Sonny is obviously ANA's new #1 LW. I mean...based on his debut performance, this kid is clearly on pace for a 50 goal campaign!!!

Nashville Predators signed Roman Josi (8 Years / $9,059,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Josi is well worth the money but you cannot give 8 years at a high cap hit to past their prime players. This along with some of the sharks contracts have buyout written all over it sometime after 2024.</div></div>
You're assuming the 9m will be a <strong>high cap hit</strong> 5-6 years from now. Top end players are already commanding 10-12m. In 5 years it might not be unreasonable to see 16-18m contracts being penned. in such a market, a 9m player, (albeit, past their prime) who can still produce effectively, will still look like a solid deal. And considering Josi has been an elite D for years, he will likely continue to be elite for years to come
TL;DR: This is a good deal for now, and a decent deal for the far future. Thumbs up for NSH

Gudbranson trade is not a good sign
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hanson493</b></div><div>just tank and get one of the top 5 studs in the draft. anaheim needs a young stud.</div></div>
You're not wrong. Part of me wants to jump back on the tank and ride it straight to the bottom of the standings again
But I feel like this club needs a bounce back year for morale sake. You can tell by the way they play that these players aren't going to give up like they did for most of last year. My prediction: they end up near the playoff bubble and either miss the post season or get taken out in the 1st round. They'll end up with an 11-20th pick

Jah, I think you're right about Manson and Kase. It's hard to say for sure because the front office is always so tight lipped about these things, but I doubt we see either one back in the lineup before Christmas
I think Sprong makes a lot of sense as a call up to replace Kase. Sure he doesn't play well in his own end, but the kid is a finisher. Its clear to see that the Getzlaf line has been hurting for a goal scorer. He might be just what that line needs right now

So, if Ceci is a cap dump, why is ANA also giving up a 3rd? Seems like TOR should be adding in the 3rd, not ANA

Easy fix. When one of the roster players gets injured, they can just have one of the coaching staff suit up

Having Gibson and Anderson split time in net would have been a disservice to both players. The picks ANA got in exchange for Anderson turned into Sam Steel and Max Comtois. Good deal I'd say

I don't think Trevor Lewis has any real trade value (maybe a 7th?). The other three are very movable if LA's plan is to ship everyone out for picks/prospects.

1 year turnaround
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>Almost none of those deals makes sense
Detroit laughs in your face. Why is a team that hasn't made the playoffs in years trading a pair of good young players and 2 firsts for a 30 year old? It just doesn't make sense
Arizona says no. How much better is Kopitar than an 8 or so year younger Schmaltz signed for half the cap? I assure you the difference is less than Dvorak, let alone Dvorak and a 1st and a 3rd
So New Jersey has one of the best American goalies from 5 years ago who sucks now and their solution is to pay a first and a good young c to get another one? I believe quick had the worst save percentage for a starter league wide last year. You're likely to being paying someone to get rid of him
Carter is past his prime and breaking down. You'll have to pay someone to take his contract.
Brown is overpaid and well past his prime. You'll have to pay someone to take his contract.
Kovi is not going to get you someone as good as Bjorkstrand. If you retain half of kovi's contract maybe he does.</div></div>
Agree with all. The only trade here that goes through is Iafallo to ANA. But why trade him? He seems like part of the solution, not the problem

What would it take to get some of the best RH Defensemen
Honestly, I'd pass on all three of these. ANA needs to build towards the future. These players are all in their primes (or beyond their primes). The best answer for ANA's RD should come from a pick or a prospect

I hope we get to see Comtois play during this road trip
Also, I'm a little surprised to see the 3rd D pairing is still Larsson + MDZ. I figured after last game either player could get swapped for Holzer
