<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabresparaavida</b></div><div>Well Rosen was 13th OA last year, and Mitts is slotted to be 2C/3C next year, battling with Cozens. And the comment was more geared to how KA is building the team. KA has no interest in short term success, he wants to build a perennial contender, and his words and actions have all shown how he wants to build up by drafting and developing. He’s not going to sacrifice players that could be key 3,4 years down the road to make the team better now. I think the defense is set outside of perhaps a 5-7D add, and the forwards are probably set outside of taking on a cap dump for assets.</div></div>
Marino is locked for 5 years and is only 25. I don’t think It’s a short sighted move at all

as far as that habs trade goes your value is pretty close to fair, nobody would flip **** if that was all it was. unfortunately, Montreal is a team without a true far and away #1 defenceman that would still be so on most of the teams in the league, think Hedman, makar, fox, Slavin, Hamilton, Ekblad, ETC. Romanov is the closest thing we have to that, he's young and plays both LD & RD, and showed massive improvement under MSL even becoming our clear-cut best blueliner. under this context, he is probably if not definitely a top-three piece for this team in terms of value, right next to 14 and 22. trading for him would almost definitely have to be an overpay just because he is really all that we have right now.

This may be way off base, but was the basic concept behind this trade.</div></div>
media are not happy with the rebuild because here the media talk about the habs 24/7 and only remember the habs in the 70 who was winning every like every year.
The majority of the habs wanted a rebuild since 2018

Makes sense and didn't know Sabres were targeting him. I feel like he is in every sabres acgm and just was wondering why

I would think that 9oa is close to filling the gap between Mitts and Dubois.
They also proposed a counter offer trade of Cozens, Johnson and the Florida pick. Not sure if that moves the needle for you in either direction.</div></div>
I think that second proposed deal is interesting. Realistically jets would need to be rebuilding for a deal like this to happen. Which seems unlikely considering they expect to be a cap team for the next few years.

There is speculation about him not wanting to commit long term, but the Jets are highly, highly likely to sign him to an extension.
To answer your question though, if you want him you're going to have to give up guys like Krebs or Cozens instead of Johnson. Mittlestadt has concerning injury history, and isn't at Dubois level.

Idk man ... if they had any goaltending they probably have 6-7 more wins this year. And that puts them right in the thick of the hunt.
Yeah I would say they dont have the talent to beat out florida Tampa Bay and Toronto. But boston is moving the wrong direction.
I'm not saying they are making the playoffs next year but if they get goaltending and clean up some of the plugs they have this year and replace them with the young talent + a Ufa or 2 I think they are right there.

Absolutely, they seem to be seriously using their leverage of letting Eichel rot on LTIR to their advantage and good for them.
Flames fans need to look at how well the Hanifn, Lindholm deal worked out, Fox was not signing here Treliving knew that well ahead of time so he got what he could for him. I can see the same happening here, Carolina is literally left with Noel Gunler from all the Adam fox stuff and Calgary has Hanifin and Lindholm, two years from now Buffalo will likely be without Tkachuk, without Eichel sitting on a mountain of draft and prospect capital.

Moving Tkachuk alone is insane. If he moves Coronato he’s throwing away a gem prospect (imo). That was an amazing selection for them.
I wouldn’t even offer Tkachuk but I mean anyone named Coronato, Zary packaged with Tkachuk is actually just giving Buffalo an early Christmas present. I mean their fans deserve if but damn that would hurt to be a Flames fan.
Even seeing Pelletier involved would be scary.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>I see where your coming from but it would need to be a direct 3-way deal for it to work.</div></div>
It's basically the same thing. It's just not a 3-way because not all 3 teams are necessarily involved with each other.
(Buffalo gets a handshake from Vegas and permission to talk to other teams to finalize the deal.)
It's difficult for any team to give up multiple firsts and prospects for one player, more so with all the factors at play. You have to be flexible and creative to find a good deal here.

building from scratch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>What makes eichel anywhere near top ten player? Zero hardware not even close to seeing post season in how long? There was enough talent over the past few seasons that a top ten player would have made them atleast respectful which he couldn’t even do that. It’s funny to consider him soo highly but from an outsider it kinda looks like Buffalo made a smarts choice and did some addition by subtraction and are better off for it.</div></div>
I think top 10 is a stretch, but top 20 is a given. As for "Not getting it done"...Artemi Panarin anyone?
And the whole "Addition by subtraction" thing is funny too. They played the majority of the season last year without him and were bad. This year? They've played the Habs, Yotes and Canucks-None of whom are playoff teams. Also, let's see a bit bigger sample size than 3 games from Craig Anderson and Dustin Tokarski.

Beniers ceiling is not higher than Eichel. Eichel is a top 7 or 8 player in the league when healthy. There is a less that 1% chance Beniers ends up being anything close to Eichel level.
