Durzi gets erased in the playoffs. I wouldn’t trade Vinny for him 1 for 1.
Sharks fans will say no cause they don’t know how to value and are bad at rebuilding. That’s why they took cap dumps for Karlsson instead of multiple 1sts that Oilers offered.

That is false... a better second pick yes but the value isn't that far off.
Everyone on this site seems to forget that Campbells buy out very reasonable.

Huge overpay for Gibson, he is a good goalie but not worth selling the farm for him. Let the Ducks continue to fade into irreverence and waste all the good years of a decent goalie.

Yes because teams quite often trade the reigning heart and art ross winner that's signed for the next 5 years... Edmonton doesn't touch this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NunyaBitness</b></div><div>I was referring specifically to your assessment that the offer "Doesn't get the conversation started". Thats ridiculous, it's a fine offer to start a talk that may or may not result in a trade. Please tell me what offer <em>gets the conversation started</em> and remember it's not the Canes making the offer to themselves. I'll wait....</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>spockrock</b></div><div>The trade makes no sense for the Canes, so yes, the offer is crap and would not get the conversation started. The point of discussing a trade is to make your team better. In no universe is Bear a replacement for Pesce. The future 1st also does nothing for the Canes, who are playing to win today.
So yes, that offer would get laughed at. You trying to defend it is equally laughable.</div></div>
I wouldn't trade Bear for Pesce straight up. He plays harder minutes and gets better results - and even has some offense, too. Not to mention he's cheaper and younger. No deal.

Asking Price for RNH
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>benkel</b></div><div>How do you explain Edmonton's recent 10 year playoff drought?</div></div>
Larsson didn't develop into more than a 4/5 defence, lucic didn't have more than 1 good season then fell off a cliff, Eberle was traded for strome then strome was traded for a beer league player. They didn't find a goalie except in 2017 and then he wasn't good after and that literally propelled them into the second round, they rushed every first round pick they got into playing the first year and traded their draft picks and prospects for more beer league players such as brandon manning and kevin gravel who plays in the AHL now. Klefbom's shoulder was screwed from day 1 and Andrej sekera played 24 games a season. By the time Chia Left they were playing JJ khaira as a 1st line winger and now he is either scratched or 4th line.

What's NSH's incentive here? They're not making their team better, and they're not getting any prospects or picks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NunyaBitness</b></div><div>Haha There are certainly a couple of trolls in here. Great discussion starter Eberles_Backcheck
Gibson with the Oilers is a dream but it's unlikely to happen, it doesn't make sense to trade a goalie that is playing that good regardless of the state of the rest of the NHL team (Not Prospects, God forbid I mention prospects that are apparently guaranteed down in Ana..) In hindsight Holland should have paid Markstrom but Chirelli pooched the Cap and, at the time, the deal Markstrom got in Calgary made me anxious. He has proved me wrong so far (especially Saturday *facepalm). Fingers crossed for some good Holland decisions next year with room.</div></div>
I hope he doesn't overpay for a guy this year in UFA. The goalie market is underwhelming, and there's not a Markstrom calibre guy this year. I don't think Binnington gets to UFA. The guys I'd look at are Raanta, Mrazek, and Driedger. Shorter term deals. I'm really intrigued by Driedger actually. He's a young guy by goalie standards (26) and his numbers are very good the last 2.5 years. If his numbers stay above average this year, he should be a guy Holland takes a long look at.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>With Gibson being so young and locked at long term on a great deal, I don't see a any deal doesn't get done without Broberg or Bouchard + a young roster player that's already NHL ready (thinking Yamamoto, Bear, or Puljujarvi type) + picks.
Moving Gibson sets Anaheim too far back in their rebuild to not get a massive package. This offer just doesn't do it</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>Its no where close. Like not even in the ball park. For the Ducks to even consider a trade for Gibson out of division it would need to be enough to completely end the rebuild, now you're changing that to a Division Rival and that price goes up a significant amount. This offer doesnt even get ANA on the phone</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MOTDux</b></div><div>Ducks don’t even consider this</div></div>
What kind of absurd ask for Gibson are you expecting then? What goaltender has ever gone for the combination of two firsts and a second? Do you believe that Lavoie is a nothing piece despite being one of the top volume-shooting prospects outside of the NHL right now?
Anaheim's only <em>starting</em> their rebuild right now. There's only 2 or 3 really, really good pieces (Dostal, Drysdale, Zegras) with an assortment of complimentary players. Lundestrom, Steel, Perreault, Comtois, and company are fun, young players, but not so high in pedigree that you can claim the rebuild is over. The Ducks - and any rebuilding team really - need at least 3-5 elite forwards (depending on the strength of the supporting cast), at least 2 elite defenders, and a quality piece in net. Look at the Senators: so many people thought they'd improve drastically because they have Stuetzle playing with Tkachuk and a similar assortment of good, fun prospects. Dorion went out and got his guy in net. <em>They stink</em>. The Senators are on pace for one of the worst seasons in NHL history and they're ahead of the Ducks in terms of a rebuild. Come back down to Earth boys.
Gibson is arguably the best goaltender in the NHL. I'd never short him or you guys on that, but goaltenders don't get traded for rebuild-ending trades (is there even such a thing????) nor do they get traded for genuine market value regardless. This is not a bad offer - I'd be willing to tack on the 2022 1st at most - but to say it's "not even close" or "Anaheim doesn't even take this call" is so wildly ignorant. It's not even based in reality how far you've overvalued Gibson.
Anaheim does not have a LHD prospect in their system anywhere close to Broberg's level. His year 2 growth was been incredible. Lavoie as Zegras' trigger-man immediately gives the Ducks something to keep pace with Los Angeles' Byfield-Kaliyev combination. Extra first round picks never hurt: there's even another premier goaltender in this upcoming draft. Koskinen's here for cap reasons and the Ducks needing someone to at least fill the net in the very short-term. This isn't a bad deal, especially if the 2022 1st is added.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>papishark</b></div><div>Sharks dont have cap room for those guys</div></div>
I believe they do following a paper transaction of one of their ELC defenders to their taxi squad. Have to remember that all salaries involved aren't their full hits and that there's a degree of prorating done here, especially if it's done later into the season. All that counts against the cap is whatever's left owing on Larsson and Chiasson.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zmach</b></div><div>Edmonton is not getting rid of lavoie or Broberg. Their budget is probably a 1st round pick and somebody like benson or Lagesson.</div></div>
Not for any genuine, long-term fix that matters. Korpisalo is not a good goaltender. Raanta and Kuemper are short-term solutions. If there's any desire to win while McDavid and Draisaitl are still in town, they need a trade not dissimilar to this one in order to secure a proper fix in net. This endless cycle of maybes and gambles from other teams needs to stop.

Rince repeat
Thats not how it works. Oilers aren't moving our top d prospect whos been properly developed for 3 years and looks to be NHL ready and a 1st for 37 year old dman ahah. This is Russells last season at his current cap it, and Neal only has 2 after this (for what he brings, he's overpaid by like $2M, which we can handle. With the term left on Keiths and Shaw deal, you could easily argue that the Oielrs would be worse off in terms of salary cap. Thats not even considering we are giving up our team controlled top d prospect.
Like I don't even see the angle you were going with from the Oilers perspective. I don't think rebuilding means giving away your old players for the young guys on a team whos just entering their cup window.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>You have four first-class prospects (that I would be glad to have on either of my two crummy local teams): Dylan Holloway (at my alma mater), Raphael Lavoie, Evan Bouchard and Philip Broberg.
Trevor Zegras is a better prospect than Holloway.
Max Comtois is a better prospect than Lavoie.
Jamie Drysdale is a better prospect than Bouchard.
Josh Mahura is about as good a prospect as Philip Broberg.
In addition to prospects as good or better than your four best youngsters, we have Brayden Tracey at LW, Jacob Perreault at RW, and Henry Thrun and Jackson LaCombe at LD, all of whom are rated as A prospects. And our best goalie prospect (Lukas Dostal) is also better than yours.</div></div>
I'd agree with most of this. Zegras is a stud and I wish the Oilers took him over Broberg.
I don't think it's a good idea to compare players who are 2+ years apart in age as prospects though. Mahura is over 3 years older than Broberg. Who knows what Broberg will be in 3 years.
Drysdale will be solid. I think him and Bouchard have a lot of similarities. But again, the age difference is a factor. Bouchard already played a full year in the AHL where he played great, and it's starting to translate to the NHL. Drysdale is off to a good start hopefully he can keep it up.
But honestly who knows how these players will turn out. Especially the defensemen.
