Super interested to see what happens with Burky cause even though they qualified him, they could try to agree to a different contract with maybe lower AAV. IMO burky would play looser with a multi-year deal. Maybe 3 x 2.5M?</div></div>
Yeah I agree, the connoly deal is a stretch, but for a middle 6 player like him he may take a pay cut to take a longer term deal for the security because he is used to the 1 year deals lol. But definitely think he is worth more in a shorter term deal.

I think Simmonds will be looks for a medium term (3 years) contract as at 30 years old it might be the last oppurtuinty for one. The Gostisbere trade looks pretty good though!

I can see what your saying forsure! But this trade was more so to free up 2Mil right now to make a larger signing like LEE (hopefully doesn't end-up like Backes lol).

I don't think you really have to include the picks though, mostly because if you do this deal after the first, Minnesota saves 7 million dollars in real money. So, give Rask a shot, and if he stinks, send him to the minors, saving the, I believe it's gone up, 1.1 or so million. So it's kind of the same as eating half of Backes deal to get rid of him, but, I think it would be much easier to move Rask after next year than it would be to move Backes.
A+. Best of a bad situation, huge fan of this concept, even though I think Rask most likely goes on waivers and to the minors, with Studnicka coming up.</div></div>
The Picks I agree were necessary! and 26 so he may have a breakout season, or send him down and bring him backup if he starts to get his crap together.

ok, take away some pics, but RNH isnt enough for Barrie. RNH had 69 points and played with mcdavid for a good part of the season. Barrie had 59 points. Sure he is a minus, but most good offensive defense are. Its a trade-off a team has to live with to have high point production from the defensive end. anyways edmonton has plenty of shut-down/defensive minded d(nurse, larsson, russel, klefbom)

He has never got more than 62 points and he is 28 years old. He has made it known he wants a long-term contract, in order for him to get a 7 year-term I think he will have to accept this salary... it's a matter of securing a long term contract instead of a shorter term with a barely higher salary.

They're not pursuing anyone in free agency this season. Maybe in a couple years when some of their kids are ready to make the jump to the NHL.</div></div>
I think they definitely take the Dallas deal deal, Toffoli needs to move on, last season proved that, on Dallas' end bith nichuskin and honka need to move on and have a change of scenery. It's pretty fair going both ways i think

Fair! I was hesitant to move jankowski cause he is on a good contract and young, but that might also get a good return on the trade market

Frolik also has a NTC and on a last year of a contract no one would accept a trade to Ottawa. I see what you are saying but in the case they do need cap space, ryan will be a good trade piece.

They are similar players in terms of points (i think frolik is better 2 way-players), but derek ryan has another year on his contract at 3.3ish Mil whereas Frolik is a free agent at the end of this year so it frees up some cash.

What else is needed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dodger510</b></div><div>Coleman is the better player – by a lot in my opinion. Eakin put up his numbers on a GREAT Vegas team, while Coleman put his up on a TERRIBLE New Jersey squad. Coleman plays in all situations – he's one of the best penalty killers on the team and got some power play time at the end of the season. Coleman is also younger, cheaper, and is locked in for 2 more years VS Eakin's 1.
I don't think Blake Coleman is going anywhere for a while, unless someone overpays. Cody Eakin ain't it.</div></div>
Fair.
The way I saw it here tho is that jersey gets a decent 3rd line center who also plays in all situations, and can trade if they dont make the playoffs(likely) for a 3rd round pick. Coleman has 2 more years and on a crappy team like that his value will just continue to decrease if his pints dont increase.
But I see your point because I think coleman has a great contract!

What else is needed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Talking_Senators</b></div><div>Ottawa decline hard. Who's going to replace DeMelo on first pair? Tierney just got 48 points and is needed for the next year or 2 to let the kids develop. Ceci is worth the 2019 2nd alone. Both Clarkson and Holden are cap dumps. If you take DeMelo out of the trade, maybe.</div></div>
The way I see it here is Ottawa getting rid of a defence (ceci) who is consistently -30. I know there a trash team lol but its time to move on from him. and demelo is a 3rd pair defence playing first and 1 year left. Holden is not a terrible contract and can still be valuable and tierny is 1 year left so why not get something for him before he wants to leave. Ottawa also does need to hit the salary floor so this cap dump is needed, comes with a 1st and 2nd round pick too

Eakin had more points and has 1 year left on his contract (its not an unreasonable contract). He can play wing and centre and be traded at the end of the year for picks... very doable
