Question for Flames Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>I get that. I have to think CGY is going to a little aggressive this off-season in filling in their holes, especially if they go deep in the playoffs. Matheson may not make complete sense for you guys, but I do think spending more on a 3rd pairing guy who can jump into a 2nd pair role is a vital hedge they should take.</div></div>
We need to sign Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane and Kylington this off-season. We have zero cap space for a 3rd pairing 5 million dollar player. Like none at all. Not sure why these other Flames fans are even considering this. Only way this could happen if its for Monahan or Lucic straight up, and even then Tre won't take that brutal contract term.

Habs fans are complete clowns. Dont realize their midgets are only a year or two younger than Tkachuk and havent come close to what he's done and the impact he makes. Yet wont trade KK for him. LOL Campabee doesnt have a clue.

Its not like they need him now, theyre tanking for Wright, so Power Samuelsson and Johnson all get another year to mature, Samuelsson is already NHL ready and Power is coming to the NHL as soon as he signs, so Valimaki is the odd man out after 1 year</div></div>
Then why TF are they asking for Nic Hague? And I was incorrect earlier, apparently the Vegas package is what Buffalo is asking from Vegas, not the offer given by Vegas.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>No. Puts more onus on Buffalo to flip Monohan, CGY can and should do that, Valimaki is redundant, Sabres are set with LD (Dahlin-Power-Samuelsson-Johnson-Valimaki) if Valimaki was so good he wouldnt be a thrown-in on trades in the majority of CGY ACGMs. Zary and the '22 first would be 2 pieces but its still off. Also the 4 first rounders thing was debunked weeks ago. Krebs > Zary - Hague >> Valimaki</div></div>
Not sure what you have against Valimaki. We expect him to be a top 4 guy this year, but of course he's available for Eichel. Plays on the right side too btw where he is IMO more effective.
Monahan >> Smith
CGY 1st will likely be much earlier than Vegas'
Pretty similar offer in terms of value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>No</div></div>
Yes. That would likely be the best offer on the table right now.
Flip Monahan for a 1st+ (Comparable to Reinhart deal)
Valimaki = Top pairing potential, 1st round value
Zary = Top 6 C potential, recent 1st rounder
2022 1st
Thats more than four 1st rounders. If thats an awful offer then you're gonna cry when you see the actual return. For comparison, Vegas' offer right now is Smith, Hague, Krebs and 2022 1st.

You make zero sense. I was talking about if the Canucks matched which IS the exact same story. You literally said Canucks will match anything. Go back and read it. If Flames can get Petey through this 8+ mil offer sheet, awesome. If not then Canucks pay more than is rumored (7mil x 3). WIN/WIN and we dont give two craps if Vancouver hate us.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juiceman</b></div><div>Sorry that’s not the way to do things no point in pissing of other GMs. Not only will the Canucks hate you, the rest of the league will see you guys as rats. Canucks can sign Petey and Hughes easily even if that means saving little money to resign other players</div></div>
This is such a myth. Does the rest of the league see Bergevin as a rat after the Aho offer sheet? And frankly I don't think the Flames organization cares if the Canucks hate them, because they probably already do seeing as we're divisional rivals and signed their goalie and top pairing D-man last summer. There is literally no reason not to send Petey an offer sheet. Stopping Vancouver from being able to sign other top 6 players or D-men is definitely in the Flames interest if theyre gonna be battling eachother for a playoff spot.

Dubé will not perform at that level for another 2-3 years at least.
<strong>Therefore Detroit cannot trade him unless they get a better player back that replaces him immediately or the deal is such an overpayment that it becomes impossible to say no.</strong>
Dubé does not replace Bertuzzi therefore the only other option for you is to overpay by so much that the deal cannot be refused.
<strong>This is not about "value". This about Detroit needing what Bertuzzi brings.</strong></div></div>
Detroit needs Shane Wright, and Dube is better than you think.

Big Shake up to compete with the big guns
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sporkknife</b></div><div>Depends on term. From the rumblings, $7.25 million for 3 years on a bridge most likely. The issue with going long term with Petey is there aren't good comparables. To go to 7/8 years the price probably goes to around $10 mil. VAN has the cap space either way. Obviously the higher you offer the less space we have, but why do that just to tick a GM off when there's no chance of getting the player (the Bergevin special I guess). If you really wanted to, someone like Cal Foote or Ross Colton from Tampa would actually be feasible to acquire.</div></div>
Fair enough, I think we'll see a few teams try to take advantage of Tampa this off-season. And yeah I'd say there is definitely incentive for the Flames to offer sheet EP. Vancouver is their hated divisional rival after all, so the less cap space the better. (And you never know with Jim Dim, he might not match. Win/Win situation IMO)

I based the offer sheet on existing Armchair Canuck teams on this site. In most Pettersson is getting 7m x 3 or 7 x 5.

What do you reckon he's gonna get from Vancouver? And my thought train was to play Lindholm the tough minutes and Petterson against team's second lines to free him up a bit.
