Flames won't be able to give Huberneau away due to his 10.5m X 8 year contract starts next season at age of 30. He's on a 60 point pace this season.
I like the Tkachuk trade for the Flames, then they just blew it by resigning Huberneau.

We already have our 2 goalies for next year, with more good young goalie talent coming
(Plus, F him for not signing with us in the 1st place when we drafted him- no way we’d take him back now, our GM has put a big emphasis on only bringing in guys who “want to be here” and that’s just not Petersen)
So you’ll have to find another team for him

As far as what he’s worth, i don’t think you’ll get much
Two 2nds is a hideous joke
Maybe- MAYBE- you could get a mid-round pick,
like a 4th of 5th- and again, that’s just a maybe
He might not have any trade value at all

Seems like a lot of quantity in the Detroit trade. I'll admit to not knowing the Flames prospects very well. Makes no sense to trade Kubalik this season given his production on a dirt cheap contract. We'll still need a few vets to surround the young guys coming up. Kubalik likely gets traded at next season's trade deadline when he'll be a rental.
