Saros is worth a lot more than mid round first. Doubt Preds would even think of moving him either

Lol give me one example of a team trading a first to unload 1.1 million in cap. Like Arizona didn’t even get close to that for Ladd who has a cap hit of 5.5

Hold up there, my friend. Mayfield is a serviceable 3rd pairing guy who can jump to the 2nd pair when needed, but he's not a legit 2nd pairing dman. I know he's playing above that right now, but he shouldn't be and all his stats, both regular and underlying, speak to that. Yes, he's on a cheap contract, but he's not worth more than a 3rd IMO.
Let's wait and see what Chiarot gets. MTL WANTS a 1st. That doesn't mean they'll get it and I'll straight up say Chiarot makes Mayfield look like a Norris candidate. Chiarot is abysmal.

Vegas bailout 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OB16</b></div><div>I agree that would be ideal but Vegas can’t afford to take Holl and Kerfoot back on a sign and trade they need to move out at least 6m unless they commit to pulling a tampa. This rental deal would come a lot cheaper that foligno for example because they are so cash strapped.</div></div>
I would never bet against the house (haha), or in this case, against 2 teams that handle their cap management considerably well in that they seem to always be up against it. At this point, it sounds like Stone is out long term (at least until the playoffs), so they Vegas has some wiggle room until Martinez gets back. I think in Holl and Kerfoot, an appeal is that they both offer reasonable affordably on term beyond this year, something that Vegas also seems to like. This might require a third team to pull off and it sounds to me like Arizona, Chicago and Seattle are all willing to take on money for a sweetener. I could see a 3-way deal between Vegas-Seattle-Toronto lining up quite nicely. I could see a situation with Vegas finds some crazy way to acquire Jared McCann, even without this crazy 3-way deal happening.

Vegas bailout 2
I like Reilly Smith a lot, but that's the type of move where Kerfoot would have been moved but in terms of money and where he plays in the top-6, since Smith would be ideally be taking that spot. Also, I imagine that move would have to come with an extension in place. The one Dubas has going for him in his attempt to keep his job is that he doesn't love the rental deals. I also imagine if there was a deal to be had with Vegas, the Leafs would find a way to acquire Zach Whitecloud as part of any said deal. He's a young defender with term. Now that Vegas has locked up McNabb to that extension, along with Pietroangelo, Theodore and Martinez, along with all that big money spent on their forwards, Whitecloud seems like the type of defender that can be had, for a fair price...of course. Smith (plus a reasonable AAV extension) and Whitecloud to Toronto for a package that included Kerfoot, Holl, prospects and picks sounds like a good move to me.

I don’t think you’re far off for Rosy and Vladdy. I personally think more of Knies than Robertson, but I’d be happy with that.
Even if it means immediately buying Ritchie out 😒

Realistic moves
Holl is in the lineup over Liljegren- regardless of who they're playing with.
I don't think Crouse knocks Kerfoot out of the top 6 with regularity.
I have no problem with the idea of the trades though- not sure if value is right-- but can't be far off as there are no stars involved.

Depending on the value you put on Ritchie and Mrázek, are they cap dumps or do you think they have value?
While I really like Olofsson, I would make this trade.
Buffalo has other options for top 6 LW, or could wait for Robertson to develop.
If you took out Mrázek for Holl how would you modify the balance of the trade?</div></div> I see you posted your own version of this trade.
Sabre and Leaf fans dislike it.
If I were the Sabre GM and Dubas offered this for Olofsson, I do not know how I could refuse.

Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OB16</b></div><div>I think the contract hurts in the sense that his 11m takes up space that could fill out the rest of the lineup. For a 80-100 point player it’s crazy that he literally cannot score a powerplay goal on a top 5 powerplay in the league and when he’s not playing, the powerplay looks just as effective. I actually prefer Mitch (who is my fav player) playing with JT, when Mitch and AM are together every night they almost develop a tunnel vision for eachother and makes it easier to defend, I think that’s why when marner is out AM34 looks sooooo dominant.</div></div>
Agree, I also think 34 & 16 are too predictable together. Mostly cuz Mitch always feels he needs to look for Auston & defer to him with a cross-scene pass. There’s not enough movement since he holds onto the puck for too long, it’s easy for opponents to pick them off. The PP has the same issue IMO. Since JT can just go to the net, 16 has more space to work along the perimeters & he can get into better spots to use his shot. It seems like an easy move to make but the coach is reluctant.

Both are overpaid compared to other comparable players in the league. Matthews looks to be becoming more unstoppable but neither Marner nor Tavares looks that way.
To answer your questions as a Leaf fan....even if Marner isn't disappointing in the playoffs I would look to trade Marner and no Matthews does NOT need Marner on his wing.</div></div>
Tavares has been good and I don’t think the issue with Mitch is his contract, but rather the role he plays is not effective for the team. He always demands to be the puck carrier & tries to draw opposing players to him in hopes to create an opening for teammates, but he doesn’t have the speed or strength to gain separation & always ends up getting picked off in traffic. If he improves his awareness off the puck he’d be a lot more dangerous, IDK if the player is unwilling to adapt or if the coach doesn’t know how to help him.
