<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>okay now i see you have absolutely no hockey knowledge whatsoever. really no point in debating with someone like you but here i am lol.</div></div>
Perhaps because I'm not a Sabres fan who couldn't care less about what my fake Sabres team is copmared to the current one, who hasn't been in the playoffs for almost a decade which is three times as long as before this current playoff drought.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div> You are making Cody eakin out to be this great playoff performer...Dallas never got anywhere when he was on the team and Vegas just got eliminated in the first round this year...sure vegas had a nice run last year but hardly due in part from him- Eakin had 4 points in 20 playoff games last year?
Cody eakin just set a career high in points this year with 41.....
Eakin’s “invaluable playoff experience” does us no good if team is so terrible that it doesn’t even make the playoffs!!
again, Vegas just got eliminated in the 1st round with Cody eakin as their 3rd line Center....So now you want him as our 2nd line Center and somehow thats going to lead to postseason success? omg</div></div>
Actually I'm not... I never said he was a playoff performer, just that he's got it. Experience is experience, for better or worse. It is also in Eakin's case supposed to be a reason for him to push harder to get better. So would him being a vet on a young team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>Reinhart had 42 his rookie year lol
then 47, 50 and this year 65 points</div></div>
The first three years have been considered underperforming by national standards among his peers, so I've been told
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>this is the stupidest argument ive ever seen on capfriendly. i cant believe u r seriously defending this trade...if your going to get someone with playoff experience you can just sign a guy like Jonas Donskoi who has just as much playoff experience without having give up anything. Nonetheless trade away a young, top 3 forward on the team for a pending UFA 3rd line center.</div></div>
I'm not defending the trade (though it may appear so) given that this is a _fictional_ scenario. This may be an armchair gm thing, but don't treat it anymore than that. This is purely experimental. None of us in this forum are at any time going to actually get paid to do it. Also, how many times have we criticized moves initially that seem to suck and then everyone backtracks when it works. Okay the same happens in the reverse to. But at least I will own up to it when it happens. In this case it never will so I wouldn't get bent out of shape for a (probably unrealistic) hypothetical.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>and McDavid a one dimensional goalscorer/shooter? like dude wtf are you delusional? hes 2nd in the entire NHL in assists over the past 3 seasons.... assists also include rebounds to the eventual goalscorrer.</div></div>
I don't include those as assists as they weren't necessarily intentional. But also being multi dimentional is more than assists, and if assists are considered points then is it really another aspect of the game? I'm not saying he can't do other things or improve on them - everyone can even the greatest and the greats will admit to that. Matter of fact, his game has been evolving to the point where I think that he could break some of Gretzky's Oiler records.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>Nylander is not a 4th line player
Wedgewood is not an NHL goaltender at all
Olofsson will be in the top 9 next year
You lost Ullmark for nothing?
You lost E-Rod for nothing?
You lost McCabe for nothing?
Ristolainen is not a good top pair D man
Dahlin on the 3rd pair is absolutely ridiculous
Sobotka shouldn’t even be in the NHL</div></div>

Call me old fashoined, but third line is a physical line.
I agree, but I'm working with the cap until both him and Hutton are can get moved.
Olofsson is maybe starting the first month in Rochester, performing well enough when called up to stay up permanently and get a handsome contract.
Some reports suggest Ullmark is on the way out to let Luukkonen be the guy and that he's perhaps better than Ullmark. I'm playing with that narrative for now.
Rodriguez hasn't performed consistently enough, but he is still rostered (no clue where).
McCabe is Still on the team but isn't showing up... he was supposed to be on the top line where Risto is and Risto on second pairing. That is why Dahlin is on third pair also; didn't think him with Bogosoin would last long term since Nelson isn't yet a second line defender.

EDIT: They are listed as their rights as RFAs are still on roster but for whatever reason not on here. I gave McCabe a new contract. I didn't originally grab a new goalie since there were no good and under thirty goalies. So I just now decided to be more aggressive in the goalie search and pick up Bobrovski (who has done far better than the next name in Varlamov).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>okay so trade some draft picks or Jake McCabe or Tage Thompson, Alex Nylander etc not our 24 year old 2nd overall pick one of our top 3 forwards...you are way undervaluing Sam Reinhart and to trade him for a 28 year old pending UFA 3rd line center is one of the most ludicrous trades ive ever seen on this site

If they traded Cody Eakin for Samson Reinhart Jason botterill would be ran out of town immediately...</div></div> But this is not suggesting that Botterill should or will do. Reinhart had the purported potential that we are only just seeing from this past season. I reiterate that Eakin's playoff experience is quite valuable to this organization given the circumstances worth a shorter term deal or extension. Even if Reinhart is the price of it.

I'd dump Eichel, but I'm not that stupid enough to walk away on his natural skill set and vision. I'd sooner dump McDavid given that he's merely a straight up shooter/goalscorer whereas Eichel is more of an all around player. But my problem with Eichel is that often he has too much patience as a playmaker. One might rather take those stupid ineffective shots from the point the Sabres were taking in myriads four five seasons ago though one Wayne Gretzky might suggest they have nothing to lose taking shots like that. I don't mind that Eichel is scanning the offensive zone like a QB does in football but when you're holding the puck for a minute or more waiting for a play to develop you'll need to do something with it.
