Just a thought but you never know… that why it’s so hard to clear salary…
But I like the idea of moving geno to wing as he rlly rarely cares about defense these days BUT I think he would refuse to do that… bc he’s too cocky</div></div>
I don't look at Dumo as a cap dump for most teams... We need salary so I'm trading him.
Zucker, fair enough, but I do think he is worth something to a decent bit of teams out there with a bit of wiggle room.

Best possible offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marcsnack</b></div><div>On one hand, I feel like VAN wants Kapanen because Rutherford/Allvin are there, but on the other, I feel like its a sideways move for them in terms of ready now players, and I dont think they want to rebuild. I think the Pens may look for another RFA and make a 1 for 1 deal. Someone like Gurianov or Olofsson come to mind.
The Detroit trade is interesting. I think Matheson has really bounced back and Detroit will need a top 4 guy. I feel like they would want to shed a little cap, so maybe the Pens take Erne back and only get a 4th or 5th. Even though he has been good, the length of that contract is still a burden to some.
Finally, that Devils trade I like a lot. Wood has missed all season, but his playstyle is something we lack. Zucker could be a guy who helps them for one year and who can be dealt at the deadline for a decent return. I feel like a 2nd is a bit much, I would maybe opt for a 3rd?</div></div>
Couldnt agree more!

Best possible offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PavelM</b></div><div>Vancouver says no, I think. I doubt they'll settle on an underperforming forward, late round first prospect, and a late second when it comes to Conor Garland. They traded away a top 10 pick and a second round pick for him. Plus, they have to deal with OEL's contract. They'll want-- and get-- more elsewhere.</div></div>
My only thought is I know for sure Rutherford LOVES Kapanen and is known to go get "his guys."
I will agree the offer may not be enough, but I do think it's close. If the Pens add another 2nd or 3rd, does that sound more appealing?
Not to mention the OEL contract makes it even harder. They need to shed cap, 5M a year is quite a lot.

Offseason deal 5.3x1 is not too hard to move. I'd bet he would waive if needed. He loved Pittsburgh and waived.

Reset the team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>I have also heard that, but in my opinion that’s a really dumb idea for a team as good as the pens are. Take it from a Chicago fan that has been sold on “one last shot at a cup” too many times over the years without anything (even playoffs) to show for it… the pens should be trying to reinforce themselves for at least one more run. It’s also not the same as many other deadline deals the pens have made because Kubalik has future team control and you can get him for a manageable price. Just my two cents though.</div></div>
Fair, but look at a guy like Carter. We got him for like 2 3rd round picks. Wouldn't be shocked if we move a low-ish graded prospect, a mid-tier nhl guy and a mid round pick for something that works nicely and gives us a chance at a cup. We don't have many holes right now either. Backup goalie and maybe a depth defenseman is all we'd need.

Alright, I can get that I suppose. I guess the Pens just aren't a great fit since Hextall has said the Pens don't want to move any 1st or 2nd round picks

But does that still warrant a 1st AND a 2nd?

If that's the case, the Pens definitely pass. Zucker has 1 less point than Kubalik so that really doesn't make much sense to add a 1st and a 2nd.

Probably should have clarified I would want someone like Mittelstadt who was a high draft pick and isn't quite living up to it... It's kind of the Penguins thing to acquire guys like that. I agree my offer here is pretty weak.

I wouldn't pay that price for Kubalik, but I like the idea of him to the Pens. It would have to involve Zucker going back the other way though for cap reasons.
