You want a player example as to a player who is as good as they come, Look up Jonas Brodin highlights. He's about as good as they come. Not saying the Leafs need to get two of him, but that gives you an idea of what Shanny and Treliving should be looking for.

I've provided examples why.
You even admitted you don't know the guy's game.
But instead of taking the L you continue to double down on your stupidly.
You're beyond hopeless. 😬</div></div>
You're the one embarrassing yourself. My comments were about what the Leafs need. Not who that guy is as a player. I only commented on the stats because you guys are horrible at judging D. All you did was prove me right. Regardless of the player, a Strong tough Defensively minded D who can get the puck to the forwards, Clean up when things go bad and land hits that result in turnovers is what the team needs. They need two of them.

Most hockey fans can clearly see this.
Even Blue Jackets fans.
The Leafs need 2 Justin Holl's? 🙄
No they don't.
They need 2 capable defensemen who can take the pressure off Rielly and McCabe.
What you just said makes absolutely no sense at all.
You more than once have said you "don't know his game."
Then why are you talking out of your arse? 🙄
Peeke has played in 17 games this season.
Healthy scratched 29 times.
Nuff said. 🙄</div></div>
See that's the problem, you want 2 more offensive D and you think Defensive D are garbage. I was speaking about the type of player the Leafs need. Also since most of you guys don't know what an NHL D does, your opinion is worthless. The leafs don't need offensive D, they have that. They need defensive D that can clean up for the D they have. As I said, defensive D that preferably can do what Justin Holl did well and improve on what he couldn't.

See the problem is that you guys hate, (loathe, maybe that's a better word) players who can play defensively, you want games that have basketball scores in hockey so how can you be trusted. I don't know his game but what the Leafs need is a big body, can land hits, especially if those hits make a difference (which considering his stats he can do) can puck retrieve (no idea, again, don't know his game) and can make passes that result in the puck being moved up ice. In other words the Leafs need defensive D.
Basically, they need two Justin Holl type players (hopefully that are better than him, i mean they let him walk they might as well upgrade) preferably right handed, but at least can play the right side. They also need those players to do the things that Holl didn't do particularly well which is where the upgrade part comes in.
He's got the right idea with the kind of player Peeke is. Is he the right player? Not sure, i don't watch the jackets.

The Leafs need defence. Thanks to getting rid of Holl we also now cannot retrieve the puck and even if we did we can't move it up ice. Two things Holl did well. At this point they will need to move players to bring in defence and we need players who can do those things. From day one I said that while Holl is no defensive superstar He does things we desperately need and does them well. As for the price of players, if people aren't telling you how garbage your trades are they aren't realistic. Nashville needs some scoring. Jarnkrok can provide that. The other two are players that those teams are likely to trade and can provide things the Leafs are lacking. People are going to crap on it but something like this is what is needed or it's over already for the Leafs. Think is fans and coaches alike seem to think defence is worthless. The truth is I'm sick of everyone acting like you have to trade the top guys or that defensive structure isn't something that exists in the NHL anymore and all I want is a gm who has any idea what he's doing to do what needs to be done.
I get it. You guys hate defence and every game should be a basketball scoring game. Doesn't make you right. The Leafs need to do what needs to be done to win a cup and I don't care if it's an overpay. Just get it done.

There's zero chance that Vancouver gets both those players for Schenn and I would be surprised if they got either of them. Having a player like Kerfoot who is incredibly versatile is valuable in the playoffs. As for Robertson he's NHL ready now and he's a top prospect with an incredibly high ceiling. Don't get me wrong the Leafs have assets they could move, but Robertson isn't one of them. Your opinion of what Schenn is worth is far too high.

Believe it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Why would the Leafs give up the less expensive better Dman and give up picks too?</div></div>
Because some Leafs fans still insist on hating him despite the fact that he's been playing as a first line defenseman on one of if not the best team since Nov 1st. Holl has played on the top line nearly all of that time only being placed on the second line for a total of 5 games. I said if Holl could play Norris level hockey and fans would still hate him and want him off the team. He just might prove me right. I don't know if I would go so far as to say he's Norris trophy level but he can't be as bad as people say when he's the top right D on one of the best performing teams in the league.
since nov the leafs have gone 18-3-4 three wins and two of those OT losses were with Reilly Benn on the top line meaning the leafs are 15-3-2 with Holl on the top line paired with Brodie or Gio.

Someone most won't expect. Even knowing that Dubas has an affinity for his greyhound player nobody has been able to predict his moves. I didn't see the future, I saw the present. Holl was a good player where often he would scramble when players like Dermott would puck chase leaving players that should not be open lots of ice to make their shots.
Sure Holl has made some mistakes that we would hope he doesn't make but when paired with a sensible decent partner he's been incredibly solid and a reliable good D. It's not hard to see that when you aren't concentrating on what you can hate him for next.

Be honest leafs fans
I've been saying for the longest time that while sure he hasn't been the greatest D in the league he's been a really solid RHD. I've been pretty much the only one in a crowd of hate and I will tell you this. If and when Holl leaves Toronto (other than the locker room loving him I don't know why he would stay) Leafs fans are going to find out just how valuable he's been to this team. If Dubas doesn't pull another magic rabbit out of his arse Holl leaving will be painful. He's done everything we needed to do but fans "didn't like the mistakes he does make" despite the fact that he's consistently been a benefit to this team and not a liability.
He's been a + not a - his entire time with the Leafs each season other than 1 where he only played 11 games. He's played the majority every game as a defensive zone start and he's been a vital part of the PK and that's on a PK that's been damn good nearly the entire time he's been on it. and he's 2M aav playing as a 1st line D and looks like he belongs there.
Get ready Leafs fans because it's going to be 5-6m AAV just to replace him with what we already have and likely that player won't be as good as he's been this year. You wanted it, well thanks to the constant hatred you're going to get it, and you can bet fans of other fanbases on here are going to point that out every time you complain. To those fans, a humble suggestion from a leafs fan, Just say, "You weren't careful what you wished for."
(P.S. if we lose Willy it's going to be for a 5-6m aav Justin Holl that's not named Justin Holl and a forward not half as good as Willy)

If you took a shot every time you saw Holl being traded You would be dead yet he's playing top pairing on a team that's keeping top teams often under 2 goals and playing a massive number of starts in the defensive zone. I'm a leafs fan and assuming the twitter and online section of the fanbase to be rational is in and of itself irrational.

It's amazing to me how people have such a personal vendetta against Holl that they consistently insist that we should trade him and put someone who is 100% incapable of playing that position on that side just so we can trade Holl who can because Holl makes a mistake now and then. I get it, you watch the leafs for the purpose of finding a player to hate and then looking for every little mistake the guy makes. I get it. I don't get why and I don't get why you watch a team to want them to fail, but I do get that's what you are doing.

The Leafs understand the value of a RHD and that Holl isn't nearly as bad as people think. You see on here a lot of people who want to dump Holl and throw someone in there who has about a 5% of working out because "well I irrationally hate Holl and I want a fast goal scoring winger there who's perfect on D." Yeah well I want an English speaking purple haired monkey who can fill in for me at work, but we can't always get what we want.

Holl is a RHD and the Leafs don't have a replacement and one isn't available. Not a cap dump. At this point anyone with a brain must realize that Dubas likely already has a trade agreed upon for Muzzin. I would say that chances are Dubas is hoping to find a trade to bring in the kind of LHD he wants instead of bringing someone up but will pull the trigger and just bring someone up if he has to.
