Marner 12mil Kapanen 4mil Johnsson 3 75mil and Thornton 2mil
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Marner - $10.5M x 6 years
Johnsson - $3.25M x 4 years
Kapanen - $2.85M x 2 years (debatable 3 years)
Ozhiganov - $875K x 1 year (or he can walk to the KHL if he wants more)
He won't.
Kapanen is just as unproven as Johnsson is. They've both only played 1 season in the league and put up similar numbers. Johnsson gets more money on a longer term deal though for 3 main reasons:
1) Johnsson is older. His next contract will buy out UFA years unless it's a 1 year deal. UFA years are always more expensive so the AAV will go up
2) Johnsson will get more term than Kapanen. Johnsson took his shot and banked on himself last summer by taking a 1 year cheap deal to prove himself. He has. He's not taking another short term deal this summer. 3 years is the minimum he'll get and his AAV will compensate for what both sides project him to be when the deal is done.
3) Johnsson is actually slightly more proven than Kapanen. Both spent a lot of time in the AHL but Johnsson was a more impact player when he helped the Marlies win the Calder Cup and Johnsson was playoff MVP. That shows that he has the capability to be a more impact player. Yes it's the AHL, but it's a stepping stone. Kapanen doesn't have any awards like that.
In the end, Johnsson gets more. Not much but it will be more. See above for reasonable contracts on both of them</div></div>
You did an amazing job explaining yourself, put aside the money. Kappy is better, in so many ways. He can skate 43km/h, thats faster than mcjesus and you know what they say speed kills.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>Why should Johnsson take less than Kapanen?</div></div>
Kappy plays a better 2way game and AJ is unproven. Kappy is a better player and his contract should be longer. AJ is older, Kappy is faster. AJ is better at something though.
This is just my opinion.

Marner 12mil Kapanen 4mil Johnsson 3 75mil and Thornton 2mil
With Marner I would go with a 8milx2 or 11milx8 give or take 500k.
Kappy 3.5x3 give or take 250k he shouldn’t get 4mil.
AJ 3x2 give or take 250k.
Ozi shouldn’t get more than 900k, but I think he is going back to the KHL cause he will get paid more there.

Canes would rather have nylander, where as other teams would rather have kadri.
Also does anyone know what the salary cap is going to be when seattle joins the league?

Petterson or Dahlin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks1</b></div><div>What why?
They’re both equally important to their respective franchises. Franchise #1 center and Franchise #1 dman. Buffalo has Eichel so they would rather have Dahlin and Canucks need their franchise player.</div></div>
There both franchise players. Dahlin isn’t gonna get close his peak for 2 more years til then Petterson cause right now he’s better and improving.
Its more rare to have a franchise defencemen, so long term I think I would rather have him. Not to mention defencemen age better.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryan_meyer98</b></div><div>Odds are Oilers won’t buy out Lucic. That’s a lot of wasted money on the books for many years. Best bet is to keep him for another year, then send a pick to Seattle to take him in the expansion draft.
Who knows, he might have a bounce back year and surprise some people!</div></div>
Do you know how much the cap is going to increase when seattle joins the league.

No, Nelson contract is not a good one for them for the first year and year 4 and 5. I would keep Kadri or Nylander instead.

Leafers 11
I think Hainsey would comeback for a decent price 1.5m.
Kadri has a great contract, so that puts him on the fence.
Kappy and Johnsson have the most dance partners. But Dubas wants to lock them up.
Willie is complicated if he scores a couple goals this afternoon and starts a hot streak that would raise his stock. The return for him would have to be that coveted top 4 RD.
Z is getting 2 mil too much, but if he ups his game the way he has been playing the last 4 weeks maybe he is worth keeping.
I would get rid of Brown (sadly).

HamiltonNylander
1.Leafs already have a handful of talented defencemen prospects. Getting Fox is redundant.
2. No Gardiner!!!! We need a more defensive defencemen.
3.Hamilton is slightly more valuable than Nylander. I would rather have Pesce better contract and more defensive.

They need 2 new wingers to play with RNH on the 2nd line. Maybe Nylander and the other Nylander(Alex), that would be amusing.

Yeah he would get a little more than 10goals and around 30assists if he played a full season. But his leadership and defensive skills make him invaluable. He would go for 1x6.5.
