We paid a second for his rights with arbitration lurking. He’s now signed on a reasonable deal for multiple years. He is having one of the best seasons of his career at center which is inherently worth more to teams than wingers.
I might be delusional but I don’t think the Avs accept anything less than a 2rd plus something.
There’s no way they trade LOC. They love him and he’s below market value.</div></div>
Hmm yeah, I didn't want to come across as biased haha. They probably could get more for Colton for sure. It'll be interesting to see what they do. Thanks for the feedback.

I think we'd be downgrading in skill by moving colton for trenin at 3C as well. I'm starting to like trenins physicality but he's never got more than 25 points in a season. I think we'd need a bit more consistent scoring if we're moving colton for a new 3C.</div></div>
On whoops I did! Yeah I do like Trenin too. It'd be nice if we could keep everyone, but a few will be gone. Trenin probably wouldn't be able to put up the same numbers as Colton, but man that line would suck to play against.

I like Colton, don't get me wrong. I just think If we want Drouin, Trenin, Duhaime and Middlestadt (even though he's RFA) all back, he's the odd man out. 4 mill for a 3C is also a bit pricey. Maybe LOC could be moved as well. But I don't think he will.

(COL/NSH) - Hanzel, 2025 3rd (COL) for Trenin, Sward
I've been calling Trenin to the avs for years!! I'm excited for him. He's had a rough year this year. But he seems to score against the avs a lot. He also has 171 hits this year. I'm pumped for him. I'll miss Hanzel I really do think he's a good prospect, and I think he'll fit Nashville. That said Graham sward has exploded offensively with Wenatchee this season. Avs getting the more offensive dman, Nashville getting the more defensive dman. Fair deal.

(MIN/COL) - Duhaime for 2026 3rd (COL)
This is a tough one. Ever since his hit on Byram two years ago. I didn't like him. But with that said, the avs need some snarl. Manson is really the only guy left with some snarl. With him and Mackinnon. But both were so important to our cup win. That I don't want to see either in the box in the playoffs. Duhaime brings that snarl. He brings that mean. And that'll help come playoff time. It'll take some time for me to cheer for him in an avs sweater. But it'll come.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>21 YO in the CHL and can't even put up a PPG. Not great even for a defender.</div></div>
He was on the worst team in the WHL this year. And played very well. He looked really good in camp as well. I've seen him play a few times live this year and he was the best player on Seattle by a mile. I think the Avs may have something here. Maybe no more than a 5/6 guy. But I can see some NHL potential here.

(COL/BUF) - Byram for Mittelstadt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tonir87</b></div><div>Yes and maybe after Colorado saw Malinski playing in NHL lvl, it made more easy to trade Byram? Ofc I seen Malinski just 23 game, but i like it him a lot. I been thinking for while, who could be that second C for Colorado and after i saw they traded Mittlestadt i think it can be perfect fit, if they can keep his salary to 5-6milj range.
I also agree on those worries that BUF just added one more LD, maybe they re-trade Byram or maybe he get use to play RD better in new system, but i agree its bit weird.
I voted fair deal.</div></div>
Yeah I think seeing how well Malinski played with us helped this deal. Also a few other factors. Girard has looked really good since coming back from the players assistance program. And him and byram just never fit together for whatever reason. And to a lesser extent, Gulyayev playing all season in the top 4 in the KHL as an 18 year old is really impressive. And so I think he was also considered in this.

(COL/BUF) - Byram for Mittelstadt
I need a moment to process this trade. I really like Byram. And I think he's going to be a fantastic defender one day. One the other hand, he was having a rough year this year, and he's one bad hit to the head away from a lengthy injury. He has yet to play a full season. I also feel bad he went from being behind Makar and Toews to being behind Dahlin and Power. On the other side of this, I am pumped on Middlestadt. I think he's underrated. He was having a good year on buffalo this yeah. If we can re-sign him. Bam. There is our future 2C. He's also only 25 so hopefully he has a few more years in him and really blossoms in Colorado.

Vegas wouldn't want Phillips. He's so bad. Any team he goes on he just gets scratched immediately and sits in the press box. He played 3 games with the pens and got 0 points. Then they realized just how bad he is. And he hasn't touched the ice since.

Macdermid was a good locker room guy. And he's big. That's about all he has. Doesn't really fight anymore. Played 4 minutes per night on the 4th line. The fact we got anything for him is kind of a W tbh. With that said, he's a Stanley cup champ, and I wish the big man all the success in NJ.

DNVR Roast My Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dummy37</b></div><div>Yeah those points make sense.
Maybe Meyers for Nosek makes more sense. I was trying to find a place to dump MacDermid where his physicality might provide an ounce of value, but he's otherwise useless. I'd like to see him fight Rempe, so that's why I grouped him in with the Devils deal.
And I didn't know about Olausson's recent injury. You're right, that absolutely destroys his trade value. Avs don't really have another top winger prospect, so Avs may have to give picks to get MAF (if he even gets traded)</div></div>
Yeah that would probably work. I like Meyers personally. And yeah tough go for Olausson. He was having a decent run before he went down :( I think Sean beherens becomes the chip the avs will move.

Avs fan here. Macdermid has no value. Zero. Oloffson just cleared waivers. So I don't think that first trade gets Nosek. Second trade ducks probably say no. Third trade, Olausson just had season ending surgery. So he's probably not getting moved. But I do like the idea of getting MAF.

Honestly, this is around what I think they'll do. Maybe grab another forward. But that's about it. My lines would be a bit different though. I'd probably go
Drouin, Mackinnon, Rantanen
Lehky, Colton, Nichushkin
Wood, Meyers (or different 3C), Kovalenko
Parise/Cogliano, Oloffson/Meyers, LOC. Could always switch out Kovalenko and LOC.

Pure Rental Trade Assessment
I think your reasoning makes sense. However, the trade for Colorado does not. I'd like lindholm. But Ritchie and Gulyayev are the avs best prospects by a mile. Without them, that cupboard is pretty bare. I think Ritchie is already projected to be the 2C of the future. I think prospects the avs would be more likely to give up would be behrens, and Olausson. Maybe not the most value on those two. But I'd imagine they are the only ones the Avs would be willing to give up.

Keeping him in jr instead of echl was more about the "elc slide"</div></div>
I guess if there is one thing to take away from my terrible trade suggestions, it's not to sleep on Jeremy Hanzel. Haha. Between him, Gulyayev, Behrens, and the rise of Malinski this season. I think the avs have a lot more options than some people think that they do. I do hope Hanzel pans out though. I remember him in camp.

For a 37 year old UFA goalie. And a 35 year old UFA winger? Both that they may not re-sign. Hanzel has potential. I wouldn't write him off as a "nothing prospect" just yet. Maybe change the second to a first for next year? Idk what to tell ya man. Don't think you're getting much higher than that for two UFA's, both of whom are on the wrong end of 30 that aren't exactly lightly the world on fire this season.
