Playoff lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>It's also not the playoffs yet. Lorentz doesn't get top six minutes like Martinook does either.</div></div>
Okay, let's look at last year's playoff numbers then. Martinook had 15.04 Hits/60 (39 total) and Lorentz had 10.40 Hits/60 (23 total)
And Martinook only has 5 seconds more TOI/GP than Lorentz so that's not as big of a factor as you think it is

Lorentz is big but reluctant to use his size, at least in comparison to Marty. Marty has 61 hits on the season to Lorentz's 58 and that's with 14 less games this season

Trocheck cannot play on the wing, Kotkaniemi isn't 2C ready, Domi wasn't acquired to play 4C minutes,<strong> Martinook is not playing over Lorentz</strong>, fast isn't coming off the Staal-Nino line. why break up the Slavin-Deangelo pairing, or the Skjei-Pesce pairing?</div></div>
Agree with all, but this. Rod loves Martinook way too much to remove him for a relatively young player like Lorentz

Yeah, he and Slavin are the backbone of our D core. Only way I could see Pesce being moved is for a better RD

KK extension
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>legit question : as a canes fan are you worried about next year center depth? mainly 2c and 3c. i feel staal's play is deterioating a bit and kk is still unproven. from the games i've watched KK has been very good as a 4c but was not that great jumping higher into the lineup (i know it was usually at LW and i dont think KK is much of a winger). I guess as habs we always waited for him to take the next step offensively and gave him all the opportunity last year and it never really came and he was dissapointing most of the year. I'm confident KK can eventually take the next step but i feel he is still struggling to generate offense against tougher match up. what are your feelings for next year?</div></div>
If you want multiple opinions on this, I will say I'm slightly worried, at least for next year. After that I am less worried
I think Staal + KK in our middle 6 next year will not give us enough offense. We went out to get Trocheck to create two offensively threatening lines up front. Staal is a great player but besides last year he hasn't been the biggest offensive threat recently. KK was great when he was pushed up the line up as a result of Covid, like Caniac2000 said, but the small sample size of working higher in the line up causes some concern.
I think after Staal moves on or takes a pay cut this deal will work better, because currently I see them both being 3rd line players that can shift up to 2nd line when needed.
With all that being said if KK does make the jump to 2C like a lot of Canes fans are expecting that would be great.

I wouldn't give up Jarivs for Forsberg with an extension. The Canes need the cheap scoring that Jarvis provides with the upcoming cap situation

Carolina ideal offseason
My ideal doesn't include bringing back Niederreiter, baring a great playoffs performance. I think he is a great player during the season, but he just doesn't do enough during the playoffs to bring him back at 5 million dollars aav in my opinion

This doesn't really fit into what the Canes are doing. The pick should be high in a good looking draft, but Canes need Skjei and the cap space more than Murray and futures if they want to compete in the playoffs

Visually, Trocheck has been very rough this season (he still has good numbers minus points), but I would like to see KK fill his role admirably before sending him off

a couple non-KK related things. I don't think Suzuki will be NHL ready for next year, he has been progressing less than I would personally like and he has had some very unfortunate injuries slowing him down. I would slot in Rees instead. He looked NHL ready in the pre-season, got hurt, and is now once again looking NHL ready. Also I would prefer not signing Pavelski, but instead using that money to make a more balanced D. I think Jarvis-Necas-Fast-??? is good enough on the right wing.

That Richtie trade is probably for any team but the Canes don't need him. They already have to scratch a player better than Ritchie. And I don't think anyone is giving you a 5th for him anyways

Where are you seeing this? I can't find anything on KHL contracts except for a list of top paid contracts from last December where people in the top 20 contracts of the KHL are getting a little bit more than max ELC numbers. No way is a 2nd year KHL player (that isn't a world breaker) is getting close to ELC numbers.

Bring him in to play 3LD for a year and take over Skjei’s spot by 22-23 in this scenario.</div></div>
When Sorokin got that money he was top 3 in the entire KHL at his position, I like Nikishin as a prospect but he is not worth using extra money to lure away from the KHL as of now.

is Nikishin just a filler for a NHL D-man? If not, think Sellgren is the first LD we go to and 2 million is questionable, but if it is a NHL filler think this is a very realistic take

This is straight up worse in all sections imo (minus last picks)
Tuch > KK
Krebs > Drury
A 1st is more valuable in the current year
2nd for 3rd < 3rd
IMO the closest package would be:
KK, Necas, 1st, 2nd for 3rd
IMO the difference in Necas and Krebs makes up for the difference in KK and Tuch, but I wouldn't do it as a Canes fan
