Flames to keep. So I get it.

Marino doesn't go anywhere unless a superstar comes back at this point..

He is already being named Letang's heir. He takes over some PP abd PK duty already. He made guys like JJ look like above average NHL dmen early in the season. The guy is IT for the Pens.

He isn't going to score 30 goals, but he does all of the little things right. He has a good shot from the point, not fantastic, and he has a knack for making the right play in the offensive zone. Knows when to pinch, when to dump, when to pass, etc.

Most of all, in the end of the Crosby, Malkin era, he is cost-controlled and likely will be for the next 5 years or so. Can't put a value that accurately displays that. Like the Preds having Josi in his prime at 4 million for half a decade.

So yeah, bottom line and pairing guys will never net Marino.

You blame Murray for the Isles series or the Habs series? He played 2 really good games this year and 1 mediocre game. Nothing like Flower against Philly in 2011...and the fans all say we should have kept Flower. Haha. He has had rough patches.. But don't forget those 2 shutouts to end the series against Nashville. Don't forget him carrying the team to the playoffs last year and losing games where he only gives up 2 goals.

This team was built to win those games. At least half of them. They are 1-7. If you blame Murray enough to say those are deserving of him being moved for next to nothing. The same is certainly true of Malkin and Letang. They didn't score. They committed bad penalties. They pinched at the wrong time.

Trade Malkin for 2 2nd rounders. His cap hit is over 9 million. He has done nothing the last two playoffs....

I don't believe any of this. But the narrative around Murray isn't fair or imo, realistic.

Lindholm was the guy I targeted bc of Calgary wanting to shake things up as well. If you trade for MM, you think he is your goalie the next 4 to 5 years and you immediately sign him.

Other people are saying MM value is at least 2 2nd rounders. Although he has dry spells, I'd argue Mccanns rights are worth at least a 2nd. He can play with speed, has some scoring touch, and is young still.

I have the value of being roughly 4 2nds for Lindholm... But that isn't the true value. I think someone pays for Murray. He has two cups. He hasn't underperformed when it counts, the playoffs, imo. He actually is at his best when the stakes are high. If Calgary wants him, i think they might sacrifice Lindholm for this package.

I think it is safe to assume that 1 big shake up will occur outside of goalie. Murray or Jarry will go.

I think Malkin or Letang are also on the way out, hopefully with Johnson tied to them, at least most of his salary going with him.

Wouldn't be surprised if they let Sheary, McCann, Bjugstad, and hopefully, Simon go in one form or another as well.

Zucker looked like the hungriest guy on the ice most of the series. Certainty is very limited now. These are the locks you'd expect for next year.

Yeah. I don't mind him struggling as I think it will drive his price down a bit this offseason. Mccann needs 1-2 goals per series if he is playing bottom six as long as he isn't making the big mistake. He can't not score in the playoffs, though... The Pens need 3 scoring lines and the buzzsaw line to chip in a good offensive game here and there.

Jugs coming back is big if he is right, I hope he gives them 40 good games here to help this team get a cup. Let's hope he fits in and is playing well almost immediately. Those former Panthers could really elevate the bottom six.

I understand and I still think Jared is a valuable player at his pricetag. The slump is just to show that I don't think he has the value other fans do. People forget he is an RFA still. If people are throwing 3.5 million at him, I'd rather trade his rights and see what Lafferty, Poulin, or Legare bring to camp. Or go and sign another UFA wing for 2 mill or less.

Sorry. Hadn't been on while I was absorbing that tough stretch... I think Rutherford and his choices are too early to tell. Ideally, the Pens need to at least get the 2 seed in the division again. That would be a small win. Then they need to have at least 6 playoff wins for these trades to be viewed as successful. Sheary and Rodrigues can go unless they fit in extremely well and want to stay on team friendly deals.

No issue with Marleau, although i hope he isn't playing 2nd line minutes in the playoffs.

The D is perfectly fine now as long as they stay healthy. Dumoulin and Marino in particular, as they just play smart and with confidence. Letang loses his cool too often, that is why they were able to get by without him in 2017. He is a risk/reward player.
