Might not work then, Colorado's whole reason for dominance is that it's skaters are amazing (Cogliano may be old, but he's still fast).

Ok ok, how's his skating? That's ultimately the deciding factor tbh.

Hard to say no, but we already have Helm as our 4C, and he's been so clutch this last run. If you had any 3rd liners on the cheap (or if Bonino is good enough to play on the 3rd line, I admittedly don't watch him), then I'm all ears!

Martinez is a cap dump to Chicago. You'll need to pay us, and it'll be a decent amount considering he has a cap hit of +$5M

All I'm saying is keep your expectations low, and expect that Davidson would want his prospects to be drafted, rather than traded for.

I agree that they both need a change but I think the value is too far off. The only real benefit that Edmonton would get is a better skater in Kapanen. Plus Pool Party is younger and an RFA as previously mentioned, I just think the potential Jesse has outweighs the struggling hes going through

Edmonton declines so so fast, Pool Party is great defensively and is an RFA. If they trade him it will likely be for a package for a better player

Hawks would prefer a straight pick for Dickinson, Voit doesn’t move the needle for me, nothing extreme obviously, maybe something like a 3rd + 4th?

I mean if he was guaranteed to re-sign they might do it, but he's going to want money since he's got a cup. Plus, they gotta take on around $3M in cap for another year.

Not enough for dumping Foegele AND getting Senko. Vlad himself is probably the 1st + a prospect.

Colorado ain't realistic. Compher isn't going anywhere. You <em>might</em> get a 1st for Monahan but Compher is Colorado's swiss army knife and he performed last playoffs.

Both teams, along with EJ decline. Bringing Bortuzzo to Colorado is a bad idea, I don't think he would be the best person to come over... only person worse would probably be Schenn (Landeskog).
Johnson doesn't waive since Colorado are still contenders and he'll almost certainly retire as an Av. St Louis isn't getting enough for O'Reilly. Bowers hasn't proven much yet and while the 2023 1st is valuable, it's not enough for O'Reilly.
O'Reilly is someone I do like, but I'd guess St. Louis will probably try to re-sign him, like Hertl with San Jose last year. Probably would take an overpay which is something we shouldn't do. :/

Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>It's just sound workings, man - you don't boost your closest rivals in a trade unless it's a slam dunk fleece (see Bernie Federko to Detroit). You don't want to help them win. You don't want that guy you traded to go contribute to your rival winning a Cup and you certainly don't want that player to come back and haunt you mercilessly for years while wearing a rival jersey (which dear lord, has happened more times than Blues fans will care to talk about, although a few instances like Doug Gilmour weren't after direct trades). The last thing the Blues want is to, say, trade Tarasenko to Colorado and then watch him help them win a Cup, if not also re-sign there and torment us in our nightmares. This is not particular to the Blues, by the way. Lots of teams won't make anything more than minor trades with hated rivals. The Blackhawks have nothing to gain this season by keeping Kane around, but you can bet your last dollar they ain't handing him over to the Blues for fair value. It's just a bad idea unless you know you have a total fleece. The fans will revolt, the players will be like "WTF, man?!?" and it is just better to avoid the risk of compounding misery (another thing the Blues and their fans have had quite enough of, thank you).</div></div>
Ok, I think I finally got my message across and I appreciate you writing a thought-out response. Lol.
Anyhow, I guess for me it’s just that I look at trading and hockey ops as a pure business. The way I see it, I’d rather take the risk of letting my opponent win the cup if it means that I get some sweet rewards back (I like to think of the David Savard trade- I doubt Columbus fans are very fond of Tampa). I mean, I think this is just a mindset thing. Granted, what you’re saying mostly does happen in the NHL, but I suppose it’s that I just want that to change since I’m all about practicality over spite. Would seeing Landeskog win a cup in Minnesota (random example I made up) sting? Yeah, but I just try to look at the overt results I get from it.
Anyhow I won’t take up anymore of your time, have a good day, amigo ✌️

Defensive reinforcements to EDM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>McLeod easily gets shifted to wing. J Toews is an elite faceoff man, and adding him will allow Draisaitl to rest more, they have him taking every important faceoff because their Cs just aren't that good in the circle.
That's just one benefit of adding Toews for the Oilers but there's more.</div></div>
I’d wait for McLeod to show worse face off results until the TDL hits, if he’s still bad then I could actually see this now that I think about it, but I think Edmonton should run him for rn and hope for the best, he’s already elite defensively
