<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>I don't think you get the european thing. Like every team has tried to send players. There are simply no spots left. There was even an article on either TSN or Sportsnet saying this.
Every team that could send a guy, sent him. There are only so many spots. If they were going to send Legare, if they could have found a spot for him, he'd be there. Just like they sent OConnor. Who normally they wouldn't have sent. But they did. You can't just up and send every player there. It doesn't work that way. Their teams have guys. There are only so many open roles. They aren't going to sit their guys, their younger players, etc... to make room. Every hole over there is plugged. Unless teams are bringing guys back to the NHL long term, it's probably going to stay that way. So I don't see any spots really opening up and those that do, will have a lot of competition for that spot. Like the whole league. So you can't just send them to Europe. Otherwise they'd already have been there instead of sitting for weeks on end while the CHL is closed.</div></div>

They sent O’Connor cause he hasn’t played in along time cause the NCAA was canceled b4 everything else. Ya, I understand the European thing and contracts. Lol. They can find a team to take Poulin and Legare if need be. They didn’t send Poulin cause he was in WJ’s and both planned on coming to training camp. It’s not done. They can find teams that would sign Poulin and Leagre if need be. It might not be the KHL. But it could be. But they can find a league and team to sign them if they need to.

We’ll see what happens. I would love Poulin and Legare to win a roster spot. It’s gonna be tough in a 10 day camp and no preseasons games though. Most likely, they will have to play elsewhere this year. And like I said, the taxi-squad will be O’Connor, Angello, C.Lee, PO Joseph, and Legace. With one more spot open. Depends on how the roster shakes out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>you can't send them to europe. This has already been established. Every single team dumped their players to Europe when their seasons started. Those who did not get in are simply out.
Some of the players who are over there, even if they have been invited to camp might not come back over. Like OConnor. I'm not sure they bring him back. He has a spot and ice time. With no AHL currently, I'm not sure they take that away if he leaves to come for camp. My guess is he might be staying there. If not before camp, after. Because it's a spot on the ice. And it makes it easier if he's not in the plans.

You can almost bet Poulin and Legare are on that taxi squad. There is no where else for them to skate. They can't skate anywhere in canada. They can't go to europe. I'm not sure how the AHL rule will work out even if there is no CHL. There is nothing. They taxi squad or sit and don't skate and regress.
This is why TSN is reporting these things. It's not just the penguins. Like every NHL team is having the same issues of what to do with their 1 year away guys. Sitting isn't really an option.

also body checking is allowed in the CHL. I don't know why you think it's not. It's only this year they removed it. They had to make a rule to remove it this year. It's not like the last years they weren't allowed to check.</div></div>

AHL season starts Feb 5th.

No contact cause of COVID man. Google it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>A. being on the taxi squad does not mean you play in the NHL. It means you have a place to practice.
B. the CHL is non contact. I mean really that's news to me. Especially considering they had to remove body checking in their COVID requirements this year before the season was ruined.
C. you realize Poulin and Legare whole thing is basically physical play right? Yeah I'm not worried about that with either player.
People over react about playing younger players in the NHL. The big issue with playing younger players in the NHL isn't about the player or the game. It's about their waiver requirements like Sprong.
But if you don't play them more than 9 games it's not an issue. In 9 games you should be able to see where they are and make that decision. It isn't going to "ruin" them.</div></div>

Yes, I understand they are power forwards. Legare alittle more finesse and a great shot. But yes, a big body.

Ya, I said Canada is non contact. Would be bad for Poulin and Legare. It’s why LA doesnt want to see Byfeild there. He will dominant with no contact too. It ridiculous. Poulin and Legare would have to be loaned to Europe. Not old enough to play in the AHL.

Yes, I understand the taxi-squad. Practice, work-our, travel with the team. If an injury or something, u need called up, just like u are in the AHL. But no quarantine or anything. It’s why they have it.

But yes, they can practice, work-out and travel with the team. And again, any injury, they will be called up. Teams will be using it a lot with waiver exempt players too. Calling up and down for rest days and back to back games.

The Ice time isn’t as valuable to PO-Joseph, Cam lee. they are older and will learn a lot and grow from practicing, working out and being around NHL players. And O’Connor, I’m pretty sure is close to NHL ready too. Any player would benefit from the taxi-squad experience but yes, if they still are 19-20, I would say they need the Ice Time more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>dude you don't develop playing hockey sitting and watching. You got to be on the ice. It's why places like TSN are reporting teams are going to use their taxi squads as development camps for their prospects. Because they can't get them on the ice any other way. With 6 man taxi squad I don't think it's that big of a deal to put 3-4 guys who need to develop on it.
But you got to get them on ice. If they sit they most likely regress.

As for as the link I wouldn't take those numbers to seriously. We know Poulin isn't 6'1 205 he's bigger than that. Much like a lot of other players on there like Lafferty is not 195lbs. I don't think anyone watching him play thinks he's 195lbs.

After all the same article " while Ceci is a simple, reliable player who plays a strong defensive game." in what univers is Ceci a "reliable player with a strong defensive game." The only way he's reliable is in the other team is going to score.
Not that it even matters POJ shouldn't play this year. Because they aren't sitting Dumo or Pettersson for him. And they need to play Matheson if they are to have any hopes of trading him to unload that contract.</div></div>

Canada hockey is non contact. The AHL is great!! But playing in the NHL when u aren’t ready is the worst thing u can do to a young player.

And I agree with playing Matheson. The argument was PO-Joseph gets pushed around and off the puck and is far from NHL ready. That was your take. He’s very close to NHL ready and I’ve watched a lot of baby Pens games last year just to watch him. And never seen him pushed around and off the puck. And the Pens wouldn’t have put him on the play-off taxi squad last year if that was the case and he was that far away.

But PO-Jospeh, Cam lee, and O’Connor can learn and develop just as much practicing and working out with the team on the taxi-squad and watching. Again like a back-up QB. And playing some. Contributing to the NHL team on back-to-backs, rest days for players. And any injury call-ups.

Yes, Poulin and Legare at 19 years old need Ice time.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Lol. You talk about veteran leadership and dogging it and question Marner, then you bring Kapanen into it? The guy that was consistently late for practice because of sleeping in while in the NHL and AHL? That's on him. That's a maturity thing. That's on the individual. Wanna have vets to do whatever for that? Leafs brought in Brian Boyle for a playoff run. Kapanen still did that. And since when does age define leadership? Crosby, McDavid and Landeskog were all named captains of their team before they were even 20. Matthews was in the conversation to be named captain. Age doesn't define leadership. Matthews and Marner have been beasts on the ice and were rewarded for it with a letter.

Stop trying to hate on Marner just cause he's a Leaf. If he was anywhere else, he'd be praised. But he's the easy target on the biggest market team in the league. Don't always take the easy way out. Lmao.</div></div>

Again, I’m a Marner fan. Just not a top tier # 1 guy. Not a 12M per year guy.

And comparing Marner to Crosby, Landeskog, McDavid is as bad as Kappy to Kessel.

I never said anything about Kappy being a “A” or “C” either. I said he will change going into a older locker room. Not a younger locker room full of his peers.

And yes, age and experience does matter in leadership to. Again, u have to learn to follow b4 u can lead.

I think 99% of people that have played hockey would agree Marner would gain much respect in the locker room by giving his “A” to Thornton.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Lol. This is the exact problem with this site. A guy has an "average" 5 game stretch during a play in round (really 1 bad game) and everyone says he's terrible and not worth his contract. Lol. He's still over a point per game player, plays defence and plays with heart. Everyone would try to get as much money as they can if they were in his spot (which is was mostly his agent's and dad's fault) so he can't be blamed as much for that either. But people on this site are jokes when they shame a guy like that. I get a good laugh outta every comment like this.

There's so much recency bias it's ridiculous. I look forward to August after Marner has another point per game year and good playoff run at throwing it right back in all your faces. Lmao.</div></div>

Not at all my man. I think he great. Just not a #1 option. Sorry if u Mis took that. Saying you’re not a #1 option or not a superstar isn’t a knock. Or I’m not trying to knock him. He’s just not in that tier. Matthews is!! I love watching Marner play!! Super skilled goal scorer!! Just not a #1 option worth 11M per year. And I bet leafs GM and workers would tell u, it’s been a problem with locker room leadership. They did a great job bringing in Throton, Simmons and Bogsaian this year though. It will make a big difference. I don’t even think it’s a lack of leadership. I think it’s a lack of veteran leadership. There is a difference. You need those respected veterans/adults in the locker room too..everyone can’t be the same age and peers!!

And u don’t think Marner should give Thornton that “A” this year?? You don’t think he would get more respect by doing that?? You don’t think that would show leadership??

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jwg314</b></div><div>He's literally a 7D (even that's generous). He comes into the lineup when someone gets injured. That's all he's good for. We have a few of those ourselves.

Also, are you really trying to undersell these players to a fanbase that actually knows what they're worth? When you're the one trying to acquire them?
"Hey these guys suck, it would really be a shame if you just... gave them to me for almost nothing."</div></div>

1- Nobody said that, but this offer of yours isn't near enough for Kyrou alone. We're not rebuilding, and even if we were Kyrou is definitely one we'd keep.

2- Wait... what now? Parayko, Faulk and Bortuzzo, who is easily better than Ruhwedel. is a weak RD?

3- Oh stop. It's not easy to break into a Cup-winning team. He's on a perfectly fine trajectory.

4- Heh. Did you just start watching hockey in 2020? :tearsofjoy

So a team aiming to contend again is supposed to trade our best top 6 youngster and a cheap, reliable soldier for an 8th or 9th defenseman and an okay pick. Mokaythen.</div></div>

Not better than your top 3 RHD. But good RHD depth on a play-off team. In a condensed schedule with a lot of back to back games. It’s probably a good idea to have a good, reliable. 7th RHD with play-off experience.

Like I said, the 2nd round pick has no value??

Good luck man. I hope they work out. Obviously I think Kyrou has some upside, why would I have made this ACGM?? I hope he works out.

And I hope one of those top 3 RHD don’t go down. And I don’t see anything special about Barbashev. Kyrou has upside. And If he doesn’t produce this year. He won’t bring back near a 2nd round pick. Ive read Blues articles from Blues websites and Blues news papers and your teams beat writers, saying Kyrou has struggled and trending towards a bust. I know that!! I haven’t seen him much at all. I don’t doubt u know more about him and have seen him more!! Just Like west coast teams fans don’t see much of east coast teams players.

And I guarantee I’m older than u and have been watching and played hockey longer in my life. But ok, sure i started watching hockey in 2020.?? Lol.
