fair but maybe chi is just trying to send him a message. or maybe he just needs a change of scene.

Year by Year
Smart ACGM! I liked the idea of trading for ex high draft picks who look like busts but I definetly feel like the Phlyers are going to hold onto Patrick for one more year and then they'll explore trading him. I also feel it's unlikely that Johnson falls to 9 in the draft considering he's exactly what Columbus needs and even if they don't take him, I'm sure Detroit would.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NjDevsfan12</b></div><div>I tend to stay away from trades now on armchair bc nobody ever wins those. I'm not too sure, but Foote did some kind of letter to Kelowna fans when the season ended about how it's time for him to move on, so I'm just playing the fact that he shows well in camp. You could probably get Gally for less, but this amount secures him coming to NJ.</div></div>
If I remember correctly Foote has played 25+ games in the WHL for 4 seasons; so he should be able to play in the AHL this year.

I'd rather keep Dermott. Think he'll become a solid top 4 guy. Skates, battles, hits, tries hard, good defensively and offensively. Only issue is decision making with pinches and stuff, but that comes with more experience

How it may go
The devils trade seems pretty undervalued. I think it probably starts closer to Butcher (1.8mm retained,) Boqvist, and one of the AZ or VAN picks. The exception being if the devils don't either of those until 2021, in which case you make it conditional upon next years lottery for all 3 of the devils 2021 picks.
Tampa will need an NHL defensemen in return. Otherwise they have to play Foote + one or more additonal rookie/AHL defenders, or hope there is another legitimate defender on the market this summer for under $2mm (there probably isnt.)

Pretty good draft. Tyson Foerster is missing. He was MVP of the Top Prospects Game this year. Good shooter. Good size and speed.
I’m pretty sure Edmonton will take a shooter or a C with their pick. I also thought that last year. I thought they would take Trevor Zegras and they took Phil Broberg instead. They have several D prospects already.

it's a slight win for Dallas, not by much.
Don't mind the edmonton fans, they think he's worth gold. He's not. Every GM in the league scoffed at what Edmonton wanted for him.

I think it answers the needs of all four parties. I would love to see it happen.
But after the Nichushkin strike-out, Dallas may not be willing to take on a second reclamation project.

Laine
Actually I like the trade. Jets get a two good players at three years each...for Laine...controllable for four years. Ducks might win big if they can get productive Laine to sign long term. But for team with cap issues, and a window of opportunity....this trade just might be good thing for the Jets.. Good thought.

Guys this is just a random team, I would never trade hall for those two. It was more to spark a conv on IF Hall leaves.

Youre not a Contender
I like your trades. I hope that Blake doesn't trade Kovalchuk but that the new coach gives him a chance to show what he is still capable of; if the Kings dump Kovalchuk only a year into his contract after persuading him to sign here and then letting an interim coach abuse him, the Kings may never get to sign a UFA as long as Blake is GM. I also hope that you're right that Gabe Vilardi can play again. Your signings are okay by me except that I think you're awfully high on Cal Petersen. All in all, a great job by a guy across the nation.

Maybe not to NJ. I was looking for a team with a ton of space and a team Backes would be willing to waive for. Also, I see people clamoring to sign Boyle. Backes/Boyle same thing. Backes actual money owed isn't significant.

Offseason SIM ANA
I get that you want to accelerate the rebuild, but you can't just dump everybody. Unless you get a McDavid/Matthews type, rookies need experienced players to help ease them into the league, and not all of them may be done developing in the minors. The Ducks are already thin on defense so you can't get rid of one of their best shutdown guys in Manson, especially when there is no suitable replacement (Murphy simply does not compare). Dotchin is a good depth signing, since he has shown flashes of NHL-quality play, but I'm not sure he's 100% reliable yet, especially to play a top 4 role in place of Manson. As far as the trade values go, you need to get more in return. Yeah some of the contracts may be daunting, but they are all proven NHL players with term, so they deserve more.

Both pending UFA's I was seeking a maximized return considering they could walk for nothing, whether or not you're a contender or rebuilder doesn't matter they could still walk.
