TB Trade Proposal

Yeah. I still do think they're going to give him 3 years so they can have his RFA rights for one more year just in case. Like they just did with Meier.

He can't just walk to being a UFA if he's received a QO as an RFA.

Yeah, I bet we can trade him and not retain his salary. I just don't know if the return of the trade is then 4th rounder or lower. That was my reasoning.
Then again, why make a trade-off for a higher draft pick when Sharks draft best with 6th and 7th rounders. :tearsofjoy

Trading Dillon and Melker
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vorg_Vaarg</b></div><div>Not bad but why Pominvile and why is Gambrell on the 2nd line over Labanc? Gambrell has never even scored in the regular season, he is nowhere near ready for top six minutes. Marleau and Pominville takes time away from our young guys that need a chance like True and Chekhovich. I really hope Doug avoids veterans like patty and pominville.</div></div>
I am not as hopeful about Sharks org prospects like Chekhovich and True jumping to the main team already. Or not at least just yet. Chekhovich is turning into a full-time pro next season and I'd like to see him get used to that first. It's the same with Chmelevski. Then again, if they can show next week and during the training camp later this summer/early fall that they have what it takes to make the jump, I'm more than happy to prefer taking them first over Pominville. Then again, I think True is pretty close to making the main team. That would slot him as the 4th line and Goodrow would be the right winger then. And I like Goodrow as a winger. But even if Pominville didn't join the team, there would still be the question about who takes the last right winger slot. I do think Gambrell is the closest one but I do hope a prospect like Chmelevski could be it. That would allow slotting Gambrell as the 4th line C.

Sharks Rest of the Way
First of all, Gambrell is pending RFA. That means if Sharks want to keep his RFA rights, they need to give him a qualifying offer first which needs to be at least $874,125. CapFriendly has <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/qualifying-offer-calculator/dylan-gambrell">a qualifying offer calculator</a> which I suggest you look into. It's a good tool! If Sharks doesn't give a qualifying offer, then Gambrell's status would turn into UFA and then $700,000 salary would be possible with him. But it's basically impossible.

Yes. Of course, I don't know what is Wilson's preference now that Joe is 34 and soon 35. Does he want to give movement clauses, 3rd year, etc? There are some variables here we don't know yet how they affect the negotiations in practice. But I could see Pavelski wanting at least $7M per year.

If Pavelski would have wanted a 3-year contract at $6.25M annual value, that contract would be already signed.

Labanc for Bertuzzi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jrdroge25</b></div><div>New Jersey may be looking for a winger. What would you want from NJ for Labanc? We have 3 second round picks this year and a few moveable prospects.</div></div>
Actually, when I thought about trading Labanc I made a list of teams who may want to trade for him, Devils came to my mind pretty fast. Especially due to your need for wingers and having those three 2nd round picks. As a rebuilding team, I don't suggest you trade your #34 pick. The value of it will be quite good due to some projected 1st round players will drop to the 2nd round. There may be guys like Puistola, Vlasic, etc. to grab for good value.
I would like to see either a package including Bratt or two of your later 2nd round picks, #55 and #61. Don't know what would be the correct value but I think those two options would be pretty. Then again, I don't know if you should even trade Bratt due to your lack of good wingers like you said NJ may be looking for one. So then it would leave those two 2nd round picks as an option, don't know if it needs anything else to add to that. What do you think? Also, I'm not pretty knowledgeable of Devils' prospect pool.

Don't know if you can get either one with Labanc. Maybe with picks. I just see both being Detroit's core guys going forward. Both had good years, especially Mantha in WC.

Actually, if I were a Detroit fan even I wouldn't like to see this trade happen. Bertuzzi is an intriguing player. Those kind of players don't grow in trees. But his skill set and what he brings on the ice would be perfect in the Sharks.

Moves and signings to keep the gang together
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBeardOfBurns</b></div><div>underpaid a lot of players</div></div>
Meier and Labanc - sure, I could see them getting a tad higher value that what I've envisioned here. But then again, these are 2-year bridge contracts and I could see Doug Wilson doing some magic with the negotiations. But yeah, you're right, these aren't contracts that are reasonable for players.
Thornton's contract is something I don't like, I really want to give him 2,5M-3M but when it's Jumbo I can see him taking a deep pay cut.
Many people here wants to trade Dillon and Dell. I don't see Dell having any value on the market and Dillon is an asset I really, really want to keep. It's going to be a tough off-season. Pavelski is a big question mark.

Maybe, but not that much more. Donskoi getting a contract between $2.9M-$3,4M, Labanc between $3,9M-€4,5M and Myers between $5,5M-€6,5M. Of course I'd like to see these players getting full pays, but there's no cap room for that. But I still think these contracts are fair. Not too much underpayment. I can see Myers getting the biggest pack of bucks as a UFA.

Kane has had his best season yet. This season was Leddy's first. That trade may work if you add 2nd rounder in it and maybe a workable prospect.

That Huberdeau trade isn't fair by a long shot. Leddy's contract is too high for his production, Beauvillier is a middle 6 forward and the 1st round pick is not even a top 15 one. There's not a chance you get Huberdeau with that package. Not even if you add Aho. This is just stupid. You will get Huberdeau with a top 15 pick, a good enough of a prospect and top 6 forward. And this package doesn't include even a one of these

It is true that it isn't always wise to spend close to the max of the cap hit. But I think EDM is in pretty good situation to do it with their contracts. Especially if (it's a big if) they can get rid of Lucic's contract but even if they don't, I think they can still do it.
