agreed. Soderblom too tbh. Erne has also been pretty good as a checking forward. I gotta imagine Suter would be one on the trading block.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Let's say Detroit does this and trades for Shattenkirk and O'Reilly. Detroit still gets knocked out in the first round and neither stays in Detroit Now they are 3 picks and a pretty solid 3rd pair Dman who fits perfectly behind Seider and Hronek.</div></div>
ah I see you've got your crystal ball out and already figured out who's winning the cup this year. Mind telling me so I can put some money down. Honestly though, any team that is good enough to make the playoffs has a chance at making a run. Just look at teams in the past decade like LA and Montreal who got in by the hair of their asses and went all the way to the finals. I'm not saying Detroit is going to win it all, but might as well be a bit optimistic that they might make some kind of run.
As for the tradeoffs, there probably isn't a bad likelihood that ROR resigns since he is buds with Perron and probably wants to be on a winning team. As for Lindstrom, he's good, but he can be replaced.

pretty pessimestic view. If the team is somehow still 3rd in the atlantic by the TDL, why would they sell. A lot of us thought they would be pretty conservative in the offseason and develop their prospects instead, but SY went out and got 7 UFAs and now here we are. I wouldn't be surprised if he thought it was worth throwing some prospects and picks at a chance to build more of a winning atmosphere and get some playoff experience.

Pysyk for the wings? Dude isn't even playing. How about Kubalik - ppg player on 2.5 mil AAV for 2 years. Not to mention that Larking, Bert and Hronek all have pretty good contracts as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Maybe but what's a 3rd going to do for Detroit now? They already have a deep prospect pools and will probably accumulate more picks moving ufas.
This is a situation where they are better off letting him bust. If a team wants to overpay like this mock trade, then so be it.</div></div>
good take, but also I can't understand all the Zadina hate. He is an offensive player that plays on one of the worst offensive teams in the league and he frequently gets played in bottom 6 with other guys that don't produce much offense. He may not put up the points, but he's not a liability on the ice and he sometimes has flashes of brilliance. Honestly looks like his biggest issue is just finding space in the o-zone when he doesn't have the puck. My biggest fear is that he just gets dumped for some low picks, goes to a team like toronto where he gets put on a line with Tavares and Nylander and puts up 30+ goals.

At the start of the season most wings fans would have jumped on that offer, but now Erne's got 7 pts in 12 games and leads the team in hits. Pretty solid 2-way player. Plus we're littered with injuries. No way this happens.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoreHitzSeider</b></div><div>Why is everyone pretending Detroit isn't missing Bertuzzi and Vrana? That's a big hit for any team. I didn't expect Detroit to be world beaters but you take away two top 6 forwards from any team and they're going to feel the impact. I'm not even mentioning Fabbri who we knew wasn't going to return until January.</div></div>
mainly cause they were missing Vrana last year and Bert was missing random games due to his vax status. Plus the fact that they added Perron, Copp and Kubalik, improved their defense and goaltending and had two of the hottest rookies entering their sophomore seasons. Not to mention the new coach with a championship pedigree. And yet, they have looked completely mediocre if not all out bad in most of the games they have played.
Last year they were pretty competitive until the all-star break and their top line of Bert-Lark-Raymond was a legit scoring threat against any team. I haven't seen any line this year be consistently dangerous through the first 10 games.

Early Season Playoff Predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>itsstammertime91</b></div><div>I think New Jersey will slow down over the course of the season and their goaltending is highly suspect. Its so hard to guess anything with how competitive the league is. Buffalo looks better than they have in a long time but its not sustainable, they will cool off. New jersey i think will too but they will be close this year. There are just better teams in the east with more experience who can pace their high level of play for a whole season. I really like Nashville they have a great team this year, they just have to get it figured out. I think Winnipeg is looking great this year, but for me they just seem like their franchise is on eggshells so any little thing could derail their play. I hope im wrong cause Id love to see them in. LA definitely could for sure.</div></div>
They look legit right now. As long as they avoid injuries, I think they pick up a rental keeper at the TDL and make the playoffs.

I would mostly be ok with this, but the problem is that Detroit has gotten off to a pretty bad start and its raised a lot of questions about where they are in their rebuild. Coming in to the season, I think a lot of ppl were thinking the team would be a lot more competitive this year and a playoff contender next year, but now its not so clear. Makes more sense for Horvat to go to a contender now, if he is to get traded.

honestly, I've always liked Hronek. I would even argue that last year it was more his partners dragging him down rather than him playing bad, but the pairing this year with Maatta has been great.
For OP, Maatta may be off the table, but we can send you Oesterle.

MIN Game
The last 2 games have got me wondering if this team is worse than they were last year. I know it's still early, and they have their injuries, but they have looked terrible in some of their games. The defense doesnt look too bad with the additions of Maata, Hagg and Chairot, but their offense looks like it has regressed. There is no cohesion. Raymond has been sloppy, Copp has been invisible, most of their other forwards are equal or worse that what they were last year. There were lines that looked like they were working pretty well in preseason that have been split up and I am seeing the same Blashill trend of keeping lines together for too long in games when it is clear that they are not working. I didn't expect us this year to be a top 10 team in the league, but at the same time, I really didn't expect us to be in the race for Bedard. Let's hope things improve when Bertuzzi gets back.

I would also consider that North American culture as well. Routing against your own team is strangely a capfriendly thing.

Opening Season Line-up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CringleMcDingleberry</b></div><div>Purely looking at preseason skill levels and game contribution, Berggren and Soderblom should make it into the middle 6, but because of the below reasons I see them as starting in GR along with a few others.
- Waivers - Although not as good, Erne, Suter, Sundqvist, Veleno and Smith should remain in the mix to help maintain that competitive environment. Not surprised if SY has create this log jam to push for that competitive "playoff" mindset.
- Chemistry - Soderblom/Berggren and Edvinsson/Johansson can build chemistry in GR. Learn how to find each other through muscle memory and all that good stuff.
- TOI - As mentioned above, I would rather see Soderblom/Berggren and Edvinsson/Johansson get more TOI at this point.
- Honing Skills - Although they could get this in the RW, having an "on-ramp" allows some space to work on the areas of improvement (Soderblom on FO and speed, Berggren on Shots, Edvinsson on confidence/consistency).
- Higher pick in -23 draft - Worse case scenario, by putting "worse" players in games during this season will put us in a better position for next years draft. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky (for once).
- NHL exposure still very much going to happen (injuries etc). <9 games in NHL for these young ones WILL happen.
- 23/24 Changes - There are a fair amount of UFA/RFAs happening at which point SY & Co will have a much clearer picture. At that point Kasper may also be in the mix to enter along with these guys.
Also THE_OTHER_JUST_ME, it's "Soderbl<strong>o</strong>m" which translates to "South bloom" in Swedish. Berggren translates to "Mountain branch"</div></div>
I agree with most of what you said, but I think either Edvinsson or Johansson makes the team. They have a logjam at LD, so if they both get sent back to GR that means they will have them 2 plus Sebrango, McIsaac and Viro. All of them would be top 4 material in GR. Honestly no matter how I chalk it up, they will have to move somebody or loan them to Europe to play.

Just a gut feeling that Simon has made the team. Lalonde said he won't play tonight and that they've already made their decision. He had a pretty strong outing last night in Detroit.</div></div>
Yeah I think I heard a quote from Lalonde recently about it sometimes being better to learn on the fly than to stew in the minors. Wouldn't be surprised if Oesterle comes in as relief for either Edvinsson or Lindstrom depending on how they play.
