If Bettman could rig it...it would go to Utah. His job is to expand viewership. Maybe CHI to get that large market going again, but Buffalo isn't on his list of teams.

Celebrini got dropped from Team Canada...guess CHI wants to save the Bedard-Celebrini show for their season opener.

Few ideas for 2024
Edmonton declines. Holloway is taking a massive step forward right now, they'ld rather keep him.
I could see them offering something for Barron, but it won't be a lot.

oh oh a new Leafs era
Marner is so much better and more valuable than Huberdeau that it’s not even funny. I can agree that TOR may get about 75 cents on the dollar in a Marner trade, but Huberdeau is closer to a nickel on the dollar.

I mean even if you have a negative view of Marner he's still better than Huberdeau lol.

Naaah. You guys are doing so well with Samsonov, Marner, Liljegren, Kampf and Robertson that we couldn't in good conscience break up the set.

Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>Man I'm not even 100% sure Utah does Cooley for Marner 1 for 1. One guy is on his elc the next 2 years, has shown commitment to the organization and plays centre. One is a winger, needs a big time extension and hasn't expressed interest in being in a smaller market.
Oilers reject, no need for either player desperately. Would they be nice to have, yes they would be but those assets can be better allocated elsewhere</div></div>
I think the value is about right on the Oilers trade for the purpose of the AGM I think another team offers similar value but completely get the Oilers passing. I think it would largely come down to what depth pieces they get in free agency and where they need to fill holes. If the bottom six looks weak on July 7th they might make a deal like this.
For Utah, the thing that I feel most fans overlook with Marner is that no matter his attitude, work ethic, etc. He is box office in a way that very few players around the league are. Even with the number of stars on Toronto if you go to a game amongst kids and women #16 is by far the most popular jersey. Those are the type of fans that Utah wants to attract. The guys like you and me who love the game will watch regardless, as great as Cooley is he isn't going to have 10+ highlight real plays a year like Marner and he isn't going to have that energy about him that annoys the hell out of real fans but appeals to kids and casual fans. Even anecdotally the game he returned vs Tampa late in the season, ticket prices in Toronto rose 30% after they announced his return. That's a massive shift for a single player, they didn't move at all for Morgan Rielly who is a fan favourite.
It really depends on the type of owner that Ryan Smith is but if the news on the Utah Jazz is anything to go by, he's a pretty impatient guy who wants big moves. I don't think he's going to be happy with the team missing the playoffs of meddling for the next few years as they wait for Cooley and others to mature while he just spent $1.2B on the team + an estimated $1B+ to sort the arena for hockey and build a new basketball arena, etc.
The dude is investing a lot of money and I'd be shocked to see him happy with a slow rebuild and a team ready to compete in 2027 (the original Coyotes plan) when in the next 3 years he could lose almost all of the team's original goodwill if they are losing (similar to what happened in Atlanta).

Yeah, Seattle's not that desperate to get rid of Grubauer. Their cap sheet is clean enough that they can afford to roll with him as Daccord's backup for another year, and even if they were looking to shed his cap hit, a buyout would be the preferable option.

Reclamation Types
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NucksnOilers</b></div><div>Holloway has dealt with a ton of unlucky injuries and has been so great for us in the playoffs so far, Broberg also has been doing great in the AHL. As stated by Bluetomorrow83 we are up against the cap pretty hard next year meaning we are going to be relying on Broberg and Holloway to fill key depth (or for Holloway potentially top 6 if he keeps this up) spots for cheap.
Only way I can see either being moved is in a larger package for TK or Sanheim which Philly won't want to do</div></div>
Id personally be interested in moving both players and Flyers should be but Danny doesn’t want to fully tear it down.

Unlikely Oilers move either prospect they need sub 1M roster players next year with the 3.5M in bonus carryover. Holloway has also been quite good since his recall and Broberg was good in the AHL just had Ekholm, Nurse and Kulak as LD in front of him.
