Some ideas to improve defensively and up scoring
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>He's on that line as a support piece. Fore checking, puck digging, secondary faceoff, defensive improvement, etc. I get where you're coming from, but I would rather spread the talent out over 3 lines. I could have put Killorn there but between him and Zegras the lack of foot speed on that line would get caved in. Jones could go there too, but I think Zegras and Terry are enough offense to carry the line.
Vatrano could also go there but I decided to keep that line together.</div></div>
I hear you and it’s totally well thought out. I’m just fully anti Lunde anywhere in the top 6 (possibly 9) at this point. I think he’ll hold that line back despite having a decent motor. Skill wise he’s just a full step step behind those two linemates where I feel like anytime we have the puck he’s going to look lost. If he manages to be in the right spot, he’s gonna find a way to hit their netminder square
Would love for him to prove me wrong, but it just hasn’t been there. These are all just coaching decisions though. The team itself here 👌🏼

He just has not shown an ability to produce or facilitate offense. He’s chalked up as a 4th liner in my book at this point. (We need to stop spending late 1st rd picks on guys we hope to be a 3rd liner.. I.e Gaucher as well)
If you shift Z to 2LW,, bump up McT to 2C, Kampf to 3C, and Lunde to 4C that’d be more my preference</div></div>

Gotta pay up for a short term deal. Doesn't hurt our cap situation before it's over.

His foot speed isn't there to keep up, he's been getting walked a lot and we don't have the same defensive abilitsteucture to cover for it. With a better overall defense we might be able to.
He's been a speed bump more than a wall on the PK</div></div>
That sucks thanks. Ironically I guess his skating had been getting better he was a much better skater at 33 than 26/7. Hopefully he just didn't fully recover from the knee injury.

I could see Toronto doing that, though I'm not sure Kampf accepts the trade (not trying to knock on Anaheim, just may be the reality).

If the Blues cannot trade up and Jiricek is already gone at 16, I could definitely see them considering that. As of right now, probably not. I suppose it depends on how hot Army is for LaCombe.

Yea... That's gonna be a no from Anaheim... Pitre looked good in Juniors this year and is expected to get a crack to be in San Diego next year. I'd want to see what he's got to offer at a professional level before shipping him off, especially for the one position the Ducks do not need any more of.

Youth Movement
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>The Kings need someone under $3M to help fill Arvidsson's departure. Smith is one year removed from a 26-goal season on a pacific division rival and is defensively responsible. He could play an Iafallo role on the top line allowing Byfield and Fiala to wing PLD.
The Kings have already been rumored to be circling around this player.</div></div>
They can't afford it.
Also, Arvidsson hasn't left yet. Because he missed so much of this season with injuries, Arvidsson is eligible for the Connor Brown contract with games played bonuses. This allows them to defer all but the league minimum salary to 2025-26 when the cap will be $92.1M.

I think we were gifted Byfield somewhat slumping to the end of the season in regards to his contract, but Gavrikov's game has made me incredibly worried about moving forward without Roy. If Roy walks we will need to get not only a shutdown defenseman, but better defensive forwards to offset his loss.
If Arvidsson returns under such a contract, I am totally ok with most of the Kings forward group, and Arvy does seem happy here, but he is also 31. Trying to be an unbiased fan, he should be chasing his 3-4 year most guaranteed money contract with his injury history. But if he gifts us that type of contract, I would be over the moon.

Whats their plan
I think Pesce would be a good fit, but I’d be weary about how much we’d be paying him. The two year seems fine, but keep in mind within the next four years the following players need to be signed:
- McTavish
- Carlsson
- Zegras
- Gautheir
- Mintyukov
- Zellweger
We should be cautious with our cap right now and not be too hasty on throwing 8+ million dollar contracts out unless it’s for a player who is 1000% making this team better.

The idea for the Jets moving Iafallo would be to gain cap space, not make the cap situation worse.

The only reason the Jets would trade Iafallo is for $4M in cap space. Not sure the Jets are the right trading partner for you here.

Easy decisions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Some interesting, outside-the-usual-box thinking here. I commend you for your imagination.
Personally, I'd re-sign RFAs Max Jones and Isac Lundestrom, but Stenlund is a nice idea. (If not re-signed, the RFAs have some modest trade value.) I'm not a fan of the Fowler-Pageau part of the Zegras deal, though.
I wouldn't be willing to commit to Jackson LaCombe that long-term just yet.
Bottom line: I think that all of these ideas have some merit. I don't think any of them can be rejected out of hand as unrealistic.</div></div>
Also commend the creative thinking (another MTL Zegras trade for multiple late firsts is 🤮). That said, a few thoughts:
JPG will be expiring when ANA hits their compete window, that’s not attractive. Pulock is solid, but he’ll be 32/33 when we’re competing as well. If we move Z it really only makes sense to do so for a similarly aged player at a position of need should we draft Lindstrom (making a LW expendable). A 1st and 2nd is nice value, but ANA needs young impact players as they try to exit the rebuild. If feels like this hits the two ends of the spectrum (older vets and then picks) but not the sweet spot for ANA in the middle. A Dobson trade for Zegras+ if we draft Lindstrom would be great, but I don’t think NYI would be interested. All of this moot if we can just snag Levshunov. Zero issues with Zegras’ defensive efforts since he returned from injury, and our offensive woes are just as bad as our defense, and he’s our best and most creative producer on offense
Vaak was just scratched for the likes of a Lindstrom/Lageson pairing. Unlikely for a 2 year deal, but I personally like his game
Lacombe is not at all proven enough for $4.5M or that term. I personally think he should be a trade chip this offseason
I’m cool letting Jones go, Lunde is worth a 4C spot, but also okay letting him go as well
Personally prefer overpaying Stammer for 2 years vs tying up Rein for 7, but would still totally take it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JPM</b></div><div>Is Rossi that good? I wouldn’t do that trade for him. Laughton would probably be worth more at trade deadline, definitely was with the going price for centers.</div></div>
The health bit really cant be emphasized enough. He very well could have died through covid and then overcoming the mental aspects while youve been physically limited for so long.. I wouldnt wish that on anyone.
I'm a Sens fan but watch a lot of 67's game and the CHL cancelling the playoffs really took an opportunity away from Quinn and Rossi to showcase their talents on the biggest stage. Likely wouldve won the league and competed for a Memorial Cup. All that to say he's been dealt the short end of the stick consistently since he's been drafted and as much as Quinn is coveted by the Sabres and every trade involving him gets torn to shreds by Sabres fans, I think Rossi may still be better. Give him time to catch up on the missed development but i think he can do more than 55/season, very few players i root for more than him.
I know Zamula and Lauhgton are good pieces for Philly but this trade would be a steal.
